Something I always liked about this cutscene was how it showed the flood evolving specifically to bring down brutes.
It highlights just how dangerous and adaptable they are, that being said I'm surprised they never got infected by getting that goop on their skin.
While The Flood is highly virulent, it doesn't transmit from skin contact alone. You either need to breathe it in, get scratched, have an infection form burrow into you, or for some unknown reason, consume it. But once it gets into your system, it starts going to work converting you
I guess, I was mostly thinking it'd get in through your pores like how some skin irritants work.
Then again, idk how porous a brutes skin actually is so it might just not have anywhere to get inside.
A very thorough decon and strict quarantine period are needed to monitor for signs of infection.
im pretty sure the brutes have shields similar to the elites that are very thin around their bodies so that if their Armor or main energy shield goes they can still take hits it's like when the arbiter was getting shot in the key room in halo 2 after his main shields go down he still had a thinner shield protecting him which is why small arms fire was still bouncing off of him so i imagine the banished have better shields considering they don't have the suicidal honour thing the arbiter and other covenant soldiers have@@nathanieljohnson5430

When this dlc came out I was beyond words of amazement, halo wars 2 did a great job setting up more story for the halo universe

I don’t know Artiox’s official title or rank, but I do know he’s the supreme commander of all banished forces. So they definitely were really scared when they were in his presence
I wasn't really a fan of the idea of the banished, just felt like a bit of scraping the barrel for a bigger and deadlier threat than the previous one. But I do have to admit that Atriox is well written as an intimidating threat in multiple ways.

It’s kind of insane that the banished somehow managed to contain the flood outbreak on THE High Charity, while simultaneously fighting off human forces.
They barely did. They needed the help of the sentinels to do so.

The flood probably aren’t in the first release but the game will be getting more story added over the years so I’m sure they will be in the game at some point

We're definitely seeing the flood in Infinite. The first thing 343 shared about Infinite was audio recordings of a Pug, which can easily be distorted to flood sounds

I’d imagine the harbinger is like a subspecies of forerunner, referred to as the endless. I’d imagine she says “you are not the future” because she believes the forerunners should retain the mantle as opposed to humans. Wild guess though.

From what I remember in the books the foreunners had flood contained on each halo ring for scientific study to see if they could eventually find a cure..so there's always the possibility of a flood comeback. It would definitely be nice to get an aspect of horror back into halo, I remember being terrified of the flood missions as a kid but also loving them at the same time
currently from what we are aware the flood were put on 3 rings for study the ark because high charity crashed there and also in some little bits of lore the librarian's logs and the second or third didact said that the flood spores were being studied on several shield worlds and we know several of those shield worlds failed to contain the flood like in halo wars 1 the flood were out in the wild on that shield world but they could not leave it because they didn't have enough mass for a true grave mind and the forerunner ships needed reclaimers to activate them so i imagine the flood are still on a lot of worlds but can't leave them

The Infection gamemode in Halo 4 featured Flood Spartans.
The game mode is a multiplayer mode where a team of living face a team of zombies. If a living is killed by a zombie, they turn and have a flood Spartan model. This zombie model wasn’t carried by other Halo games but it was a neat concept
I don't think the flood will be in the initial campaign. I think the flood will come in future campaign expansions.
Well these cutscenes are from the dlc campaign and you can see them in the dlc expansion. I know because I played it and am trying to go through it in hard mode

You should check out " Mona Lisa " A horror esque Halo animation, its on youtube. BTW. Quick first fact. The flood can infect quickly by the use of flood pod infection forms, airborne particle forms and be wounded by say combat forms. The mp flood spartans in H2 is infected by the former, the mp flood spartans in H4 are infected due to spores or infected wound, since no pod infectorctendrils are shown. The flood supercell is crazy fast at assimilating. Energy shields seems to kill airborne flood particles quietly too, its not that noticable. But its one major explanation on why the Arbiter didnt get infected. The flood is that one sci fi threat that put many others to shame and make em be compared to a mild flu. Xenomorph? The thing? The blob?Starcraft zerg/ xel naga? Necromorphs? Dosen come close! Even the 40k warhammer universes Tyranids who always need to be op could struggle if the flood got a solid foothold. But they can have nr1 spot for all I care. Extra scary is it that the flood is the corrupt embodiment of the precursors, inheriting the neural physics capabilities that make its past pure precursors forms and now the corrupt flood forms " living space and time " LINK

I just remembered this, I hope and would like Luke to look back at Halo legends and get even more cheeky lore bits. Though to note, not all of Halo legends is canon, some is for fun. I think like two or three of them are non-canon. I think the extra lore would help him understand the Halo universe even more, and get more looks into the past of Halo.

