  • Band of the Household Cavalry marching up to Hyde Park to take part in the Cavalry Sunday event near the Hyde Park Bandstand, in front of the Duke of Edinburgh.
The parade is organised by the Combined Cavalry Old Comrades Association with both serving and retired officers and soldiers participating.
Apologies for the first part of the video, still having issues following and recording the bands using my bad arm, hope it does not spoil the video.

Well done sir! Thank you from the USA. As a "Vet", who taught drill & ceremony, I can't but help being impressed by the marching ability and "close order" maintenance demonstrated by the Vets here. While our Vets do march in ceremony, usually locally, our Memorial Day, I believe, is highlighted by a "little" get together called "Rolling Thunder". Thank you for the post, again well done!

What a Beautiful Spring Day in 'Ole London Town! And what better way to Enjoy it than to be in Hyde Park listening to the Sound of Military Music played by The Brilliant Band of the Household Cavalry on Cavalry Sunday. Already I've seen a Couple of things Different to Previous Years. This is the First time I've seen one of The 2 Drum Horses at this Parade & Highly Unusual as The Mounted Drummer is wearing State Uniform (Unchanged in Style since 1685) & The Rest of the Band is Dismounted & in Ceremonial Uniform. I think that's Major "Juno", the First Mare ever to be a Drum Horse for the Household Cavalry & She Officially Finished her 2 Years Training when She Paraded with the Regiment at King Charles lll first Trooping The Colour as Monarch last Year. She's a Beautiful Shire Horse, Bred at Dyfed Shire Horses in Wales & has been in the Regiment since 2021. She could be having "Refresher Training" ahead of the Trooping the Colour Parade in Early June, She's certainly handling the Job alright, those 2 Silver Kettle Drums She's carrying have a Combined Weight of 112 Kilograms (247 lb) & on Top of that She has to Carry an Adult Drummer & the Weight of Her own Uniform & the People & Vehicles don't appear to be fazing her at all.
I saw another Unusual sight on another Channel too, Several Officers wearing a Red Tunic, Black Trousers with a Yellow Stripe, not the Normal Red, but also wearing Helmets with the Red Horsehair Plumes of the Blues & Royals. Rather Confusing as The Blues & Royals Regiment wear Blue Tunics. The Red Tunics are Worn by the Life Guards Regiment, with their Helmet Plumes being White Horsehair. The Only thing I can think of is that Maybe these Particular Uniforms came about for the New Level of Officers who Command the 2 Combined Regiments after the 1992 Amalgamation of the 2 Regiments to form the New Household Cavalry Regiment in The Household Division. I'm sure Someone knows & can Enlighten Me.
The Band of the Household Cavalry are at the Top of their Game as you would Expect from a Band that Regularly Performs at all the Top State Functions & their Performance today makes it very Obvious. Excellent Music & Beautiful Drill. As Enjoyable as it's been getting here, Now comes My Favourite Part of This Annual Parade. The March Past of the Serving Cavalrymen & The March Past of The Veterans, Officers Correctly Attired in Bowler Hats & Carrying a Furled Umbrella, which is Not to be Opened No Matter how Rainy it may Get. The Pride of the Veterans is Palpable as they March again with the Regimental Brothers in Arms & I love the way the Band Plays The Regimental Marches & Old Marches to Welcome each Unit as they Pass the Official Dias. Well Done Gentlemen & Ladies, Retired from the British Army Perhaps, but You Definitely Still Have it!
I wondered who'd be taking the Salute today, the Last few Years it was Prince Edward the Duke of Kent, but now well into his Twilight Years, he's Stepped Back a Little from Public Duties Bless him. I'm Glad to see it's Prince Edward the Duke of Edinburgh, as he's taken up some of The Military Roles the Duke of Kent has stepped Back from. The more I see HRH The Duke of Edinburgh these Days, the more I'm struck by the fact that He Looks Very Much like his Mother, The Late Queen Elizabeth ll & how very much his Respect for the Armed Services Mirrors that of Hers, Quiet, Proud, Solid & Always Supportive.
I mustn't forget to mention, The Band of The Household Cavalry Always Acknowledges & Pays their Respect to The Memorial in Hyde Park, that remembers The July 1982 Hyde Park & Regents Park Bombings, Killing & Wounding Cavalrymen & their Horses.
This is Another Brilliant Video Mr B! I don't know what you're Apologising for at the Start of the Video, I even went Back & watched the Start again & couldn't see anything that Warranted an Apology for. It's a Great Video & I especially liked hearing The Band as they Approached & watching them Front on for a bit, a view we rarely get of any of the Bands. I hope all that time holding a Camera up, even with your Pole thingy to see over the heads of Spectators, didn't cause you too much Pain or Stiffness. I'm sure you were Filming for far Longer than the almost 30minutes we see of this Video. You need to Pace yourself Man, things are going to get a lot more hectic shortly & you don't want to keep knocking yourself about each Weekend & spend the Week flat on your Back Recuperating, just to do it all again the next weekend. I will now stop Nagging you about it, but please take Care.
Thank you for this Excellent Video, it's Good to have you Back!

@@jamessprenger7340 I Totally Agree! It's my Favourite Instrument in these Marching Bands. My Favourite Bass Trombonist is Sgt David Lockwood of The Irish Guards, That Man has Lungs of Kevlar. The one & only time I tried to play a Trombone, I managed a Sound that was a Cross between a Tom Cat on the Prowl & Fingernails on a Blackboard for about 5 Seconds & almost Blew my Ear Drums & Split My Cheeks in the Process. I have nothing but the Utmost Respect for anyone who can get a Musical Note out of One.

They were there celebrating the centenniel of their memorial there which was unveiled by field marshall haig in may 1924.. They played a part in the last post ceremony along with the london scottish pipes and drums band. Before all marched through the gate in respect of all the fallen.

Very well done, when our Cavalry marched in Sydney on Anzac Day 2024 (czcams.com/video/Wx0J2D7M8-E/video.htmlsi=KmIJD9xbbi0-vhUW), I'm afraid I had to overlay music. Just wondering, does the household cavalry band play when mounted on the march anymore. Our last cavalry band was dismounted in 1914. We did horse mount a drummer in 1985, and the late TPR White did play on the move. I never did make it to Cavalry Sunday, and now at 79 probably will not.
