The paint on the MR2 looks absolutely incredible. As a professional detailer I know exactly how much time and effort it takes to get it there from where it was before. You are the real deal. Would love to see more content focused on detailing and paint correction! 👍👌✌
Keith Olsen the paint is a 5 footer, 😉. It’s 3 shades of red and has some clear coat lifting where it was taped and resprayed by the previous owner, plus random dings along the sides.
I know the feeling, finish the GTO, take it for a drive, blow up the engine.... Keep at it, and I will too
*Enjoy the Goodies! That was the first time I've ever hand painted a bird house. Also I didn't think anyone would ever make a Subaru night light so there you go Sarah! The Pink Onion is a Paper Lantern from Japan. XD.*
great job and dont worry, just because its inside doesnt mean it wont get a bird family. our Home Depot stores are filled with birds avoiding the heat (and yes i do realize its more of a decorative piece)
Two steps forward and one step back. That's just how project cars go. Keep your head up and keep fighting. You rock Sarah. Josh from WY.
Project life is not easy but we are rooting for you, GET IT!!!
I have nothing to add here other than my gratitude for your uncommonly accurate usage of "momentarily"...most people incorrectly use it to mean "in a moment", where here you've properly used it to mean "for a moment"
I really appreciate your patience for the elderly Mr. Dos, he is a 91 model, in human years that is 81 years, and you know, elderly gentlemen can get a little leaky...- it comes with age... But you stand faithfully by his side! That is what I like with you americans, you never give up! I am so happy for him, you found him, or was it he who found you?
Cheers.
Love the nails! you are so fearless and persistent as you approach each problem. Great content. thank you.
Hang in there Miss Sarah, if project cars were easy every fool would be doing them.
Not just some of us. It will all be worth it! That's what I tell myself!
You can match your Ignition and outside door locks to match, Just pull your key code off the Passenger side door lock cylinder, have a lock smith cut a fresh key from the original code then rekey the ignition to match.
Mr Dos videos are special
Each one tugs at the heart strings, a little more. This is a special build to all of us Sarah.❤️
Just found your channel about three weeks ago and have binge watching your episodes while I’m recovering Keep up the great work on your channel enjoying every episode
peeeerv 😆
Sarah if you read this, thanks for these videos. I have really enjoyed the MR2 build. Hey your videos really help put a smile on my face, and I look forward to them so much, just to forget about everything going on in ones life.
Keep at it on the MR2. It will be well worth it when done. I know it's being a pain in the butt right now and we're rooting for you. Plus you have mad skills and can tackle any job. 😍
As a fellow desert dweller and a Jeep loon (i.e. I rarely use my AC because it is pointless in an LJ)...my advice to you is PLEASE always have lotsa water with you and sip constantly. That heat was beating you up and it shouldn't be. You looked exhausted! As far as the MR2 goes....CAN'T WAIT to see you finish it up! It is beautiful!!!!! Keep the faith to the finish and you will have tons to be proud of! I work different types of tech projects and I often get frustrated to point of just tossing things....but I just walk away, let my analytical side take over, take a breath, get Zen and go back to it. Anything worth doing is worth doing well!!!!
I love the pouty look at 9:00 !
She deserves it she's put a lot of work and money into that car looks great.
I love how you stay positive with all the drama Mr Dos is giving you. Keep that up! 👍👍
Guess what? More than 140 000 guys have a weakness for a girl with coolant in her hair!
You're awesome Sarah! We're rooting for you.
RobWhittlestone hey, I have 4% female viewers!
The MR2 looks so good in red!
I drove a black MR2 turbo back in the 1990's and fell in love with the car. I haven't owned one yet but after seeing yours I now know that I want a red one! I'm really looking forward to seeing more of the build! Thanks for the great videos 👌👌
Two years later, still working it! Almost done though! Wow! Great work.
You'll fix the leaks. It takes time to isolate all the problems and the heat contributes to these problems because the components get soft and expand. Enjoyed the video.