Fun Fact, based on some calculations done by some dedicated gamers, they concluded that if just 100 Infection Forms (those tiny octopus looking things) managed to arrive on modern day Earth (2017) all life on Earth minus underneath our oceans would be wiped out in just under 18 hours. It takes just 3-4 seconds to turn a human host into a Flood Form after being infected by an Infection Form.
As part of the Flood life cycle, once a suitably large enough populace has been devoured by the Flood, it forms something called a Flood Hive. Inside that Hive, a Flood Gravemind forms, which is basically an omnipotent massive Flood organism with complete control over all other flood forms in its vicinity (usually the local Galaxy). Once there is no life left in the Galaxy, the Flood will leave the galaxy, and enter a new one with the intention of starting the process over again.
One of the other things the Flood have going for it that makes it unstoppable is called the Logic Plague, which is not a physical form of the Flood, nor is it biological in nature. Instead, it is a philosophical virus, and effects Artificial Intelligences. Basically, the Flood can manipulate Artificial Intelligences into acting a certain way, and because of this, AI that are affected by this Plague are often thought to be suffering from Rampancy, which is the final stage of an AI's life cycle where after a period of time (around 7 years for Human AI) the AI's cognitive processors divide exponentially because of interconnected memory mapping. In the process of trying to create more memory for itself, by dividing existing memory, the AI literally thinks itself to death.
The effects of rampancy include the AI longing for Godlike power, and contempt for their inferior makers.
The effects of the Logic Plague are similar, and in fact its heavily implied that Cortana was affected by the Logic Plague and NOT going Rampant.
THIS is the reason the Forerunners created the Halo rings. To wipe out galaxies in an effort to starve the Flood of suitable hosts. The Rings were not made to destroy the Flood, but rather their food sources.
Tbh I think it would take only 1 infected human, one that transforms into a carrier form instead of a combat form since it would need to make more infection forms. Otherwise maybe 20 or so for a mix of combat forms and carrier forms until a gravemind is made.
I am so upset that Halo Infinite just killed Cortana off screen cus I honestly thought the reason (though really stupid but it happened anyway) that she survived and went against humanity was because she was infected with the Logic Plague and then I guess they scrapped that idea and killed her offscreen cus everyone hated the plot of H5 and wanted to try something new. 343 has a habit of just....abandoning plot lines....Look at the Janus Key for instance in Halo 4 Spartan Ops: we never heard from it again after Halsey was captured (they address the key in a book but who the heck actually reads the Halo books?).
The ring that Halo infinite is set on (Zeta Halo) has a long history with the flood in Halo lore so I could see them coming back. Sadly at least as far as we have been shown we aren't fighting Atriox we are fighting Escharum, he seems like he's Atriox's right hand guy but more importantly remember Atriox is trapped on the Ark (with the spirit of Fire and her crew). The most recent book makes him being trapped a bit of a grey area but he doesn't have 100% free movement off the Ark currently.

I read the book shadow of reach, apparently atriox able to get of the ark through the portal on reach with his right hand man who able to help him get of the ark.

The fact that they're using The Banished as the villains in Halo Infinite really is amazing, considering they debuted in Halo Wars 2, not one of the core games. Whether they're the end villains or not isn't even that important, they're the ones responsible for the game's story, and the primary antagonist so far.
This could all change over time, of course. 343 says Halo Infinite is the future of Halo for the next ten years, so I'm guessing what they're doing is that they'll build on the core game over that time. So even if The Banished are the main villains right now, in a couple years they could add to the story, and bring back the AI revolution, or The Flood, for part of the continuing story.
343 already confirmed that the flood WON'T be on infinite's campaign at launch, though they did hint at it coming on DLC later.

I don’t think atriox will be the final boss of infinite mostly cuz the banished need a leader to continue being relevant as the new enemy’s. It be stooped to kill him in his first game you fight him in! We likely might fight him but not kill him and probably he leaves somebody in charge we need to kill.

Atriox isn’t even in the game, at least not outside of the intro cutscene and a few holograms. It’s implied that he was killed by Cortana, but we don’t physically see it, so whether he’s still alive is unknown

We're definitely going to see the Flood in Halo Infinite. Zeta Halo was not only one of the primary Flood research facilities within the entire Forerunner Ecumene, but it was also where the beginning of the end of the Forerunners began. It is where not just Mendicant Bias, but also Faber the Master Builder were manipulated by the Primordial into obeying him.

The main antagonist of infinite is looking to be one of Atriox’s Lieutenants Arishem his old mentor and Atriox might be the main villain of the new trilogy or series of halo the halo franchise.

I'm so disappointed we didn't see the flood or atriox in the game (opening cutscene isnt gameplay). They had this story ready to go and I just want to see them bloody use it.

I do hope on the flood returning in infinite but I'm sceptical since it's rated for teen so they either thumbed it down or it's in like a dlc or something if they're planning to do those (there have been audio uploads from official sources which sound like flood or flood ish like)

with how much they have pushed the flood post halo 5 in lore and story, theres a very high chance they will be in halo infinite, i think they have been purposefully not mentioning or addressing anything about the flood in all the marketing, interviews and weekly blog updates because they want it to be a surprise when we see them in the game, every halo has a library, im betting the banished in halo infinite will find a library on zeta halo, and there you will find the index to activate halo but also they'll probably find the flood there too.

Nah the main villain of infinte is the 2nd in command to atriox. Atriox is currently at the ark though fighting cutter, while cheif is with the 2nd in command on zeta halo and will most likley beat him resulting in atriox having to go to zeta halo to challenge cheif in a dlc or something.

I wouldn't be surprised if there isn't any Flood in Infinite. Just seems 343 has no interest in making them a thing again, like Bungie constantly did. But man those infected forms were scary in how they almost won against those bastards before the popcorn-shrimps swarmed out the zone. Really lives up the feared reputation they always had.

I’m skeptical on if we will see the flood, I’d love to see the flood, I’m just not sure how they’d get to the new halo ring or surrounding areas since they don’t have a way to leave the Ark. from what I’ve heard, the Banished on the Ark, having lost their ship and direct communication with the rest of their faction outside of the Ark’s system, are stuck on the Ark unless some ships come to find out what happened to Atriox, and with the Spirit of Fire not having a jump drive, then there’s not a direct way for the flood to escape the Ark, I also believe that it won’t be Atriox, I believe it’s supposed to be one of Atriox’s lieutenants that is the main bad guy of Halo Infinite, acting as the Banished leader in the absence of Atriox, yet don’t know for sure. Not much longer left to find out, less than a week.

I feel like a Halo tv show should be directed/managed by a team that makes the Halo cutscenes, story, and not a director that might be a casual fan at best. Forward Unto Dawn was great, but I worry about the tv show.
