would love to see underwater fx breakdown ... aquaman stuff ...
Please please please react to the dark crystal it is such a good puppeteer movie!!!!
Sam needed some of that
SO fun. Can't wait to do this again.
Thanks for specifically listing out what model sets are most useful for kitbashing. I've often wondered about that!
Can't wait for you to do it again. Thing I love about these videos is CC are just as blown away by your ability to casually drop amazing tidbits of information as we are. You're just a legend. Don't change.
Adam savage your a national treasure my friend still watch mythbusters on a regular basis now with my kids. You sir are awesome 👍👍
This episode was fantastic! Getting visual and practical experts together opens up a whole world of interesting information.
How’s Tuesday? 😉
Learning about the "Universal Greebly" is hands down, the coolest fact I have ever learned in the history of Corridor Crew videos. (EDIT: I was using the word "factoid" wrong so I corrected it to "fact" 😉)
Yeah! Best thing I’ve heard in a while! Loved this vid!
Same! Adam is a gem to have on the show!
A similar story he has told on one of his own videos is how a universal greebly was used on a very small scale model of a city, but then a much larger version was made for other shots, and so there's a building with a giant universal greebly taking up almost all of a side of the building 😂
And now we're going to start seeing it everywhere in old movies. I have a feeling this knowledge will be both a blessing and a curse. We won't be able to unsee it.
Adam has a whole episode on Tested about kitbashing and greeblies. It's super interesting.
One interesting thing about Little Shop of Horrors which had a giant animated character, animated by a bunch of puppeteers, shot by an undercranked camera forcing actors having to act at half speed.
That movie was shot on the sound stage, next to Aliens which featured a giant Queen alien. A giant animated character, animated by a bunch of puppeteers, shot by an undercranked camera forcing actors having to act at half speed.
Also, reputedly, there was an incident involving live ammo from Aliens damaging the Little Shop of Horrors set.
Of all the people on youtube, you are not someone I expected to see here.
Aye Mr. Manley, love the channel. Crossing fingers to see you make an appearance on Corridor.
I really want them to have shot footage using each other's props, a singing alien queen & Audrey II chasing Ripley :)
@@_Piers_
I just pictured the scenes with the plant but it's the Alien Queen
Live ammo?? I didn't know Alec Baldwin was in Aliens!
"The Wilhelm Scream of model making." Damnit. Well, I know what I'm going to go model in blender and add to my asset library tonight. Seriously, can we just get a full multi-season series where Adam just relives his entire history off the cuff? This is fascinating and unbelievably cool to watch.
Try his Q&A videos on his Tested channel! I can put him on for hours as he talks about old projects, kitbashing, his favorite projects, the millions of tricks he has learned in his career. Tons of beautiful content :)
Great idea. Could you post it online for anyone to use?
I never get tired of Adam's enthusiasm for what he does. I'd give anything to have a career doing something I enjoyed THAT much.
No, you wouldn't give anything to have a career like that because you don't have a career like that!
Who doesn’t just love listening to Adam excitingly explain everything?
Should be a series
"Adam Savage excitingly explains everything" and it's like a 47 part documentary where they explain just about everything
His enthusiasm sells anything
@@THEPELADOMASTER I think that’s basically Tested
I put on his One Day Builds or model making videos in the background all the time
The Tested crew knows how you feel.

"I have what you call piss hands"
Dude I swear Adam is the life of the party
Not really, I meet him years ago when he was on myth busters. The biggest jerk money can buy. I worked at a university where he was an invited guest to judge and kids science fair. The way he treated the staff back sage was sickening. To top it off he must have been on stage for 2 minutes before running off and throwing a fit. I never watched an episode of myth busters ever again. These ppl are who you think they are when the cameras are on.
@@erichernandez4179 everyone's a dick sometimes, dude. We all have days when every little thing is annoying. I'm sure there are people who tell a similar story about you, when you could be super nice 95% of the time.

@@erichernandez4179 Without specifics, it is impossible to evaluate your claims or to know if anything else was going on. Some celebrities have been lured to events on false pretenses and reacted badly while other times celebrities know what is going on but act badly to establish personal power.

10:04 You showed Gene Siskel, but he actually gave a thumbs up to Starship Troopers. Roger Ebert didn't, but only b/c he thought the bug action was repetitive. Both said that they liked the satire.
Interesting, I didn’t know that
It never ceases to amaze me the amount of detail that goes into these effects. It’s something we easily take for granted while watching.
