That's where mental toughness comes into play. Hence, one could imagine the fire that social media would've lit under him and the amount of revenge games he would've put out.

Kobe lost to a much superior team and managed to take them to 7 games. Those Lakers had no business competing with the Suns.
MJ was losing to a lot of superior teams early in his career for same reasons Kobe was losing.
If there was anything to remove Kobe from the GOAT conversation, its not this series.
And how did you not notice what Kobe was trying to do?
What got the Lakers the 3-1 lead was Kobe not shootin a lot of shots and focusing on getting his teammates involved and playing more defense.
In the Game 6 he scores 50 and loses.
In Game 7 he scores 20 in the first half efficiently and is down 20. Clearly from his perspective taking a lot more shots wasn't working, so he was trying to revert back to their previous game plan and it just didn't work.

Good video but a few points I want to address:
    1. Kobe in the 1st half shot 8-13 for 23 points and they were down 15. Phil went to kobe at halftime and said they need to get other guys involved. If you remember that entire series they got other guys involved and had a more balanced approach which is why they had a 3-1 lead to begin with. During the regular season kobe averaged 40+ against the suns and they still lost 3 out of their 4 games. In fact the only game they won, Nash sat out.
    2. Kobe in his tnt interview with Charles mentioned that going up against the suns they needed to get others involved. These were the Dantoni suns of 7 seconds and less so kobe scoring a bunch of points just feeds right into their fast break free flowing offense. They were trying to slow the pace down by pounding the ball inside. If they were going up against a different team who played at a slower pace I’m sure kobe would have been much more aggressive.
    3. Michael Jordan shot 8 times for an entire playoff game in game 5 of the 1989 ecf against the pistons. To put that into context Doug Collins after game 4 said they needed to get other guys involved and Michael pouted and took 8 shots. This was before social media and the internet so everyone forgets.
With all that being said kobe definitely deserves a fair level of criticism for that game 7 performance. Being a huge Kobe fan one of the things that drove me crazy about his games is that he would get into these extreme modes and stick with it. There would be countless games where he would spend one half just passing and not shooting at all. Then he would spend other half’s shooting damn near every time he touched the ball. He’s done this countless times throughout his career but everyone brings up that game 7 because of the magnitude. Jordan had a much more balanced approach and had a great feel of when to be aggressive and when to get others involved. Phil has alluded to this in a few interviews. Everybody singles out that game 7 to diminish his legacy but for every all time great (even Jordan) you can point out a game or games that were aberrations. It happens. That game didn’t put kobe out of the Goat conversation. Michael was just simply a better basketball player point blank period.

LETS NOT FORGET THAT KOBE KEPT THE LAKERS FROM GETTING SWEPT IN 04.
WHO CAME THRU IN THE CLUTCH OF GAME 2?? WHO LED THE WAY IN OVERTIME?? It wasn’t Shaq, Malone or Payton..
And if you expected (back in 06) for the 7th seed lakers to beat the 2nd best team in the NBA in 5, please reply to me because I’m having a hard time believing anyone expected Kobe and the lakers to win that series with that squad. That’s like expecting the clippers to beat the warriors after they lost game 5 this year.. cmon bruh. Y’all can’t be serious 😂 the suns were clearly the better team from the jump but since it’s Kobe with no squad, he’s expected to win. Lebron literally still gets coddled for getting swept in 2007 and 2018 because of the team that was around him but Kobe gets no pass. It’s Kobe so even if the lakers are the 8th seed with only 30 wins somehow, Kobe is supposed to win no matter how bad the team is. Lol
