I would
@@moth450 What are you going to do when they go bankrupt and there are no updates, no warranty or non warranty service and no market for the car?
Def not.
It's a great deal with that type of range and some cool features. I would
@@monsterpatbro1041 Did you actually watch the video? Endless problems that when they go BK will never be fixed, no warranty, no service, no parts. It's already down to $21k and most people won't be able sell them if they want to. It's like in the old days you bought a used MB for $5,000 only to find it needed $25k of immediate repairs. At least you could repair the Mercedes. As the saying goes, a fool and his money are soon separated.
Nice to know that with the update the key fob is now up to 1998 levels of technology
To be fair, if you are correct, I'd rather have 1998 keyfob tech as all the newer high end cars with keyless entry and keyless start are the ones getting stolen most often right now. In under 30 seconds to quote a movie tagline.
@@MaverickMackenzie8888 Havent heard of Genesis G80s getting stolen often, or Mercedes for that matter of which we own both. Its the low end Kia/Hyundais without the code keys
@@shckltnebay Here it's Lexus, Rover, BMW Mercedes all the high end cars. Ever heard of remote relaying? Can't do it on my old remotes that don't send a signal unless you push a button. Your keyless remotes send a low power signal always on. That's the problem.
@@MaverickMackenzie8888 unfortunately all these carmakers think the future means these type of keys. I mean if that was the worst thing about the ocean there wouldn't be too much complain about
I had an order in for a Fisker Ocean and a reservation for a Fisker PEAR. Last fall I canceled both. But I still wanted a small SUV EV, and after extensive research, I decided on either the Kia Niro EV or Hyundai Kona EV. Hyundai sweetened the deal with a $7,500 discount good for the Kona, and I purchased one in February. I'm very happy with the purchase, and have the satisfaction knowing it is from a financially sound company with a strong dealer and service network.
Congratulations on your Kona! Is it a 23' or 24'?
Fisker has now tested (twice) the notion that vehicles are becoming so commodified that design could be the primary differentiator. This example is actually produced on contract by Magna if I'm not mistaken. But the reviews demonstrate that automaking is still complex enough that success requires more than just great design and a bunch of Tier One suppliers doing your engineering.
Also funding is hard... which most of these issues seem to be fixable if they had time... They uh didn't and don't unlike the big automakers who do and can get away with beta testing their unknowing consumers.
In this case they'd probably have been fine, had they just not gone for a "software defined vehicle"
People still buy Hyundai and Kia's even though they have engines with defects that failed completely among other safety problems. People complain endlessly about GM, Ford and Chrysler but keep buying. BMW use cheap plastic in their engines that can't take years of heat and are ridiculously expensive to replace said parts as they fall apart when mechanics have to take them apart for repairs. Nissans have issues. The Chinese cars are coming even though Chinese consumers themselves have complained about their low quality for years. In some cases people will still buy them because they are cheap, have panache, or in some cases really good marketing. Are any of them really any better, no, not really.
I’d buy this still love the design and company
Edmunds review is the best, most honest
Most annoying and immature. I couldn't finish this due to the editing tastes of a pre-teen.
BTW in newer keyless cars the car going into park when it thinks you got out of the seat is a fantastic safety feature. There are documented cases of people jumping out of keyless cars with it still in drive and running the outcome of which is someone being killed. Also leaning over to pick something up, you should put it into park as it is very easy for a car to roll forward or back while you are leaning over and have your foot off the brake with vehicle in drive or reverse. Might seem trivial but that pedestrian you just rolled into might not agree.
Thanks for sharing
Headline: Edmunds takes a bath in an Ocean
I have no pity for new EV buyers. All the information is out there and they still bought it. Thank you all beta testers
Lol, CyberTruck just got recalled for one major safety issue. Let's be honest, no automaker today is releasing a foolproof product. More bells and whistles the more things go wrong.
Americans need to look up “cherry-picking” and “false analogy”.
Stop giving BS excuses for someone who want to convince you to pay tens of thousands of dollars for their product. If it is buggy, walk away. Worse reliabilities will result in worse resale value.
Not a fan of Tesla but you’re missing the point. This is an example of a piss poor effort of a car by a garbage company that was suppose to rival Tesla years ago
These bad boys get to 10k I'm buying it

