I miss the days of having real 23-episode seasons... this 6/8/10/12 episode seasons is a cruel joke.
I usually wait for many seasons to come out then binge them because I am of the era where good TV was more than a handful of episodes. I guess this is how they plan to save money by making 8 or 10 episodes per season and call it a day. I have found I am more interested in older TV shows these days anyway which is too bad because I love Anson Mount.
Times change, not always for the better. Ask any librarian or newspaper editor.
Season one was pretty good season two was excellent please do more and longer episodes!!!!
As a child growing up in Larchmont New York I watched TOS when it first aired when I was 7 or 8. Now I'm 63 so go figure. I kept an open mind with Star Trek Discovery but realized it wasn't the Star Trek that had known all my life. Although I realize that it appealed to a different group of people and that it was still preaching the philosophy of the United Federation of Planets. Liked Picard. Love Strange New Worlds even though this Enterprise is a modern version of what was portrayed in the 1960s. Strange New World brought back the kind of Star Trek I grew up with. Also I was a juror on the Kevin Spacey Anthony Rapp trial.
Captain Pike should dress up in the Gorn costume from the Original Series and infiltrate a Gorn ship.
Believe it or not the two best shows this year, were the live action with lower decks and the singing episode. Normally I gag on singing episodes but this one held my attention.
I laughed SO hard when we finally got to see the Klingons sing!

Strange New Worlds is the true Prelude for the Original series. Still we do see some the effects of the Kevin Timeline in Strange New Worlds, The Kevin Timeline cause three Universes to exist at the same time..
Just one man's opinion and I know it isn't worth much but.... at 69 years old, I watched and love TOS. I also love The Animated Star Trek, ST:TNG, DS, Voyager and Enterprise. I have tried to watch some of the latest (aka, most recent movies and such since those mentioned TV series) Star Trek movies and such, but just can't go along with them. This series sounded worth a try but to have to "subscribe" to yet another streaming network/medium, to see ONE show, I can't justify it. Streaming is extremely costly, and I can't even find shows or movies I'd like to see as they aren't owed or none of them have the rights to, and I WAS subscribed to 5 at one time.... ANYWAY, I'm off my subject, STAR TREK, Strange New Worlds... Watching this trailer I can't go along with the scenery and technology shown here. I mean, this show is supposed to be PRE-KIRK era right? I thought the Gorn weren't even heard of until Kirk met them. So how can they be here?Wouldn't it stand to reason then the Enterprise Bridge and other the rest should be just as bland and plain or plainer than the Enterprise of Kirk's???? I know we have better CGI and technical production ways of making movies and Television shows today...Yet this seems to me the same as to make a new movie of Daniel Boone and giving him a 30-60 rifle or similar. I could go on, but hopefully my point was made. It just seems this Enterprise would be lesser than Kirks Enterprise. I mean, my Ford F150 is different from my dad's F150 yet to see "photos of home movies with his truck being newer looking than my? would be weird at the least.
I hope SNW moves away from the foul abramsverse and other post-ENT crap.
Really enjoyed the first two. They respected the source material and added credible, likeable characters like Lt. Erica Ortegas who fits in nicely.

Pike could go for slingshot effect to rescue the Cayuga and Captain Patel especially since they don't have a tesseract machine, wait a minute wrong Gene Roddenberry franchise

When and where will season 2 be available to watch, without a premium subscription to paramount? Season 1 was released right before season 2 premiered, but I don't recall where I watched it.

Paramount is notorious for taking a series that has initial good press, and loading it up with Poochie gimmicks.
They did it with TOS when they fully took charge in S3.
They did it with The Odd Couple series when it became pop fad of the week.
They did it with Happy Days including shark jumps and alien encounters with Mork.
SNW season 2 is packed with Paramount style gimmicks. At least a third or more of the season was teen fad gimmick clickbait.
I don't expect it to get back on track. The "network" has taken charge.
If you don’t like don’t watch it. Let the rest of us enjoy it.
@@johnfic4751 i omitted the Spock boy, the cartoon cast appearance and the musical. I saw Fonz jump a shark and fight Mork when I was a kid.
I did see the last episode and it was pretty exciting. If I omit the 3 to 4 stupid episodes a year, the show is OK. Enough to entertain. Luckily they advertise their plots in advance hype, so it is easy to pick the ones that would cause me to eyeroll.
There are episodes like that in most of the older series, but at the time they didn't proudly warn you.
Thank you. I thought season 2 was nowhere near as good as season 1, for exactly this reason. Is it too much to ask for just good, non-gimmicky, actually well written Star Trek?
The best episode of the series IMO, by far, was Lift Us Where Suffering Cannot Reach. That actually felt like a real episode of Star Trek, and it was exactly what I was hoping for from this series. Season 2 seemed to move away from this. For a show called Strange New Worlds, they almost never go anywhere strange or new.
@@charlesajones77 for this season, Among the Lotus Eaters was a conceptual SF story. Best of the season. B plot on the ship was weak but the Pike A plot was solid. Pike finally got to do something too.
Last episode was OK too. The rest without the pop gimmicks (4 eps) were serviceable.
Season 1 had a Thespian fairy tale Romp and a Pirate EP full of plot holes for the kids. That is understandable for a family show. Lift Us was the best of the series so far, and Ghosts of Illyria. The other 6 were serviceable with three of them very exciting edge of your seat.
A lot of episodes of S1 were very similar story ideas to the final season of The Orville running concurrent. I found that somewhat, ...Fascinating.
How do you say nothing, while hyping season 3?
enjoyed season 1, season 2 not so much.

After a superb pilot and a few good episodes, which for me, oddly, were the Lower Decks episode and the fantasy/comedy one, the show tanked for me. While I prefer action, I feel the "action" episodes were well below par. Plot gaps and unlikely scenarios predominated the "dramatic" offerings. Not looking forward to the arrival of the kids...Star Trek: The Younger Generation? No, thank you. If New-Kirk is any indication, the new boys are going to be shallow imitations of the originals. Somebody please dump New-Kirk out an airlock!!!
Can we just see the trailer without people taking ADVANTAGE OF THE SERIE do some commentary about it and profit
The musical episode was wack. Worst episode of any Star Trek show ever. Hands down. I get angry thinking about it

I find that SNW has a lot of the same kind of humor as the Original Series. Humor that I missed and is sorely missing in ST: Discovery. Right? Check.

Don't waste your time on this posting. It tells you NOTHING new, it is just 50% the writers strike and 50% what happened in seasons 1/2, which we all, already know. total waste.

We don't want no season 3. Just started binge watching deep space 9 which used to be my least favorite show back then and I must say in hindsight Rick Berman seams like a genius extraordinaire compared to this kurtzmann bozo. Please stop destroying star trek! We've had enough. All these people need to be fired.
They got to season 3 after so many woke pc mistakes in seasone1. Did anyone of the writers watch the original series??
