    I love it, and I have been using Samsung until now. Since I am not a gamer, but use typical smartphone functions, it is a great buy and offers what I need in a new phone. As a photographer, the dual camera, to me, is great. Since here in HK, where I live, all Google features are available, updating my Samsung Note 3 was completely painless. Since contacts, gmail and photos were already stored by Google, changing the phone was a piece of cake. Photos are really sharp and videos are good as well. For the low low price (HK$ 1,799) what have you got to lose. Just came back from 10 days in China, and except Gmail and most other Google features didn't work, it remained trouble free.

    • @samsays
      @samsays Před 6 lety

      Yes, it is made in China but the main market to now has been India. Xiaomi does not include a user manual, but you can loads of information from CZcams from its users in India. They just offered in in HK early September and I think it will be later offered in the US.

    • @axhng
      @axhng  Před 6 lety +2

      Totally agree with this. For the price it's great value to me. The stock android experience will keep the phone running relatively smooth for a long time to come too!! thanks for sharing your experience with the phone!!!

      +tripmehard when I was using it the wifi wasn't that strong but it didn't posed any issue to me in day to day use though. But I don't have the phone already so can't really test it out much. maybe better to check with the local forums in HWZ. There is a forum dedicated for the Mi A1.

    Just wondering does the noise cancelling microphone get activated during video recording (causing audio distortion or smth)? I think this was a problem with some Xiaomi phones...

    • @axhng
      @axhng  Před 6 lety

      Hmm. I checked the footage I had and it sounds like the ambient noise was a little choppy.

    • @randomdrifter
      @randomdrifter Před 6 lety +1

      There's very aggressive noise cancellation that causes a lot of artefacting with the sound, particularly prominent when you try to record the screen with sound recording being recorded from the phone's own mic
      So far, the only Xiaomi phone that I've tested where the noise cancellation isn't that aggressive is the Mi Max 1 - it's sequel, the Mi Max 2 is a very bad offender when it comes to sound recording (it's my daily driver)

    Main goal for having 2 cameras is not the optical zoom feature but to take portrait photography.if you take portrait mode in daylight at outside with good lightening it would take really impressive photo just as good as DSLR camera. At first pretty disappointed when i know that this phone doesn't support fast charging but i recently realize that this phone surprisingly have really good battery life,with only 3080 it could run all day more than 26 hours without charging with screen on time around 5-6 hours,smartphone with the best battery life i ever used!also never facing performance and overheating issues.maybe that's why this phone doesn't need fast charging since the battery life with one single charge from 0 to 100% takes around 2 hours charging will give you enough power all day!

    • @axhng
      @axhng  Před 6 lety +1

      Not really actually. it gets a bit warmer like pretty much every phone does, but other than that in normal use or playing simple games, it's not a problem. :)

    • @siddharth825
      @siddharth825 Před 6 lety

      Alex Hong well my last device was from Samsung it has 2GB ram only and also other apps running in background but that device don't get heat up. In A1 right now I'm using it from 12 days it gets to 40C while I play same game I used to play on my Samsung device.

    • @axhng
      @axhng  Před 6 lety

      maybe it feels warmer because it's a metal body? Like when i compare it to the Google Pixel, the Mi A1 doesn't get as warm as easily.

    heyy @alex_hong ive read people complaining bout dead pixels after heavy usage...is it true...? is this device made from cheap hardware materials...?

    • @axhng
      @axhng  Před 6 lety +2

      O.O I haven't encounter that actually. Since the device is still so new, I think it's probably of manufacture defect rather than heavy usage. I didn't have any issue with my unit, and most of my other Xiaomi devices are okay though. The phone definitely doesn't feel cheap though. Not as high end as like Galaxy S8, but better than you would think for its price.

      That's a touch choice. I think Nokia 6 will have faster updates, and better build quality. But Mi A1 is probably the safer bet even though the software update might be a bit slower. Nokia's camera app isn't good. Also it would depend on the price i guess.

      Hahaha. Hey! Those two would be pretty close. The Mi A1 would probably have better software support, but the G5 Plus has better camera I think. I also like the smaller size, but build quality wise, Mi A1 is much better. But the G5 Plus is a little more expensive and I would go for the local G5 Plus just for the NFC support though. But if NFC isn't an issue, i would go Mi A1 though, just for the software updates

      Alex Hong dude, are they official in singapore or just an export set???

    • @axhng
      @axhng  Před 6 lety

      Hey there! That's a pretty good price. I got mine at a higher price. haha. It's hard to say since they haven't started selling them yet. But you should be able to just get accessories for the Mi 5X as well.

      @axhng  Před 6 lety

    Agreed on the buttons - they need to go away altogether. The only thing they do, is make the phone look cheap.
    Eh, still consider it to be a good replacement for my iPhone 5S.

    • @axhng
      @axhng  Před 6 lety +2

      Yeah. Pity they decided not to take the effort to at least change the button design. :/

    • @kevanliasta9341
      @kevanliasta9341 Před 6 lety +2

      I think they made it their button so the world know it's from xiaomi

    • @axhng
      @axhng  Před 6 lety +3

      haha. maybe. To me i think they did that just because they didn't change the hardware at all, so they can just reuse Mi 5X parts and cut cost. haha

    Mi a1or mi max 2?

    • @axhng
      @axhng  Před 6 lety +1

      Jeremy Ye if you don't mind miui, and using the phone more for multimedia content, I would say the mi max 2. The big battery, screen, better speakers, will make it more enjoyable. If you prefer faster and cleaner software, or you don't want a huge phone, then the Mi A1 would be the way to go. :)

    • @aeroean2810
      @aeroean2810 Před 6 lety

      Alex Hong MIUI is bad or still acceptable? Cause now I’m using iPhone X. Saw mi a1 review quite good. That’s why thinking which one to go for

    • @axhng
      @axhng  Před 6 lety

      Jeremy Ye MIUI 9 is not that bad in terms of usage and performance actually. There are still some bloat, and some apps that can't be disabled, but it's bearable still. But of course stock Android will still be my preferred choice. If you're getting it as a secondary phone, hard to go wrong with either. 😅

    • @aeroean2810
      @aeroean2810 Před 6 lety

      Alex Hong ya man I still don’t know which one to choose for hahaha. I like the size of mi max 2 but I also like the pure android one UI haha

    • @axhng
      @axhng  Před 6 lety

      Jeremy Ye hahaha. Then you have to decide what is more important to you already. For me I'll probably still stick with stock Android experience.

    • @axhng
      @axhng  Před 6 lety +1

      At the time when I posted the video the official price wasn't out for Singapore yet. Mine is an export unit, so the price is different. Also different country has different prices too. haha. But anyway, the official price of the phone is SGD$349, around US$255 as of this comment. :)

    • @budakcina1446
      @budakcina1446 Před 6 lety +1

      Alex Hong wow the price of the Mi A1 is suprisingly cheap and it's still a great device I must say. By the way thanks for telling me, the videos is great, I love it.

    • @axhng
      @axhng  Před 6 lety

      well, even the redmi note 4 has better batter life than the Mi A1 already, so if that's your priority I think it's better to wait. Mi A1's battery life is pretty average. :)