Sarah I thoroughly enjoy all your videos. They are entertaining, positive and inspiring. Your attitude keeps me going on my own project cars...all 5 of them.
The finish line is so close on Mr. Dos Sarah. Hang in there! That is a beautiful car! Job Well Done!
One step forward two steps back some days building cars .My friend originally from OH just moved back from AZ due to the heat . Charge pipe made your day . Funny
The little coolant hoses that were leaking only feed the throttle body, they aren't really needed. You can just loop the hard lines with a short piece of hose and delete them
Your positive attitude in the face of adversity is staggering. Mr Dos will come good eventually and reward you richly with driving fun. So lovely to watch mail time, your face lights up beautifully. Keep on keeping on Sarah.
It is dry heat in Arizona, that is what people say. It is like hell out there, it makes Florida weather like winter. Great video love the car.
The nice part about having a leak on one of your projects, is you can see exactly where it’s leaking because everything is so clean!! You could probably work on those cars dressed in white.
By virtue of the fact that Mr. Dos refuses to cooperate with you, it's insuring your future as a You Tube superstar! Keep knocking out those problems and we'll keep watching you do it. Love your channel. I like how you sprinkle in car reviews, between garage repair sessions.
Ct20b good little turbo..... I kept a ct9 on my turbo tercel for years!!!!! Ran like a dream... this is relevant because for about a month I ran my ct9 with no coolant lines.... buy some time... good luck with mr.2
When you do replace your O-ring... to prevent it from leaking again, use some black sealer (oil proof gasket maker) around the O-ring, inside the valley of the O-ring, and also on the cam-side of the distributor, that way when you reinstall the distributor, you're not dealing with a seepage of oil, in case it's not just the O-ring, but the space between the distributor and the cam bridge.
Those headlights would look awesome for the Focus. Double check that they're for LHD cars cuz the beam pattern is different for UK headlights. You wouldn't want to blind oncoming traffic :)
That little service station is a cool Gift.
Good reason to keep underside of your car clean. Easier to identify sources of leaks... You are much more patient than I am Sarah...
That fuel cut defender is a pain in the ass. Get the HKS one with a simple dial on it. And a turbo timer will help with the gurgling and cool off the turbo. Just a suggestion.
This is reminding me of the late 80's D5 Cat bulldozer we've had for a bit over a year now; it's been whack-a-mole with leaks since we got it
I'm digging the "period correct" mods like wheels and air intake. I especially LOVE the bov sound!
No "stu tu tu tu tu" just "psshhh" as you let off the throttle. As it SHOULD BE!Music to my ears!
My daily fix of Sarah-n-tuned favourite bits. wagging polished fingernail, all those intros and slide-ins, self deprecation, distractions, awkwardness, enthusiasm and hard work, humour, awesome work tips and always 'can do attitude', bright, breezy and a MUST watch. Mr Dos looks great BTW.
You show great perseverance young grasshopper, it gives strength to others
At 8:39, I think the best mod you can do to this car is to fix the blinking colon on the dashboard-clock. How annoying that must be. Nice video, Sarah.
Saturday at 4pm here in Tucson and its 112 outside right now!
You did such an amazing job on the paint. Love it. Such a nice car. Great work.
Love this car. Please body match the side molding. It makes it look much cleaner and more modern.
Amazing! You can read the license plates on the wall in her paint 7:18 and it looks great in the alignment shop lighting also. Wish I had mad ass detailing skills as Sarah. Leaking momentary but it's SHINES 🌝
Congratulations! After so much work you're on the final stretch to the finish line and after that it's just regular maintenance as you enjoy the reborn car!
I feel your pain, it took me almost a year to get my project 944 running. As soon as I got it going, I had to tear it apart to do all the maintenance it needed. It doesn’t have working AC either, it was 96 today with about 70% humidity today in VA. That car looks great, I have the same Falken tires, good rubber. Keep up the good work.
