There’s a fisker dealer near San Diego that seems quite literally abandoned. I visited at noon on a Saturday, and the entire lot was covered in dust. The only person on the property was a security guard who could tell me that nobody was there 😭

Its actually a rebranded BMW dealership.

As far as the buying and shipping process, its easy to understand how overwhelming it would be for the base employees after a 50% cut in price. The CEOs dont care about a few weeks of rush for them.
Im a good friend of someone in upper management there. The price slash, wasn't to make money so that they can survive. Its ONLY to get rid of the units they have built, or parts. They don't want to be stuck with anything.

Thank you for taking the time to inform viewers of shady practices.
I'm sure there's a Fisker insider somewhere that would be willing to spill the beans.
There will be plenty in a month once they file bankruptcy and the non disclosure papers are not even worthy to be toilet roll, a company breaching its contract by not paying its staff nor existing isnt capable of enforcing non disclosure so then there will be hundreds willing to speak.. Austin could probably even get the same guy who sold it to him to come on follow up
I'm pretty sure there will be a book or two.
Just wait until the company goes bankrupt and the NDAs are null and void.
I was excited to hear about a $25,000 small electric SUV, but when I realized that the Ultra and the Extreme were so closely priced after the discounts, I knew they didn't have any of the Sports. Why would you price the Sport at $10,000 under the mid-tier? The only explanation is for marketing. They knew there were no Sport models available, so they priced it at a point that seemed low enough for consumers who are unsure of electric cars still, but high enough that it didn't sound like a complete, outright lie.
There are far better cheap options now arriving certainly now arriving in Europe at least the new Citroen 3c3 is supposed to be about 25,000 euros not as plush as the Fisker but at least it'll work and you'll geta warranty. The new Fiat 600 La Prima starts at £26,000and the 500 at £28,000.
@@norfolkngood8960 I will agree that in other markets, more options are available, but not all are necessarily better options. The Citroen 3c3 scored 0 stars safety rating by the NCAP. At the time of this comment, I believe the Fisker Ocean and the Fiat 600 are untested.
However, in the US market, we don't have a ton of reliable, long range options. The cheapest new electric vehicle currently is the Nissan Leaf, which still runs $29,000 with a range of 149 miles. If you live rural and drive to work every day, you can easily out range 149 miles a day, especially considering electric cars are less efficient at highway speeds. Between the lack of a good charging network and battery degradation on lower range electric cars, many Americans want higher ranges.
Ultimately though, opting for something over over 200 miles means the cheapest option starts at $36,000. Given everything going on right now, many Americans just can't afford to pay that kind of money for a car, so we stick with ICE vehicles, which is disappointing, but what can you do. Hybrids exist, but companies keep putting CVT transmissions into them without fixing the issues that are leaving many owners in rentals for months at a time (unfortunately that comes from experience).
There is a dealer I visit every so often because they sell a lot of high end cars, but they also get these completely random cars sometimes. They had both the Cybertruck and a Fisker Ocean at the same time. To be honest, the Fisker in person does look pretty clean. But based off of all the reviews and drama, it seems that’s probably the only redeemable thing. I did think the video of one of the higher ups trying to contact Marques was pretty funny.
That's because Henrik is a great designer . But a great businessman he is not.
I agree, I think design looks amazing. I own a Model Y and I would rather have the design look of an ocean. But the Software of a Tesla
@@SuperSxeMatt see if we can come up with this why can't they... They should try and court each other and legally everybody will be happy. Elon will get properly designed beautiful cars and so will we and Henrik will get paid with no rush of running the company into the ground
@@JamaicanMeCrazy I think Tesla's look great, im a little different and not a super fan of the new refresh model 3. But I think the Ocean appeals to people however there's a lot of small issues which leads to big issues with the car. I think the company is being ran terrible and will hopefully be bought out by someone.
This is yet another reason why I refuse to buy in to anything as an early adopter or in early access...
As someone who regularly pays the early adopter tax, this is egregious. I bought the framework 13 AMD edition on launch. It was a mess but it was a functional product, and I was actually able to buy one. I purchased first gen AMD ryzen on launch. It was a buggy mess and it needed a lot of improvement, but I could buy one. I have uaed Radeon GPUs in servers and now in my gaming PC for a while now. They're buggy messes, but I can at least buy them. With fisker, you can't even fucking buy their product. Like, originally it was just a buggy mess and it needed improvement but now you can't even get a damn car.
Fisker failed once. Really there was nothing to show that Henrik Fisker did much differently. The details matter and one should always do their homework when being an early adopter. I often do use early products...but I usually do enough research that I go into it eyes wide open.