Agreed, I am rooting for Fisker. However, if they don't make it, they should make the software available as open source and give it to the community and it will soon be the coolest vehicle out there!
I don't know why I'm reminded of Edmund Honda, every time I see a video of his.
Thoughts and prayers to Fisker owners.
I am also doing nothing
This is why I only buy used cars. Some people ignore depreciation, thinking they'll drive the car for years. All it takes a wreck or a natural disaster for that car to get totaled. Then you absorb the depreciation all at once. Learned that when my brand-new car got flooded after one year of ownership 24 years ago. Haven't bought new since. And especially with EVs, you get sweet deals by waiting. A two-year old Polestar 2 can be had for well under 30K. I bought an I-Pace for 38,000. It was 85,000 new.
I bought my I-Pace three weeks ago for €19.000 :).
@@Achillias How are the Ipace's holding up now? What seem to be the main issues to look for?

My Golf does the parking brake thing too. Sometimes it still surprises me, but overall it's good I guess.
Mine too but I have to pull that little lever with the button on it. :) Good point about the Golf.
I have a Fisker Ocean Extreme and I love it. It has some minor issues (which everyone is aware of by now) but key fob responsiveness is the only one that’s annoying for me. However, it’s not a deal breaker and I still enjoy driving it around. I just hope the company survives so they can make improvements and continue to service their cars. Yes, I know it’s not looking good right now but we need more alternatives to Tesla.
No adaptive cruise, no Carplay, no Homelink, Ventilated seats.
We don't believe you love this vehicle
Haha, understandable. Everyone only talks about the deficiencies but this car still goes 0 to 60 in 3.6 seconds, has 360 miles of range and looks better than any Tesla. Do I really care if it has CarPlay or ventilated seats?

So I had to write a comment just to say, I am going to watch your video again as I was too busy typing to catch everything. I liked that you were open, honest and pointed out other EV's have teething problems. The big T brought out cars that were poorly built had lots of build issues, then software issues, then lots of promises that are still not here, and those promises were a few years ago already. Yes they get praise after praise, huh?
Fisker is fixing issues very quickly it appears and if you put this in perspective. No one is complaining about build quality that I have heard. You basically got a BMW with crappy software, wait, is BMW software any better?, lol. But that can and is being fixed very quickly in fact. I remember buying a brand new Pontiac in 1986 and it went back to the dealer 12 times in the first 3 months to fix an electronic fault it had been delivered to us with. So when folks complain about this and that, what experience are they comparing to? Sorry didn't' mean to start a thread about GM or even GM EV's. Lol.
The big T?

TESLA rapidly Innovates, unlike any other OEM.
Fisker doesn't even make the OCEAN, Magna does .
Fisker doesn't even have any IP .
Fisker cannot Innovate , because it does not make the Product.
I visited Fisker back in January to test drive the Ocean. Sure enough, they didn't have one available the day I stopped in and I had to come back a week later to drive it. The car drove fine but there were a few issues I had with the car. No ventilated seats. No message seats. No autonomous driving...
Nothing deal breaking, but I was only there to drive it - I wasn't interested in buying one.
Sure enough, they entered a downward spiral soon thereafter and now their cars are on fire sale.
At what point is it good for a full gutting & manual LS Camaro driveline swap? $8k?
Fisker will be Push Like Game Stop... And goooo💯🌝
The hill hold complaint sounds like a super first world issue lol😂. I mean I understand it's to be expected with the competition with other EVs, but hearing it did make me go "mmm....o-kay". Same with the parking break being turned on when leaving the seat, but I understand that it'll be cool if it detects your weight and eyes on the road you can just go. There's still gonna be ICE cars available for awhile , so I hope this type of stuff doesn't create bad safety driving practices.
Imo new and current car manufacturers have looked at Tesla and thought what can we copy and what can we change/make better (worse). Like not having 1 pedal driving?
Loving my Ocean every day! I look forward to driving it after work daily.
How do you plan to service it in the future? You do realize that will become more challenging in coming year or two

