Before, he was so used to being able to lift, throw, threaten and punch his way through anyone smaller than him, but not only did he get his first real defeat at the hands of Gomez Addams, but Gomez didn't even do it out of malice, he was just having fun. You can tell Gordon's between impressed and frightened.

4:13 Pugsley forgets to put his hand up on the arm so Wednesday can buckle the strap. I just get this feeling that they did that scene several times because Pugsley kept forgetting to put his hand on there, and Wednesday gets this subtle sassy look on her face like "put your dang arm on there!"
I love Pugsley and his road sign-stealing; it's so random, it's hilarious
I really love the passion raul brought to the part of gomez. His love for his family is so powerful from his wife and children to his own brother he's so desperate to make ammends with. And I have to mention the energy he brings when wrestling with fester to the fencing at the beginning and end of the film. All just terrific. Hard to top a performance like this one.
Pugsley's not the sharpest knife in the drawer. He's the older sibling and just does what Wednesday tells him to do.
And here I was thinking Wednesday was the eldest lol
Pugsley is the younger sibling in the movies. I think it’s more fitting considering Wednesday has a darker personality than him.

Gomez and morticia are forever the greatest lovebird couples who are madly in love with each other and being so romantic towards each other. Raul juila is forever remembered as the great gomez addams who started off so very funny and was so very good portraying his character for the movie.

Idk why but when my mom was a little girl she was terrified of this show and she's still a little scared of it today.
Not everyone has a dark sense of humor, nor do they appreciate one. She'd pretty much fit in with the neighbors that complain about the Addams antics. But now that your mother's older, she probably understands the humor more. Either that or like everyone else, Lurch scared the crap out of her.
Shanethefilmmaker I always loved these movies except for all the electrocution stuff in the 2nd film...I've always had a pretty dark/sardonic sense of humor but that particular method of killing always squicked me out/scared me pretty bad. It still kinda does.
But looking back on these films, I gotta say, the 2nd film is *criminally* underrated.
Wednesday's subplot with that camp always spoke to me the most, being both the quiet weird girl *and* a racial minority. Very well done writing & still relevant to this day.
With me, the first time I watched Addams Family was the Saban 1990s one. Due to how shoddy the set looked I initially mistook it for Beetleborgs and assumed Fester was Flabber with a shaved head. But once I understood the show I liked it and welcomed all different versions. With the films being my fave. When it comes to the Addams and cultural relevancy it's because they have no single race to relate to. If you look carefully you'll see three sets of minority categories they fit into. In terms of nationality, they seem to originate from Russia since Gomez mentioned having Cossack Cousins. But they also seem to take to French ('Tish that's french.) Italian and in the case of the movies, Hispanic and Native as well. The former of which to better appeal to Raul Julia and the latter due to Wednesday's extensive knowledge of the atrocities regarding the European and Native relations. Because this started in the 50s and 60s it's no surprise they are predominantly white, (Hell they'd be white anyway in order to make themselves look more undead.), but I could see them having POC members of the family in the future. The second minority set is religious, they seem to have some christian roots since they do seem to have a marital sex thing, but that seems more of an option and less of a strict rule, they obviously have satanic roots since Morticia still seeks the dark forces to join their hellish crusade and they seem to embody wicca as well. I remember during the scene of the big family dance there was a girl who wore an ensemble that looked less Gothic and more Wiccan. Then there's the physical minority. They have family members and acquaintances whom have changes in their phyiscal structure such as Lumpy being a hunchback and Itt being a body of hair. As well as the possibility of witches, zombies and vampires in their families. They take all these and while still make no qualms regarding how dangerous and repulsive they are, make them loveable and misunderstood. Gomez for example, his need to fence his accountant aside, is a nice guy and a philanthropist. This whole first movie would have been avoided if Tully who Gomez adored for his shiftyness, simply asked him for a loan. He would have done it.

I may have seen clips of it but I don't recall watching it. And I've seen maybe 2 episodes of the 1960s version as a kid.
I would watch the cartoon show a few times too.
I dunno, I just always found these films to be the best adaptation of "Addams Family" lore.
Christopher Lloyd himself agrees & he grew up faithfully reading the original one panel comic strips in the 40s & 50s.
Yeah even as a kid I picked up on the fact that Gomez is Latino lol (I'm not myself)
It was the one made in 1998 called "The New Addams Family" Kinda sorta a continuation of Addams Family Reunion, since Wednesday's actress was the only one from that movie to go on the show. It was produced by Saban and Fox entertainment. It essentially mostly recycled episodes from the old 60s show, but also had some original ideas as well. John Astin, Gomez himself guest starred frequently as Gomez' father. My personal fave in that particular one being, "Death Visits The Addams Family." Where after so many times Gomez and co. were able to avoid and survive deadly stunts, Death himself decides to claim Gomez in person. But Gomez challenges Death.
I seen the 90s cartoon after that, the movies after that and the 60s show after that. I used to have TV Land and I caught the episode where Fester wanted to shoot his neighbor in the back.
With me I didn't know nor cared about his nationality as a kid, as long he was entertaining. However before I knew Raul's nationality, I initially assumed he was Italian and the whole rowing through the vault moat while singing opera didn't help matters either.

its a cover of Django Reinhardt, not sure the track name, I think Cavalerie but it was used in the original mafia game about 20 or so years ago in one of the cutscenes, quite possibly because someone wondered the same damn thing and wanted to use it there.

This was my favorite movie as a kid, & now I'm in my late 30's, I still adore this film. As an adult though, i realize there are a few things I never really considered until now... So, Gran-ma-ma is Morticia's mother, right? Both of Fester & Gomez' parents are both dead, correct? So that means Morticia married into the family - kind of a _deep-cut_ question but, what was Morticia's maiden name? Is her father _✌🏻alive✌🏻_ in this cannon?
Morticia's maiden name was Frump
Originally Grandmama is actually Gomez's Mother and Granny Frump is Morticia's mother, her father being Grandpa Frump who is dead. Uncle Fester was also originally Morticia's uncle and the brother to Granny Frump. Grandpa Droop was Morticia's Grandfather.
In the old black and white television show, Gomez originally was supposed to marry Morticia's older sister, Ophelia Frump, but he fell in love with Morticia and Ophelia eloped with Cousin IT during the wedding ceremony.