EVs are not early products now. But Fisker Ocean was a gamble from a company that had too many vendors to pay with too much of a margin of failure. Rivian and Lucid had more than enough runway where they could withstand early issues and early low numbers. Fisker from the beginning didn't have enough and was very clear they didn't have enough from the start. You don't take the gamble yourself if you have limited funds on a large purchase like this.
Broad rules are usually stupid....an informed adaptable mindset is usually best
You can be an early adopter/access to something like a video game or something not so major/serious if you feel strongly about it but early access/adopter of a car is insane considering safety not only to you but other people on the road. The problem with this company is you can't release cars like this on an alpha build 💀
The donut shirt in this episode is chef's kiss
Fisker cooking some books
A ton of early Fisker employees bought Ocean Ones…. Imagine giving the company you work for $70k, then the vehicle depreciates to half its value, then they lay you off…..
😂 😂 😂 Then depreciates even more
How ironic that a CAR company struggled selling a CAR. Like what are they doing?
That’s all electric vehicles. The fad is coming to an end and people are realizing ev’s are stupid, the future is not electric even tesla is suffering.

Thank you for making a video like this. I have known about the issues with Fisker for a while now.
Hopefully if Fisker will do the right thing and open source the car software so people in the community can attempt to fix it. But I doubt that they will and a ton of people will be stuck with perfectly good cars with broken software that will never be fixed. Most of which will end up in a landfill once the owners get tired of dealing with all of the software issues. When a company goes bankrupt it should be required by law that the source code for the software used in that product to be open sourced so that the community can continue support if they want.
I cant wait for the price to go down below 15k
will never happen.
@@user-nw1wc1jo4loh it will secondhand when you take depreciation into the equation
What would it matter since they don't even have one to sell anyway?
@@user-nw1wc1jo4lFisker Karma MSRP was around $100,000. The average price for a used one is around $32,000. That’s nearly 70% devalued of its original price. The fisker ocean already devalued around 40% of its original price tag (for the spec Austin was shopping for). You can expect it to be as low as that price in a couple years because there would be no demand for consumers since other automakers provide better EVs for a better value.
@@user-nw1wc1jo4l In Sweden there is an Extreme version (with 5.000 miles) listed at USD17' (excl. VAT) on a dealer auction this tuesday. I am pretty sure no one will make a bid. So below 15k is not very far away.
Now you got me thinking to check out my local Dealership here in Vista Ca. They moved into abuilding that BMW moved from back last November . They looked busy for 2 months . I still see 15 or so cars out front but read the building is abandoned all ready. I drive past it 2 or 3 times a week but never went to check them out. Bike trip...
Ha ... perfect. Wanted to hear your thoughts on this! Saved me a trip to the Grove.
When I worked for Fisker They only had the Ocean one , Extreme, and Ultra but sport was supposed to come in mid-March but sadly I was laid off management was not great there was no communication at all the people I worked with the technicians were amazing group of people I worked with at Buena Park. If you have a fisker in SoCal they just closed the service center in Huntington Beach, but you can walk in at La Palma delivery center.
I can't believe Austin was willing to buy a car but not saloon doors for the office
I have memories of driving the Fisker Karma in Gran Turismo 6 and thinking it was a pretty decent concept, and then I heard nothing about them for years until MKBHD made his video about the Ocean. It's a shame they're falling apart because I think they had some good ideas, but just struggled with the execution of them.
Great video! Love to see more like these
I had a chance to look at one of these extreme models in person and I’m honestly bummed that the company failed. The shape is cool like a Range Rover, faster than cars usually that size it being electric, and all the tech in there seemed cool even though I’m a tactile button guy
The Fisker cars are being produced in Austria - Graz. There have been new for months that the Production line will close...
Great car it drives just awesome. A FOE owner 😊
I remember watching the first fisker from like 2010-2011 and they looked cool but I quickly watched them fail and shut down. Was surprised to see them come back and it looks like they are doing the same thing again
More of these videos please!
I’ve been driving it since December 3rd. I push it to the limits every day and absolutely love the drive here in Florida!
Fisker is so sad. First the Karma. Absolutely wonderful car, but it failed miserably. And now the Ocean, and the sane thing. I really want Fisker to succeed, but they just can never get anything right.
It's always the upper-management that ruins a company; a sales rep won't be able to destroy the company that they work for. Even if they hated the company and wanted to, they simply don't have the power to do so.
Don’t underestimate the impact front line workers have. Upper management is obviously the one driving the ship but the people who are having the day to day interactions with customers are who ultimately leave the biggest impression. Companies like Tesla work because of their creepy cult-like following that was built from the small things.
Yup
Even applying for a job with them when they first opened up their Chelsea location for the showroom was difficult. All of their auto fill selections didn't work and you had to double input your resume even if you uploaded it.