No matter what Fisker does to improve the cars they will never be able to sell them in any significant quantities in the future. This car is just ruined whether it deserves it or not.
They need to fix their software, apparently they are facing hard times, no doubt about it..... cash is what they need in order to fix their problems...
Software fixes are going to fix a bad first impression to the masses and awful chief executive
you are wrong
If they fix the software/get the funding necessary to keep fixing the software, then the car could get interesting again. With enough press coverage people could buy this car perhaps... as in, when the car is tested again with good software. But I think people will be scared to buy it as long as the software isn't ready.
It deserves it. Fisker is a prick

Tesla had lots of problems when it launched its first car. Fisker does not have a rabid fan base like Teala, that is anxious to forgive and defend all issues or problems. And Tesla's still do not have F.S.D.
Exactly! Well said.
Yeah but Tesla will be around beyond next week. Bankruptcy any day now for Fisker. Feel sorry for all the people who will be left with a lemon.
And Total vehicle recall on Cyber truck with gas pedal getting stuck in acceleration position...very dangerous. Less than 4,000 sold.
Whataboutism isn't really going to help Fisker's image the way you think. LOL
This is why I went with a Mach-E. I'd rather have a car company go techy than have a tech company try to build a car. I just hope the solar roof winds up on other manufacturer's cars as that'd be a neat feature when you can't park for charging consistently.
That happens when a Rasberri PI is the operating system! 😅😂

I remember playing Minecraft in Alpha it wasnt even close to being completed but now its one of the biggest games out there.
I get that a game is not a car but in the end it still comes down to optimization of software.
optimization of software that might not even happen given the state of the company. Minecraft is 15 years old. I don't even think fisker will be around in a year
I disagree that this level of depreciation was not foreseeable. More than three months ago the financial state of Fisker was very obvious
Besides the key issue, i failed to see any major issues, what am i missing. I can think of several major brands thinking 'hold my beer'.... It still unacceptable to charge fees for features that aren't there. I wonder what the reception would had been if they just sold it without the assistive driving crap and similar add-ons. Starting simple wasn't an option i guess. Teslas shouldn't be the benchmark.

It’s a nice car
I would guess that negotiations are currently ongoing with one or more potential buyers with deep pockets who can give Fisker the time it needs to get the Ocean market ready. It’s a nice looking, well built car that could be viable if its software and distribution issues can be solved, but all the bad publicity will certainly make that a lot harder.
Given the current macro-economic conditions of the entire EV market, who would want to purchase Fisker and its tarnished brand? More importantly, what exactly are you purchasing since Fisker manufactures nothing.
I could see Magna potentially at least talking about it. The 3 amigos aren't doing much better with their EV's and they all know it's a game they can't avoid playing. I think what people miss is that EV's are still big in Europe, China and big potential in India. Did I cover 3/5's of the world? It's not if, it's when. I'd like to see more hydrogen solutions too, but that's me. Musk disagrees.
Fisker in 2024: We are bringing a huge major update to the 2.0 version. You press the key fob ONCE (sometimes TWICE) to unlock your car.
Daym Henrik.
I’m just trying to figure out how this guy (Henrik Fisker) has now applied his name to 2 separate electric vehicle endeavors, taken hundreds of millions of dollars from the US government, failed massively at least once (and astoundingly is on his way to another failure in such a short time), and has gotten away with it…
If the company goes under will the car lose features? So much of this car is OTA features
They make great Golf Carts
They should have done more quality control testing before selling their vehicles to the public. If they were more reliable from the start, they would have a lot more people wanting to buy. No one wants to buy a new vehicle that has a bunch of known problems and if they have reputation for bad customer service that spells disaster for the company.