Dang you have the paint on the MR2 looking like showroom condition. 👍 👍
Once I also spent about 2.5 hours fighting with a coolant hose clamp. My mk3 vr6 had broke the front motor mount, which then punctured the oil cooler, and it was winter so that was a cold night in the garage. If it helps, there was definitely an oil leak somewhere too I am sure because VW.
You need to mix your heat with our cold here in Melbourne , woke up to 0°c. Got to love it
Chin up Sarah. One job at a time, just keep plugging away and you’ll get there👍
Reminds me of when I had to replace the heater core in my Integra. I kept having coolant leaks over and over and over. Finally I broke down and ordered every single coolant hose brand new OEM Honda and just replaced everything.
Tell ya what sweetie thats just how it is with older cars! I respect the fact you address the problems head on and don't procrastinate. Good work stay cool as posible!
As long as you don't give up and keep fixing it eventually things will run out that could possibly break! Don't give up, I know, I've been in this boat before. I spent 5 grand on a daily driver over the course of 3 years JUST REPLACING failing parts and leaking lines and gaskets, there's still more even, but eventually it'll run and drive great. It's a lot of work but hey, you'll have the sweetest MR2 around, who wants a boring econobox when you can drive history?!
You are seeing the reality of restoring cars. Doesn't have to be a full restoration, even a partial, or even just fixing the daily driver will do the same as it gets older. But it's especially true of cars you buy used. The problems increase as you fix things because everything on the car is old until you replace it, and some repairs by previous owners weren't all that great either.
You are doing great. Keep your spirits up. You have many who are with you in this effort. MrDos and TeeterTot will both prove to be worthy of you. 🙂
Love the Mk2 my favorite car. They are well worth the work as there's very few left in such good condition.
Suggestion : Install a hybrid electric water heater with a heat pump on top. It heats your water while also cooling your garage.
Mr Dos marking his territory. Well done for sticking at it especially in that heat, you'll get there.
2 hands on the wheel!! First lesson of autocrossing and rally!!
knightyyz 🙄I bet I’m faster with one hand on the wheel then some of these “autocross instructors” 😉 #godhand lol
I can relate. I'm having vapour lock and fuel leak problems on my '67 Firebird.
You rock Sarah! Keep at it please, I really look forward to your vids. That car gonna be a little beast
depending on the leaks and repairs needed maybe blow the car apart do a basic rebuild replace hoses gaskets freshen-up etc and put back together 👀
it might be easier if the cars apart.
andrew wilgus ...go back to this time last year in my videos 😉
In case you're still having trouble finding that coolant hose, this might help, or confuse you more... That hose is known to Toyota parts catalogs as Bypass Hose #4.
For US market Turbos, that hose has a vin split at chassis build date 07/91, before being PN 16282-88380, after being PN 16281-88380.
That said, you have a JDM engine, with an unknown chassis build date. JDM turbos also have the same build date split, with before being the same as US market, after splitting into 4 different numbers based on build date.
From a few pictures, I cannot tell the difference between the 16281 and 16282 parts, but one probably will come very close to fitting, and then piss you off.
Positivity, literally the best reason to subscribe to Sarah.
Sounds strange but run your forearms under cold water to cool your body temp on hot days. A local firefighter told me that years ago, and it totally works.
You are such a nice way to love and experience being a car enthusiast. I'm glad you're here. Best to you.
I love mr2s but the 3sgte was short on alot of ways, love and hate relationship @Sarah you should swap that motor out for a 2gr, and you will never have those issues and have more power stock.
Don't get discouraged, Sarah. You looked a little down.
A swamp cooler would help, in the garage.
The problem with wishing for one time when everything is going great IS the rest of the time is Krap BUT everytime i buy another car i reserch annything that can go wrong with it and then i am prepared for the fallout and be prepared
Sarah i think it's wonderful the way you have you videos don't ever give up on your dreams I think it's wonderful that you're outside the box and can inspire other females that y'all too can work on vehicles it's not just men my mom's would get out there and work on our vehicles with us two boys I miss them time
Don't give up, it will be so good..., Oldskool is so kool.