Having to enter the info on your resume again is not uncommon. Most resume parsers are just bad.
You're just describing any job application website.
They don't have, and have never had, a Chelsea location.
@matpat2636 yes they do. Theyre on hudson street and 14th Street next to the apple store.
@@jagenigma 🤣🤣🤣 You mean the NYC store!!! I thought you meant Chelsea in London! Sorry. 😉
If it smells like a hustle it's a hustle. Thank you Austin for the PSA on the brand.
It seems they're not trying to draw to much attention internationally about the issues, steep depreciation or how in the USA they've halved the cost of the top vehicle... On Fisker's UK website, that car Austin spec out is still retailing for £68,945 - There's no discounts as far as I could see over here.
The Extreme's in-stock in the UK are about £43k and the Ultras about £42 k. They have about 40 discounted 2023 cars for sale on the UK site. Similar discounts in Europe aswell. For some reason Fisker decided to ship the majority of the 2023 units all the way to the US, which is why the discounts there are much larger.
Fisker is what Tesla is becoming. Rushing out with unfinished products. I'd say the software problems with the Cybertruck are much more dangerous.
This video stressed Austin so much, he missed his Barbers appointment 😂😂
I had a fisker dealer down the road from me when I was young in Miami
I don't know what happened to that side of the company but it closed when I moved to Orlando. Now everyone says it's a new brand with the same logo
I saw one at a charger the other day after seeing Marques' video and could just think "oof." And then saw one for sale on FB Marketplace for $55 from a guy who's listing said "do some research on what I have before messaging" lmao
Did you mean $55k instead of 55 dollars?
This was a great video 😁
how come you always got donut media shirts on? love it
First time I'd ever heard of Fisker was an episode of Mac Miller and the Most Dope Family, where he got one for being Complex Man of the Year. Since then, the only times I'd hear of it was in songs. Childish Gambino and Jaden Smith have both mentioned Fiskers. I thought they were doing very well, apparently not lol
He got one and it broke down minutes later on the interstate IIRC
Fisker is older than what you mentioned. It started in 07 and first made the Karma. It failed by 2011. Company went bankrupt and all assets for the karma bought by a Chinese investment company who still makes Karma under Karma Automtive. Fisker, the name and man behind the company kept logo and name, new Fisker Inc was launched in 2018
Damn Austin really had to swap the photo of the video! 😂
3:01 Donut media merch , only fair to review the car 😂❤
i thought fisker made scissors
Got to feel for the staff. I'm sure people across sales, delivery, support, and manufacturing have been working their buts off, not only to keep their paycheck coming for a few more weeks or get one more commission but also because they hoped if they could get enough sales over the line, it could save the company in the medium term.
You might want to clarify Fisker Automotive from the main Fisker company which is a multi-million dollar a year company😂
Are the glasses your wearing the new fisker model?
I think that you should have walked away when seeing that the showroom floor model was broken 🤣🤣🤣
Ashton Kutcher drove a Fisker during his first season on Two and a Half Men. So this will be it's second blow up!
The Tsunoda hat is so sick.
Man that's wild that a company that would assume would want people's money, didn't even take yours on the spot until a few weeks later.
They never took his money, he decided not to buy it....
Austin didn't finish the story. Did he cancel the order or did he get it?
austin just wanted a fisker lol. and realized alot of people got scammed lmao. fisker is only good at designing cars but not be a manufacturer, why people thought this would be successful is beyond me.
Damn what a discount lol
If someone could open source the software and keep it updated / semi relevant these could be a smoking deal...
imagine cutting the price of a car by half because its a year old trim. that just shows how much itll be worth in a couple years. itll be worth in the low 10's thousands in the first 2-4 years
I would possibly buy the fire sale because I’m interested in tinkering with it, but it would need to be a daily driver for me. And that doesn’t make for a good tinkering car.
Really useful comment thank you!
if its that hard to buy, how hard would it be to get serviced?
Due to the current economic situation of the manufacturer Fisker Group Inc. and the Fisker sales companies in Europe, there is a risk of limited support and limited services for the vehicles. Buyers must expect a permanent loss of the enforceability of claims for material defects and warranty claims. By concluding a vehicle purchase contract after April 3, 2024, the buyer of a Fisker Ocean declares that he has been informed accordingly and nevertheless wishes to purchase a Fisker Ocean in view of the risk described.