An EV dealer is selling new Oceans for less than a 4yr old I-pace, e-tron SUV and Model Ys. It tells you something
They spent so much time making it sound and look special that they completely dropped the ball on its basics. Worry about getting the basics down and THEN worry about features and gee-whiz stuff.
Sorry, to be clear, are you talking about Tesla? 🤣
$21k is a little ridiculous, 2012 karmas are going for more than that and they've been unsupported for 12 years
And there are videos of guys saying they can repair them and their customers still drive and love them. Hmmm, what does that tell you. Enjoy driving a Karma, or drive a Corolla with piece of mind you can always fix it easily and will hold it's value. I considered buying one, or even the newer Karma. My wife vetoed me when she saw the price of a new one, lol
Key fob performance (4:07). Haha, sad and funny at the same time when even basic features of a car don't work properly.
Firstly why was this car allowed to go on sale if half of the car didn't work, second who in their right mind would have put money down for a vehicle that is half busted, Fiskar should be made to purchase all the vehicles back at full price from the public who bought them, this will teach any further companies a lesson that try to do the same thing.
It seems if they just focused on a basic commuter car first they wouldnt have all these problems.
Most of the issues seem to be all the tech and luxury aspects.
True but even Tesla abandoned the commuter car idea just recently. As for the tech, well when it comes to EV's just seems to be what people want. I hate the tire pressure warning light is always on. I don't need that feature so I'm not paying $150 to fix 1 tire sensor! I know how to check my tire pressures. When I took driver training they told you to walk around the car and look at the tires. I still have a 1990 manual shift classic in my driveway. I'm not worried about anyone stealing it. They probably wouldn't know how to start it, or for that matter drive it! Then again a tow truck could come in, scoop it and drive away, phew it's insured.
Or a simple lamericain luxury car as I've heard nonone complain about the inteor or exterior just well the softwear which your right they don't even need.

BTW people who need hill hold have never driven a manual shift car. Not to mention many automatics will roll back if the hill is steep enough. Lazy. ;) Yes I know it's nice feature that probably all new cars should have. Just don't jump in an old car, you will die! My 90 Z doesn't even have airbags. The hill hold is a lever just behind the shifter. Some people call it a parking brake, and have no idea how to use it, either to park, or on a hill! Good demo of the feature though my friend. I like you reviewing style BTW. It's honest, straight up and clear.
If your pedals are close enough together, you don't even need to use the parking brake to hold on a hill. In my daily driver 79 Subaru DL, I can turn my foot sideways to have one half on the brake and one half on the throttle. Then release the brake and press the throttle while releasing the clutch. But the pedals in that car are right next to each other, less than 3 inches apart.
I've been watching these vids and seeing people saying they're actively trying to get one (unsuccessfully) because of the reduced prices. And I'm thinking this is seriously nuts. Which EV's are not start ups? It's new technology whoever is selling it.