%100 agree. But they're SUPPOSED to be taken for granted by the viewer, that's the whole idea. When they're executed beautifully the viewer doesn't ever think about them. This might be one of their best episodes
VFX Artists React and Stuntmen React have changed the way I watch movies.
@@rosscalhoun3389 Ahahah true, I will be looking for that universal gribly now everywhere.
It's almost like if you don't notice it (and notice that it's a model), they did their job well!
sometimes, the wrong people get paid the big bucks.
Man so much knowledge and BTS gems in this episode!
Great episode
Oh no...you said the thing. They are coming...THEY ARE COMING!!!
Well yeahhhhhh. Adam savage is the best
*the ground starts shaking, the clouds part* BUT I DIDNT HEAR ANY BTS MUSIC *an explosion, the very earth rends itself apart*
this should have been an hour long
More Adam please. It’s always a joy to watch him and hear his stories.
Y'all brushed over spaceship troopers. That deserves a whole episode.
Totally agree.
Was pumped that Starship Troopers finally made the cut... and then it was barely talked about. Bummer. Haha
Let's make this happen
I remember how they used it in promo for capabilities of MAYA 3D studio when it was new. It was unique to render so much moving characters. They made bugs 4 legged because 6 legged were too complicated for render.
I thought the same about TMNT.
Yess Corridor, Love this episode. My Dad was actually puppeteer with the Henson Company on both Little Shop and Ninja Turtles 2, He's actually in the clip you have used. So cool!!!!
Anyone ever told you that you look a hell of a lot like your pops?
You better be proud of your dad for this
That's so very cool. Your dad did some amazing stuff!
Thats cool af man! 😀
your dad has to make an apperence!! dope haha
For the next time Adam is on with you guys, it had to be The Expanse. A series he has a lot of love for and filled with brilliant CG.
Also because he's in it lol :)
But yeah, amazing CG in that show, ranging from the biggest spectacle (like the big capital ship battles) to the horrifying (everything around protomolecule) to the beautiful (the planets and the sky seen from planetside) to the smallest details, like stuff floating around in weightless scenes.
How did he survive the destruction of the Arboghast?!?
Hell yeah, especially seasons 1 and 2
With Kyle Hill there to talk about the science!
Adam also cameos in an episode of the Expanse
I love how proud and excited he was to talk about the model he made for Space Cowboys. It's such a treat to see these industry professionals who have so much passion for their craft and can talk about their projects like it just happened yesterday.
The wealth of filmmaking knowledge and history this man shares floors me every time. I could listen to him for hours.
I am not sure anybody is having more fun than adam savage. just like, In general
His channel is a treat. Always fascinating.
Damn bro, straight up lifted a comment from the last Adam Savage VFX artists react.
Very original comment
very very original.....
This is the kind of video that could last 5 hours and everybody would enjoy.
Great content. Great people. Science and fun.
Go check out his Tested channel. If you don't mind a lack of visual examples, it's Adam just vividly relaying anecdote after anecdote, answering viewer questions, making stuff. It's pretty great!
Also his livestreams during the first lockdown were a lifesaver. We got to watch Adam go through something all of us were going through. Right now the new livestreams are only for the CZcams patrons and the ypost segments on the channel publicly, but if you can catch them they're worth it.
With the mid-sized Audrey II with Rick we actually shot it at 16fps, with the larger plant shot at 12fps. Two months of rehearsal helped!
I’m surprised no one else has given this comment any attention.
I just looked at your IMDB and it’s great that you still seem to be working as a puppeteer!
@@CowabungaWo101Haven’t worked since 2014 due to ill health, but thanks so much for the kind comment.
@@makwilson2050 Oh, my bad I must have misread the release dates! Well, I hope your health is doing better! Have a great day!
Blowing my mind with the blade runner shots... Already one of my favorite movies and this makes me love it more
I have sent things you people would not believe.
We need more corridor x Adam savage!!!
The fact that we got 2 already and they're talking about more is so cool.
Its crazy to think about how much of the stuff that you have watched contains elements created by this one man
Corridor Digital x Adam Savage? I ship it.
YES!
Adam is DYING to do this again. He had an awesome time.
