Stuart, living in Florida, I have learned that sweat can wreck a helmet. Besides regular washing of the insides, try throwing dryer sheets into your helmet after riding and when storing. Also, if you live in the heat, I suggest wearing some sort of beanie or balaclava that absorbs sweat. Will do wonders to save your helmet long term. Thanks for the great videos.
Thats great advice Doug Thank you! I'm sure people will find that useful! thanks for watching!
Hi Stuart, many thanks for your advice on cleaning the pinlock. Just cleaned mine using your instructions and it is now fog-free again :-)
I absolutely love watching your videos! So much so, I had to go out and get my own t120. Best purchase I've ever made in my Life! Keep the videos coming, Stuart.
congratulations on your new bike Zach your obviously a man of taste! Thanks for watching!
Thanks a lot must be the best video I have seen on this. Think I have been living under a stone for 67 years as that is the first time I have seen or heard of a wash bag for doing delicate items.
Cracking video Stuart. As my Flight Sgt in basic training always told me - "you look after your kit, and your kit will look after you" - hence the Armed Forces obsession with 'bulling'. Muc Off make a larger version of their visor spray in a handy spray bottle. I keep that at home and the small bottle with me.
Hi Paul nice to hear from you again! yes ive seen those one of the local bike cafes always have a couple on hand for bikers to use. I just buy the little replacement bottles that fit in my kit, only problem is they keep changing the dimensions of the bottles and the new ones don't fit in my old kit so have now had to get the latest kit version! very annoying! Thanks for watching mate!
I certainly hope Muc-Off is paying you for this! Great advice about helmet maintenance!
Alas no they are not Steve, but it would be nice! running this channel costs a small fortune!
Very useful video! Thank you very much!
I really enjoy your videos, informative, interesting and comical, many thanks. Stuart
Thanks Stu, I aim to please!
great video mate. very easy to grip the basics but thourough ! thanks a bunch!
Fantastic Stuart! Thank you!
Your welcome Steve, thanks for watching!
Another good video Stuart well done.
Thank you Kevin!
Great advice again Stuart, I was particularly interested in how you clean the pin lock visor, I shall be trying that one.
Hi Marc, believe me it works wonders!
For new riders, we talk about this during CBT. How many take any notice is altogether another matter.
I'd agree about OCD, but in a good way. I've always cleaned exterior and visor/pinloc. I will now attempt internal cleaning based on what I have just watched. Thanks :^)
Thanks much, this is very useful information.
Your very welcome Greg, Thank you for watching!
Again good vid stuart its all common sense but busy lives one tends to forget until you find you've got a very dirty helmet and it becomes a challenge to get it clean
Thanks Anthony, yes, I always think it best to keep on top of things, to stop them getting too bad, even if you just give it the once over weekly, it can go a long way to preserving your investment. insect guts can be very acidic! and I noticed on my mates helmet that they had been left long enough to actually etch the shell of the helmet which could be a future safety issue!
Excellent advice. Thank you.
Your welcome sir!
your welcome sir!
Useful vid,my helmet cleaning is a damp kitchen towel over the visor before going out, very seldom clean the worst of the bugs off the shell.I must now go and stand in the naughty corner :(
Another superb, useful, informative and detailed video. Thanks for sharing your gems of information Stuart. I have to say I thoroughly enjoy your channel and really appreciate the hard work you put into everything you do and share my friend. Keep up the excellent detail you provide... it's thoroughly entertaining. BTW was that Willingham woods Biker's Cafe at the beginning?
Hi Mark thanks for watching and for your comment! yes it was Willingham woods! I take it your familiar with the place?
Been there a few times.... I do like the area and it's a lovely ride from Spalding with some enjoyable sections on the bike. May see you there in the future and we'll share a coffee and a chinwag.
An absolute brilliant video Stuart. It is something I for one completely over look now I no longer race off-road. I don't know if it's because I have three road helmets ( just trying to find one that feels and fits right along with conflicting advice) I clean my visors as a matter of course but I don't think I've ever cleaned the inside of any of them but I have removed the linings to put in intercoms. This has made me see the error of my ways as I've often sniffed before placing on my head 🤔
Thanks Peter, I'm glad you found this useful, Thanks for watching!
Thanks for the info, quite a lot there I can put into practice. One question, I assume putting anti-fog on the inside of your goggles was just for demonstration? If you are not breathing into them do they still fog up? I genuinely do not know as I have yet to go down the vintage bike gear road.
Another good vid on a subject that I am utterly hopeless at !!!! However, picking up new bike tomoz so can't think straight !!!!!
New bike! well! come on! what is it! you cant just leave it at that!
There is always something to learn - follicly challenged... Yes I can see that development...
LOL nice to hear from you Mr Dark!
Great video. One on apparel would be good. I own a Triumph Expedition High Viz and have no clue on what to use to clean it. I am getting all sorts of answers either baby shampoo, dish detergent and gor tex cleaner, but nothing definitive as the best product to use. Your years of experience with motorcycle gear would be a great help. I will send photos of rust on bike soon, been very busy at work.
Hi Walt, Nikwax tech wash, and Nickwax wash in reproofer! I swear by them for cleaning and reproofing textile bike clothing. I think Graingers also make a similar range!
Hope you charged him for cleaning
Great video thanks Stuart
Cool, no need to buy a new pinlock... 👍, I got here while looking at these new helmet Visor Wipers ( noticed 1 on Banggood, for around £20.00, but noticed how they apply device to visor, personally I think it breach visors seal, maybe a permanant attachment on helmet then a removable part for those not rainy days,"...maybe a idea 💡 for your next video 📹, just a thought... 👍
away to wash now...😉
I feel bad as I’ve not wash the liner in my skid lid for ‘a long time’ 😱. Thanks for the video.
lol Mucky bugger!
stuart fillingham On a different note I’m upgrading the Fuzeblock to a PDM60 today. I’ll also give the crash helmet a full fillingham too 👍🏻
PDM60? glad to see the video has pricked your conscience Dervman. They do feel far more comfortable after a good clean though!
stuart fillingham It’s a modern day fuse box. Fully electronic so no mechanical fuses and has features like delay startup and shutdown. Neat bit of kit if you have too many electrical accessories 🤓
Who doesn't at least wipe the bugs off at the end of the ride? You seem to associate with some dirty buggers. :)) Good tips though, as always, thanks.
well if he isn't riding with me he doesn't have access to my cleaning kit! I thought it was odd that he volunteered to supply his helmet for the video!
I always keep my helmet clean 😄
Hmmm not sure how to take that Martin!