I Love Austin Evans Videos ☮️💟
Near impossible to try replacing all the car parts after the company goes under
Oh, forgot to mention. They made, from what I was told by a very reliable source, they made about 100 Sport models. One of the guys that has a CZcams channel, not mentioning names, he has one. BUT, it appears the advertising hype that they had them during the fire sale, that appears to not be true. Multiple people have looked for the Sport model and no one could find one within the available inventory and using the configure your Ocean, the Sport model can be configured but that means that you are configuring a model that is not yet built and seems like it never will be and, for those, they are not discounted in the available inventory section.
Fisker died once of bad quality, and now will again. Please guys give us more car videos, or even make a channel just for them!!

tbh if they hit like sub 10k and there ends up being some sort of 3rd party software support by the time I've built my credit enough and am looking for another vehicle (mine got totaled) I might get one lmfao. that's HEAVILY dependent on the 3rd party support though, I don't think even as low as 1,000 I would get one without it.
Happy that you actually tried to buy the company to save it and bring it to greater heights that only Austin can, Not Duncan. Seems this company had real potential tbh, idk if they got the worse end of what the entire EV industry is going through or they doubted giving you a car knowing the company might not see tomorrow, but if they just sticked it through and gave you a car and still used the last bit they have to work on software etc they'd probabl still pull through with that potential.
this reminds me of the Xiaomi SU7, if Fisker goes bye bye there is a lot of people stuck with a giant paper weight
I love the new direction this channel is taking, makes me feel excited for every new upload again! Austin on the ground is awesome
It sounds like the same issue as buggy games, to much of a rush to get it out even if it doesn't work
so should I wait a while and buy a fisker?
A friend of mine bought a Fisker Ocean Ultra. Honestly, the car's not that bad. Unfortunately, support for this car will be short lived like Android phones in the past. He also bought it like about a month ago and a half ago. Like a week before Marcus dropped his review and also before the prices plummeted.
Sounds like these cars are going to wind up as very expensive e waste
MKBHD: DO NOT BUY THIS CAR
Austin: ait imma do it
I worked for a company that would modify fisker karmas insto super cars. My boss was partnered with Henrik Fisker. Pretty neat.
Let me get that car when you done lol
Saw one yesterday. It honestly isn’t bad looking. Just yikes on the software and company
This SUV looks cool, hard to believe there's nobody there to continue the company.
Damn was waiting for a non ad and Entertaining video and it didn't happen. Could have made so many more videos about this. Even if they go under he would have made money on this car making videos of the aftermath. Should have still bought it.
It still looks better than any Tesla ever made...
Not better than the s & x
That used bar of soap looks better than Tesla. Nope
Well if he did follow through i hope he enjoys it if it really does arrive as to what he ordered as he'd technically have a rare model and thinking about it, these cars could become programmable for tech enthusiasts to improve upon like the DMC DeLorean enthusiasts crowd. ❤
If fisker owners are lucky and fisker unlocks all the software before they close the last door. And the price drops between 15k and say 22k The Ocean might turn into a pretty fun cult car supported by a small community of enthusiasts that will provide support. With a software unlocked Who knows what they'll be able to do. They might get features and mods to work that were never intended.
Truly the cyberpunk on release day of vehicles.
I feel bad for all the staff that were involved in that "sale". I expect a lot of work went on behind the scene to have the rug pulled out from under them.
Your the reason I build pc’s really helped me find my passion for computers, coming to realize it came very naturally for me. Thank you for being an inspiration and showing people the in depth world of technology.
This isn't an EV problem, I see people berating EVs and holding this up as an example. This nothing to do with the fuel source, all car manufacturers make bad stuff (yes Ford ecoboost 3 cylinder i'm looking at you and VW with dieselgate as 2 examples) this is to do with bad management at a car company and shoving out unfinished products. That can happen to any product whether it be EV, diesel, petrol or white goods or anything. It's happened in the software industry for years now, push out software like a game that's a mess and then needs patches.
The internet and broadband has allowed those companies to get away with it further as it's now a lot easier for large patches to download and nearly computers are online most of the time.
The car industry seems to be following the same route with car software, shove the car out and then send OTA patches to get bugs fixed and get it working.
Governments need to get a handle on this right now, maybe we need a version of ATOL for the car industry to protect car buyers from bad cars, bad companies and collapses like this especially given the vast number of startups making cars now
I understand why you didn’t go through with it but I think you should have anyway. You would have easily made back the money doing a video every 3 months going over the state of the company and car.
Fisker Ocean One. A classic in the making. Give it 3 years and the same Austin Evans will be telling his audience how cool the car is.

Tks for sharing the experience. Jeez. These guys cant get their poop in a group...
What Fisker should do is when they near their inevitable, at this point, end, release the OS to the public and make the car actually user updateable, this way those who actually got one, could, with the help of the community, try to fix bugs, and add new features to make it a stable vehicle.
wonder how long till someone jail breaks "e-cars"