I remember hearing that Starship Troopers was actually fairly well received overseas but flopped in America because they didn't get the satire which was a hilarious bit of irony at the time
Starship troopers is my favorite movie it stills holds up today better than most movies do
Idk, call me a dumb American but to me the film wasn't ridiculous enough to be funny, and it definitely wasn't serious enough to be emotionally resonant. Guess my tastes are different but I really don't get what people like about this movie.
@@thejedimaster32 It’s pretty much satire about America after the 2nd world war and points out that America itself is lending from and moving heavily towards fascist propaganda to justify their wars.
It’s not meant to be “funny” or just an action movie, it has a pretty deep meaning.
@@studio_rtr It's not fascistic, it's just militaristic.
@@studio_rtr ........no. It's a satire on the book.
It’d be so cool to have Adam come back and review more effects. Especially ones he’s worked on.
That Audrey II puppet is still one of my all-time favorite things in any movie ever. Jaw-dropping how lifelike of a character it looks to this day, beating out a majority of CGI creatures in today's movies by a mile. And it's so complicated and expensive that there'll probably never be anything like it again. So damn special.
This episode could have been 4 times as long and I'd have cheerfully watched every second. What a joy this collaboration is!
Don't forget you CAN!! Just Sign up to their website to see more!!
Do you like when things are 4 times as long?
14:07 "the universal greebly is the Wilhelm scream of model making" is such a fun and meta detail to get to know, thanks for sharing :D
Love how you guys share the appreciation for movie and VFX making.
reddit's gonna go crazy looking for this in every movie xD hahahaha lol... srry if bad english...
@@salvadorarreolarodriguez6165 haha yes I can imagine all the sci-fi lovers (me included) now keep an eye open for one of those greebles :D
*14:38
Has it ever been used as a stand in for the Hagia Sophia in Istanbul?
I love how Adam is 54 years old and moves, expresses, and gesticulates like if he's as young as Wren and Sam :'3
Creepy that he was accused of anally raping a 7 year old girl though.
@@blackjack67576 creepy to think about but again “accused”. People use this stuff too lightly, I could accuse you of murdering somebody but that doesn’t mean everybody should believe me just because I said it.
As a "young" 50 year old, it's how you think. If you're optimistic, forward looking, enjoy new things and exploring and open to change you'll appear younger. Many people lose that thinking as they age, weighed down by the now and still thinking about the future and possibilities. Think young and you'll stay young 😉
I love when Adam breaks out the old stories, he just lights up when he tells them and it's always a joy to watch, his enthusiasm is infectious :)
Whenever Corridor gets the actual artist who worked on the movie to sit down on the green couch, it's always a great episode!
Adam should always be introduced as “The man, the Mythbuster, the legend.”
But not Manbuster
the piss hand man
@M Bradley Piss hands?
..., the Piss-Hand-Haver.
Y'all touched on some of my all time favorites. I have been mesmerized and stymied by the puppetry effects from Little Shop my whole life and hearing how much work and precision went into crafting it makes my heart happy!
I love Adam’s expression of pure joy when discussing all this, deffo an idol for so many of us. What a great person
I love how Adam is genuinely enjoying all his visits to corridor crew
This is likely the same visit as before based on clothes he's wearing.
This was technically shot the same day, but as soon as he was leaving he was already asking to come back.
Yes - but it's not just Adam. Oh and it's not just the special effects. I love the stunt-people as well.
Penny just dropped with me that whilst "corridor crew" is/was notionally about the CGI that they could do - they now provide a great 'frame' to let experts in all the interesting areas talk about all the disciplines that it takes to put a film on a screen.
Makes sense that they're focussing on the overlap with that they've done - but just realizing how many other topics there are (sound design, costumes, prosthetics, cinematography, production on a budget, handling a sequel, etc etc)
Basically - we all know 'the good films' - but there must be thousands of great stories to be told about great things in all those bad films.
I'm just thinking of all those bad films, that had great DVD extras.
The way they did the plant almost looks like an homage to stop motion, yet it's puppetry. So much talent.
can we just have a monthly video with adam? he’s a wealth of knowledge and brings so much more joy to the things we already love with his insider stories
"My whole life is about this kind of conversation"
You can tell, that he backs that statement up solid. This really is his life and it is so fascinating and inspiring to listen to such dedicated people like Adam.
