@@kamigriff love your suggestions and the lead on drop dead diva is on another Netflix show I like called Sweet Magnolias which is a nice romcom dramedy sitcom.
It's basically a show about being a showoff. I would go as far as to call it propaganda to put men of color down, and to sexualize women. What they don't show is that many of these lawyers have coke and alcohol problems(can't really function in bed). Also most lawyers especially at this level are engaged in high levels of corruption(which is bad for your state of mind hence the coke and alcohol) and for these women abusing their youth, its not so cool when their old, gross and no one wants them anymore.

Helen Wan, the writer of the book this is based on and also a producer behind this show, is a genius! She studied English Lit in an elite liberal arts college when it was very rare for immigrants/POC to do so and then went to a law firm out of peer pressure. She didn’t like it there and, after 15 years in corporate law, went back into creative writing/diversity consultation and now writes and speaks about her time in the corporate law world.

But honestly I kinda ship Ingrid with Z, he's such a sweetheart so far and there were more chemistry there than with Jeff. I mean even Ingrid and Dan had more chemistry than that but whatever... 😅 No offense, Dominic 😬

And they haven't even showed him after everything. Like what happened with his diamond earrings or how is he? Him, Z and Justin were the only normal and nice characters in my opinion and they were treated so badly! Well, Z got Sun Corp in the end so that is something I guess...

I struggle with movies like this so much. Yup, it’s gonna be mindless trash, it also, from what people are saying looks to be equality baiting and so I don’t want to watch it based on those things. I say all that but I’ll watch it, eventually, when temptation wares me down and I’m in hospital or something and need a movie that requires very few brain cells to consume and despite feeling passionate about all the issues this movie is clearly going to contribute to, I’m part of the problem because I will totally cave and then I’ll feel incredibly guilty. Also, people will hate watch it. The fundamental issue is that between the people like me who shamefully lack self control, those who don’t see it or don’t care and can’t wait to see it and the hate watchers, it’ll bring in enough of an audience to justify the production of so many movies exactly like it. Does anybody else genuinely struggle with this? So often people tell me to take a chill pill, it’s just a movie and I’m being beyond ridiculous to devote this much energy to it. Am I alone here? This film is the epitome of a guilty pleasure for me, in the actual sense of the word. I have a chronic illness that often finds me in hospital for things or in bed for a day pretty frequently, that contributes to why I eventually succumb to consume these movies but I don’t think that really stands up as an excuse. So, should I take peoples advice and just chill out or should I keep trying to stop consuming because “every vote counts” as it were?
@@Andy-nv6ys It's a tv series. For me it was more the dialogue, didn't feel too exciting. Maybe something to watch while you're doing housework at the same time? Hehe. 🙂
@@Andy-nv6ys yes at the same thing it's the most stereotypical and common garbage that has been going on for decades she's an Asian she is more relatable to whites than she is her own culture she has two friends one is the token white girl who is identifiable with her culture, and then she always has the only African American person in the group and of course he has to be gay, because we as a culture cannot be successful or intelligent without being gay and he's the witty gay guy as well with gay sex on the brain 24/7 oh yeah this is a very original production

And you like that right and he has to be the token gay guy in the show who also happens to be black because that's the only representation that they can show in these garbage TV shows now if this wants to be original they should have had the guy that she's pursuing as a person of color it can be African-American it can be Hispanic Indian why does it have to be the token white guy, they're just selling the image that they've been sending for decades that the only thing that is desirable for anyone as a person of color has to be there trophy white guy because any other race is undesirable how is this a great show this is misleading, she had a white guy on Teen Wolf now she's pursuing two white guys in this TV show, and she makes a statement yes I'm a person of color I have a hard time so then why are you pursuing white guys then if you have a hard time and you're so proud of being a person of color it's a joke.

@@consciousgentile5141 that's not the issue look at the trailer itself one of her friends is white so you don't have no Asian friends it shows a clip of her mother that's the only Asian in the whole clip then it shows another clip of her gay black friend who has sex on the mind the way he talks
and look at the comment she works all the time that is another stereotype about Asians they work and they don't relax it's a backwards way of thinking, and then the first thing she got to do is get involved with a white guy so her past boyfriend was white and then she makes a comment iam a person of color but then where is your past boyfriend that's Asian just because it's a law firm in New York City that doesn't mean that she got to gear towards only white guys, there's no Asians in the company or any other non white employees , who are straight it's a stereotypical show, the point of show that when you make it in New York City as a successful lawyer you got to get you a white trophy for a boyfriend or husband that's literally what the show is saying.

LOVED THIS SERIES!!! Thank goodness I didn't give up after episode 1 as I thought it was a too corporate-y series even though I come from law background myself. I loved every single character, every outfit, every hot scene and THE TWIST AT THE END GOT ME SHOOK!!! ❤️

SEEING ARDEN IS AMAZING
THIS SHOW IS WAY BETTER THAN YOU THINK! I just finished it and it’s amazing, it’s representing minorities the right way and giving us excellent drama and thrill along the way. The cliff hanger at the end was perfect because if not for that little detail, who knows how Ingrid’s path would’ve turned out? Seriously amazing.
PS. Nick and Justin deserved better, someone fix that in season 2.
Looks extremely formulaic: from the gay and witty coworker to the basic white man whos the object of her affection. Damn this could’ve stayed put.

I read the book. It's not what you think it is. Anyway this book came way ahead of the whole Asian movement like crazy rich Asians movie.
