  • The latest updated list of robot vacuums we recommend: www.consumeranalysis.com/guid...
    In this video we review the iRobot Roomba i3 and i3+. The i3+ comes with a self-empty dust bin and a Clean Base (self empty station) while the i3 does not. Otherwise, the two robots are identical and so our review applies to both vacuums.
    In the review we analyze the i3's carpet (general and deep cleaning), hard floor, edge, and hair (human and pet) pickup performance. We also discuss the robot's raw performance (CFM and suction), navigation and coverage, battery life, bin size, and noise output.
    0:05 i3 vs i3+
    0:14 CFM
    0:18 kPa
    0:23 Carpet cleaning
    1:21 Carpet deep cleaning
    1:32 Hard floor cleaning
    1:46 Edge Performance
    2:50 Crevice test
    3:00 Human hair test (long hair)
    3:18 Pet hair test (short hair)
    3:48 Navigation and coverage
    5:29 App, battery life, dust bin volume, noise output, climbing threshold, and dimensions
    6:22 Pros and cons
    7:41 General recommendations

    Note: the i3 recently received an OTA firmware update that gives it limited mapping functionality. You can now label, divide, and merge rooms on the map it generates and set it to clean specific rooms. However, you still cannot set clean zones and you still cannot set keep-out zones, which is by far the most important and most useful mapping feature a robot vacuum can have.
    Had the i3 added keep-out zones our recommendations may have changed. But as it stands, we still do not generally recommend the i3 or the i3+.

      funny because Wirecutter recommends the i3 as the best overall robovac

  • @karthikeyanvaideswaran9946

    Great review. One small recommendation is please post the price at the time of review. The reason I mention this is that one of the reasons the video mentions that this might not be a worthwhile one is because of the cost, but the cost may change over time so the audience can decide whether it is worth the price at that time.

    I have a love, hate relationship with I3 plus. Love the self empty base(does great returning to it),with 4 dogs it cleans well and with the floor traking I can run it at night.. The problems are navigation. It spends 90% of the time in one room and misses some. Also with a shag rug, it leaves clumps around it. I also have a 960. It to seems to get the entire house, but has trouble returning to the base. Cleaning is the same.

    Hi do you know any robot vacuums that are best for long hairs? Mine always gets hair tangled in it and looking for a new robot vacuum

    • @consumer-analysis
      @consumer-analysis  Před 2 lety

      I would recommend a Roomba i3, i7, or j7. Models from other brands tend to tangle even worse with longer hair than these Roombas.

    I have 2 floors house. Is it possible to be use on the both floors?
    For example, one day on 1th and then to move the vacuum on the 2nd? Any tips? :)

    • @consumer-analysis
      @consumer-analysis  Před 2 lety +2

      Yes. Simply pick it up, put it on your second floor, and press clean on the robot. After it completes cleaning that floor, it will return to the location where you put it down.

    We own an I3 plus and like your test showed, it does well on carpet compared to hard flooring. We also own a Wyze Robot Vacuum and it out performs the I3 on hard flooring.
    You have a great channel. Keep up the hard work!

  • @sasikanthcheethirala4172

    Now the price of this robot is very less due to some campaign offer. Offer price is for 200 euros . I think it’s very good deal for this price.

  • @Opceedee
    @Opceedee Před rokem +1

    I picked up the i3 plus for a little over 300€, it has been running daily for a week and i can’t really say it does a bad job. It does have trouble getting over the (high) carpet. First run lasted about 3 hours. Now it cleans the house in about an hour. It looks like it does learn from earlier cleaning runs. Unfortunately, there is still no interactive mapping in the app. I might have to get the optional barriers, as it gets stuck on the edge of the stairs every time (I am using a physical barrier for now since I don’t use these stairs that often). For now, this is the biggest minus for this robot.

    • @mickk989
      @mickk989 Před rokem

      Is there already an update that brings mapping?

    • @Opceedee
      @Opceedee Před rokem

      @@mickk989 yes, it suddenly appeared. I still need to use the barriers to prevent it from falling down the stairs (they start with a small step down which is not picked up by the onboard camera), or driving into the food of my cat, but you can use the map to identify rooms and schedule cleaning tasks by room or multiple rooms. Or send it to one place to clean up, in case you need to.

    • @mickk989
      @mickk989 Před rokem

      @@Opceedee thank you for your response, I'm actually looking for new robot (with no mopping). I found conflict informations about that update, so let me confirm - it's possible to order it to "clean kitchen nad living room" for example?
      What this update didn't bring up is multiple floors and closed areas? Those are still available only in high-end models?
      Would you still recommend this device? I'm living in flat with no stairs and I don't have pets🙂

    • @Opceedee
      @Opceedee Před rokem

      @@mickk989 this model (i3+) has only one map. But you can put it on another floor and let it run manually. Yes, you can instruct it to clean 2 or more rooms, when they have been mapped and named. For example, i have it clean the living room 3 times per week, but the kitchen every day. Twice a week it is programmed to clean the bathroom, and once a week it is instructed to clean everything. I do have a cat, and clean the house with a mop once per week, after the roomba has done its tour. It has made swiffering every day obsolete, i like it when i come home and there’s no pet hair, dust or litter on the floor. I do grocery shopping while it cleans the entire floor and can do a quick mop when i get back. It does get stuck between the chair legs from time to time. But it doesn’t bother me that much. Yes, i’d recommend, but i would also like exclusion zones (for example the carpet) that more expensive models offer. For this price, i’d give it 8/10 value.

    • @mickk989
      @mickk989 Před rokem

      @@Opceedee great, I have just 1 floor, don't have a carpets. It's great that it can run singular rooms, that's why I was wondering to buy higher model i5 or i7, but I don't need those additional functions as mentioned above.
      I assume that region doesn't matter for utility features, but I'll ask. Do you live in Europe or elsewhere?
      And one last question, is this clean base working correctly? Or it requires additional effort to maintain (I mean, it's not making a mess inside or around that base)
      Your tips are very helpful🙂 more than official support🙂

    I love how well it works, WHEN it works. It always has connection issues! It goes back to the base and does not empty the bin. It worked for 4 months and now it only works when it wants to. It does not run scheduled at all. Really disappointed and aggravated.
