  • How well does the i3+ compare to the bigger brother i7+ and the s9+ in mapping a larger floor plan?
This will show a map at the end of a run but you cannot really do anything with that map.

@@AdamsReviews This video was very helpful, I was considering this and the RR E4, I can't do a LIDAR bot as I have a 1400 square foot floor plan but two of the rooms are a step down off of the main hallway and kitchen, after calling both roborock and ecovac I was told that lidar robots would be confused because they would map those two rooms that they can't access, both companies suggested either the E4 or the ecovac U2 which are both gyroscopic robots so I thought I would consider the I3 as well. I would be curious to see how the E4 does an a whole house cleaning thanks again for all your hard work

I like how comprehensive the test in the video was. The difference between the i3 and upper tier models was not very clear on the Roombas own website. Some wider shots to get a feel for the floor plan would have helped to see how much it reflected my own floor plan where I hope to get one of these robots. Great video overall.

Got the i3+ for my parents and it works great. Yes it's not comparable to my S9 in features but it cleans their ~900 sqft ( 2 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, long hallway, living room/dining room and kitchen) apartment with no issues. Keep in mind, they just hit the clean button and don't use the app. In addition they have had it for a month already and there is just a bit of dust in the bin bag. It works well enough that I am thinking the i3+ will be good enough for my 2nd floor.

If you are experiencing mapping issues, try turning all the lights on in the house when doing the mapping. I know it sounds weird, but it had some issues for me too, especially with my dark floors until I turned all lights on, then the mapping process just worked as advertised. Only for the initial mapping, it can handle pretty well afterwards. Also it finished in considerably less than an hour to map my entire 72 square meters apartment

We got this unit but I can't get it to map the entire floorplan. Tried 3 times and it keeps losing its way back to the dock and would say it was stuck when all it was is out of power. In addition, every time I tried to restart it, it kept going over the same area again and again. I can't set up separate areas to run like different rooms. I don't even think the software has the ability to recognize different rooms.

I've tried mapping 3 times and it either gets stuck or takes so long 5 hours + that I have to turn it off so I can go to bed. It gets stuck when it vacuums under furniture and over large cords under the beds. It seems to keep redoing the same areas over and over. I plan on returning it and getting a different one. this i3+ is 960/980 series smart, this one was more than capable of having zone cleaning and no go zones if it was set up to actually remember maps, did a comparison with my 960 and the map layout and where it cleaned was SPOT on side by side.so i don't know why they saw fit to basically make this like a 960.you get a map and that's it ,only difference with the i3 is you don't have edge cleaning,it edges while cleaning and goes back to is normal pattern and no dirt detection,no need for that when you have double pass function like the 900 series.

I have the I3 evo and I have a very complicated floorplan. I had to actually block it from returning to it's base, and force it into rooms it didn't think existed. It made a very crude map on the first run. On the first cleaning run it added to the map, and I was able to name all but one small bathroom. I haven't made the second cleaning run. You didn't make a mapping run at all. That was your fault.

I bought an e5 a few weeks ago. Good deal $250 sam's club. Very happy with it. Interesting to me is I have the same question basically. After seeing how well this one works, and it being my first experience with a vacuum robot. I am now questioning if I should've gotten the i3 because of its slightly smarter technology. This one is really good runs 90min. The random pattern it runs is the only thing the bothers me. Where as i guess the i3 is smarter and does rows. I'm debating retuning this for an i3. If you have any new info please share with me. I will say if you close the e5 into a room in your house it's does fantastic. A big open floor plan it just seems so random. But does seem to eventually get everything.

The reason it’s only charging to 60% could be because after 60% the charging speed could slow down. Same with phones and electric cars. Ever noticed that 30% to 40% on ur phone is so much faster than 90%-100%? iRobot might be trying to maximize the charging time to run time ratio. But tbh the battery life should just be better overall. It’s competition has progressed so much in battery life