This is what shake down runs are for.
The car is over 20 years old so leaks are gonna happen, keep at it you'll get them sorted!
Gorgeous MR2
WOW! Sarah love the sound Mr. Dos puts out that lovely turbo blow-out is the sound of heaven! Love this segment! Stay chill, Sarah!
Your Mr2 is pretty sick, this was the first video from your channel I've seen and decided to subscribe can't wait to see what's next ☺️
Cool Car Lift! I need one of those. Good for low cars.
Glad you got it done. Now go find some corners! I had an NA one for over 10 years. So much fun.
Thats the life of owner projects though. Youll find and fix it for sure! And your nails are still on point!
OMG I hate heat so much and I feel ya. Can get to 110 F here sometimes but a lovely 70 F at the moment, willing my cool your way Sarah.
I love that MR2.....keep up the good work. God bless you.
Check the thermostat you were hearing gurgling which is a sign that it may stuck or installed backwards and causing back pressure and leaks. It happens more than you think. You are in the land of extreme temps so...
Viewer19 luckily, I installed the thermostat, and it’s in a video too just Incase I need to look back. 😆
The Harbour Freight floor pads are good to lay on for working also.
'A knife... oh wait, that's my knife'
This killed me!
Dave that genuinely went through my mind... that’s what the sad part is.
Haha, i laughed out loud 🤣
Seriously was about to type the same thing. LOL.
I spat out my tea laughing
Yay MR2! Boo, manual boost controller and fuel cut defender not installed. Damn leaks, damn them all to hell! Been learning a lot though. Thanks for the laughs.
Cant wait for that car review
I know how it can get when it's hot. It doesn't get quite as hot here, but it gets to 110 sometimes and over 100 is pretty common. When I think of old school intake I think of the four barrel carburetor on my car.
Was wondering why it had been just a bit since your last video, now I know why! Things like your leaks can really get a person down but chin up and charge up that hill, you'll have Mr. Dos road worthy in no time and I can't wait to see how it performs with more boost myself! Take care, stay safe and hopefully cool.
Ayeee I own a MK1B supercharged love it to death! And cool thing about mr2s is the side vents are actually functional 🤙
What a great camera angle at the beginning
08:23 Looks like Toyota MR2 catalogue picture ! Nice scenery :) Well , a car is a machine which means it comes with various parts and many , many parts need TLC . Some parts every 1000 miles , some parts every 100.000 miles . But every part will have a date on it . I can see why it is not always fun , but you get the reward(s) in the end , when you're in it , mile after mile !
All that work and didn't break one nail! Talented! You need your own TV show, like horsepower tv on Sunday morning's!
What is a cowboy's favorite car?
Audi, partner
As frustrating as Mr. Dos can be, just think of how great it will feel when you get everything sorted and you get to blast around in him! That will be be the feeling of a job (or lots of jobs) well done!
the MR2 is my bucket list car😍 i hope i can fit in one...
MR dos is looking damn good Sarah.
3:59 is truly the look of despair...and it is a look worn by everyone who has bought an old sports car and dreams of simply driving...
Your doing great. Little problems, you got it.
You need the simplified beauty of a classic car. For you I suggest a Datsun Z ( s30)
You can fit comfortable
You can see ,reach and fix very simple tasks.
Thet are climbing the value charts.
Your in a rust free area to find one.
You will look great in it.
They are " kick ass cool"
You work on complicated modern machines that have soooooooo many systems tied together.
Look at 240Z, 260Z, 280Z (s30) it will bring you to that state of fixing and driving and driving and driving.
8:02 calendar cover!
Hi Sarah, watching Roman Mica from TFLcar and he used your reference on your car scoring.... the beans. THE BEANS IS STICKING.... LOL
