Now the gun that the universe pointed at his head is in his hands, as it always was. The crux of his pessimism -- the death-nature of existence -- became the fulcrum point for his joy. And so, he becomes an exterminator, taking control, "Bliblie control!"

Something I didn't notice at first: the bliblie that Desmond shoots wasn't running at him, it was running at Charlie. Despite them failing to make him smile, and not even seeing a point in living, Desmond stepped in front of Charlie and shot the bliblie to protect him.
I had a theory that, Pim is holding a facade. He is very hard working for smiling friends and he seems to try to get along with others like his co-workers and his surroundings like acting sweet towards Jennifer and desmond. I think Pim wants to be happy too. He is sensitive to situations that brings him down like arguments, fights, pessimistic speeches and his enjoyment being taken away like mip constantly brought Pim down and made Charlie enjoying the enchanted Forrest.

It's possible that because he grew up around conflict and a lack of love (at least seemingly from everyone but his dad), he tries to avoid any kind of negative thought. He verbally and physically shows that he is thankful and appreciative of everything and everyone (thus his habit of kissing?), because he probably wouldn't want anyone to feel unappreciated. I don't think that his optimistic nature is a facade though, but maybe rather more of a defense mechanism.

I mean his grandpa was shot by a robber, his grandma was poisoned by peanuts, his uncle drove his car into a crowd of people I think? And we don't know much about his parents yet. Or maybe he just isn't very expressive in the first place and can distance himself well from stuff like that, so it doesn't affect him as much. This was a fantastic first episode and really set the impression for how the rest of the show will be.
I saw the clip of Desmond saying “hello” in another video, and instantly recognized that was Mike Stoklasas voice. He’s done some pretty good voice acting before, the smith in Tigtone being my favorite. Interesting to see so much online shit in a show on tv.