I own it and have none of these issues.
If it has no problems and Fisker goes out of business, you're screwed. No market value, no one is going to insure it since it won't be repairable, and you can be certain that issues will arise and there would be no warranty, no parts, no service mechanism.
You definitely could have foreseen this. I don’t know why anyone would buy a vehicle from a startup, with no proven business model, and a leader with track record of failed car companies, that is that objectively bad upon delivery. If a company releases a bad product, that can be “fixed with software,” it means they are pretty desperate for the income from that product. Otherwise, why would you treat your customers like beta testers? That’s a terrible user experience that is not going to give your users the warm and fuzzies about your brand.
Sounds like, Tesla, Ford, GM, Stellantis (previously known as Chrysler) etc.
That's pretty much the formula for every company these days.
BTW GM has failed, Chrysler, more than once, some Ford. etc. etc. Failure in itself doesn't mean anything. Most good entrepreneurs fail before they find success.
If you are referring to the first iteration of Fisker, it was a huge part due to bad luck. It was risky and new technology as it was. Tesla came very close to failing. Apple would have gone under if not for Microsoft giving them a lifeline. Fisker 1st iteration mainly failed because of 2 things. 1) The battery manufacturer made a bad product and failed as well. There weren't too many to choose from. And secondly, a huge number of new cars were destroyed off the coast of New Jersey during a Hurricane. A startup has all it's eggs in one basket. Something bad happens they lose. Big companies have 10's or 100's or more simultaneous projects going on. Some fail, some win, some ok. If balance is in their favour they do well. Even GE and IBM have struggled at times. A couple of the most respected US conglomerates in history. It easy to look back with 20/20 and say they should have seen that coming.
Fisker is built by Magna, it also builds G-Wagons and Z4. So the hardware quality is there. Software is a huge problem. But it's fixable. Toyota and Subaru EV's had issues with wheels falling off. And those are not startups.
Fisker will survive
Do you wake up guys ? Don’t loose your time with such videos. Fisker will be saved at your next video 😂
When you buy a kickstarter/startup car.... I wouldn't touch a Fisker, Karma, Rivian, Lucid etc, I'll stick with established brands.
But Tesla was a startup and then they kicked ass in the industry. Seems like most of the ones after them couldn't figure it all out.
When you buy an EV*
Fisker's customer support center in India told me they can't call me back. I thought to myself, if they're not capable of calling back their customers, even in sales phase, I don't want to have to do anything with company.
Such a beautiful Car and so much potential.. shame that software killed it :(
Software can be fixed and updated over the air while it's charging. Not so bad.
I think Fisker's travails could permanently end the sort of irrational exuberance we're seeing with EV startups. Who is going to want to gamble on an unestablished brand, when your investment could go to zero within month? Next up, Lucid.
Lucid is an interesting case as they have an excellent product but it's so damn expensive. Believe it or not that's not even my biggest gripe with them. If they wanna be a luxury marque fine but they're paying their CEO waaaaaaaaaaaaay too much money for the amount of cars there selling and for how much money they're making. Which is in the negative billions
The thing with lucid is that they have billions in assets, hundreds of patents and big financial backers. Paying the CEO that much, yah that's silly. But they're finding better pricing for th lucid air and it seems to have a positive effect. That's the issue with asset light in Fisker and where they're selling point was design. There's not much valuable IP from a design focused car
If only this would end EVs altogether
@@disqjunky Actually, two selling points: design and build quality by Magna Steyr. The same Magna that builds G-Wagons and Z4's. The issues are software and management. Changing the management will help with fixing software. Hope Ch. 11 will make it happend.

Option 1: Pay someone to steal it. Option 2: Drive it off a cliff and claim the insurance value. Option 3: Pay someone $20k to take it off your hands so they can drive it off a cliff or pay someone to steal it.

Fisker is a pump and dump company for the founders.
I hope FISKER survives
Survives, again? Lol nah.
They're a dumpster fire and I'm an EV owner & enthusiast.
They willl Tesla fan boy.....believe me they will.
@@Pinkfloyd86They were losing money on each vehicle sold before the 33% discounts.
They aren’t surviving past summer.
That's just a drop in the ocean.
It might to be better to stop making the payments!!!
I'd buy a Ocean even if just to look good in my driveway. Just today a few teens walked by my house and one pointed out 2 of my cars (there are 4) in my driveway to his friends. I could see and hear them from my office window. I was actually impressed a 12 year old knew exactly what model my Yellow 90' 2 seater was. Lol. 😜
I will never buy a Fisker vehicle. My boss has one and left stranded at the airport with the battery losing all its power after being gone for a week on vacation. Needed a Fisker tech to come over since when hooking up to power it wouldn’t charge.
That's been fixed. And by the way every airport parking lot has boosters available as so many cars left their won't start. Lol.
@@MaverickMackenzie8888again, quit being a simp and seek employment
LOL!!!!
I'll give you 5k for it as it is!
holy crap HAHAHAH i'm sorry but that's insane funny. might as well burn the money
😢😢😢😢😢
I’m so sorry! Someone give fisker a cash injection. This is a great car and Tesla not having any real competition in Europe and us Canada yet will create future price gauging
Risky purchase from the outset. Because of the car itself, with its incomplete software suite but also the competition within the EV sector.
other than a complete waste of time, it does fill in some time.