There's something special about the amount of knowledge, insight and general excitement that Adam brings to these episodes
With Adam and Wrens energy’s combined I feel like Sam is just along for the ride lol
That's what one would assume, but after watching the video i came to a different conclusion than you. Both seemed a bit starstruck, but wren seemed less energetic and more shy than his usual on screen self, while Sam was in his element and seemed to be enjoying it, even getting emotional and talking freely and confidently. Talking about memes or whatever the word for mouth shape is.. But Adam seemed to be into it also as a fellow nerd geek movie fan and fellow creator, since it fits in nicely with Adams experience and knowledge of real life puppetry and how real puppets mouth move.
Great episode, one of the best yet. Wish Adam talked more about TMNT 2 the movie. That had some of the best puppets and suits and monsters. Or at least as I remembered it. They looked mean and threatening, even grotesque. Reminded me of like gremlins or some classic 80s horror movie in that vein.
@@ex0duzz Thank god Adam was here, because he's the only one who knows what he's talking about
I cannot get enough of this. I could literally watch you guys talking to Adam about movie effects all day.
I wish this part was 50mins... I really cannot get enough when adam is talking about his exp, it's always the most interesting part for me (no matter what build or vid he's on)
As excited as I am for Adam's appearance, I love the acknowledgement of Rick's acting and being able to act out a scene in slow-mo that looks natural in regular speed. He's often underrated thanks to being known as a mostly comedic actor.
I wonder what he would have gotten into if he kept acting. Eventually he'd break out of the typecast and do something kickass, everyone does.
When Sigourney Weaver was shooting Aliens at Pinewood at the same time as Little Shop, she would laugh with Rick Moranis over lunch about how they both ended up having to act in slow motion.
@@anephric1 Makes it kinda funny that they ended up in Ghostbusters together.
i love how the dynamic is Adam passionately telling a fascinated little boy (Wren) about all these effects while Sam is just listening and looking in silence
seems like sam is really trying to contain his excitement but its making him even more reserved than hes trying to be lol
These conversations are an absolute pleasure to watch in so many ways.
Adam is literally a childhood hero of mine. The times I watched Mythbusters and was just amazed of his knowledge and skills. Super funny and genuine guy. Thanks for inviting him and thanks for him to share his insight!
It's great to see Jim Henson getting some well-deserved recognition here. You will never see puppeteering at that level again. Sure new tech makes that style obsolete, but the amount of people he had working as one organism is one of the most underrated visual achievements in the history of film and media.
He was big into CGI too. The owl from 1986's Labyrinth being the first fully realized CGI 3D character model in movie history. Henson actually embraced new tech and was pushing CG boundaries before his sudden and seismic death in 1991.
Yeah I know right? That man just doesn't get anywhere near the recognition he deserves. 🙄
I can’t express how much joy I get seeing Adam in these episodes, what an exceptional person!
Had so much fun watching this. Thanks guys!
Adam is one the most amazing human beings on the planet. Literally everything he is in or involved with is perfect. So much to learn from him and it's always entertaining.
The Adam Savage episodes are so damn good. He's a living legend and seeing him geek out about the little things, even greeblies, is such an honor to behold.
The CGI in starship troopers still looks amazing till this day.
The fact that you guys are friends with this man is amazing. Proud of you corridor crew!! Been watching you for years and you never fail to bring out awsome content
So glad this was suggested because this was a great watch!!
Starship Troopers is my favourite movie ever, so glad you finally covered it. The CGI still holds up today.
It will hold up forever, just like jurassic park.
i love it like few other movies too, it's just the quintessence of "cool"
It's a criminally under-rated and misunderstood film that only a European (no offence intended, American friends!) could have done - hence Dutchman, Paul Verhoven. The slow-motion destruction of the orbiting space craft by bug plasma, like some grotesque dance, is quite astonishing to watch, let alone anything else, and the satire razor sharp. In a sense, you could almost compare Starship Troopers with The Fifth Element, which is completely daft, but visually stunning.
@@nickk6518 oh yeah, starship troopers has a dimension of political satire that a lot of people really don't grasp. It's one of the reasons why i like it so much
@@nickk6518 well said
Finally Starship Troopers! Now just missing The Expanse: The Arboghast disassembly, the Savage's industries robot, the belter crossing the ring gate for the first time.
YES! I completely forgot Adam was in that episode. And any excuse to watch more expanse is OK with me.
I third that the Expanse should be looked at in an episode. 100%
The Arboghast is a great scene but also any of the ship to ship battles (the assault on Thoth Station in Season 2 is a favorite) and a Protomolecule consumed Eros would be great for them to analyze
Starship troopers is my favorite movie it stills holds up today better than most movies do
