Water Brings Life: Tabula Rasa Farms, Phase 2 - Elemental Ecosystems

  • This is the second year of our water restoration project at Tabula Farms. Over a dry, hot summer, we installed a stock pond and earthworks which would hydrate the landscape and capture the seasonal rains. If we work with nature, we can restore any landscape back to ecological health. Watch this film and share it to see how water can restore damaged land and bring balance.

Pls keep in touch. Last time I heard as from Cassy, but it has been a while. All the best. Howard, Permaculture Institute Thailand

    Was there some underground water already on the big pond? Also, would this idea (capture rain water) only work in clay? Great material. Look foward for more

    • @Water_Stories
      @Water_Stories  Před 3 lety +1

      There was a small underground water flow in the area of the lower pond. This was observed beforehand by the vegetation. Because of the dry summer it was only a moist layer while building the pond, but now that the spring has been recharged there is a constant flow of cold spring water into the pond. You do need clay to hold the rain water year round. If there is no clay there are other ways to hold onto the water and extend it into the dry season.

    Excellent work and video - sub'd. How much annual rainfall does this site receive?

    • @Water_Stories
      @Water_Stories  Před 3 lety +2

      1090 mm / 43 inches of rainfall per year. That almost entirely comes during the winter rains with a long 4-7 months with little to no precipitation during the summer.

    Good attempt but a pond needs scraggly edges for perma[nent]culture -so native species arrive & keep the water healthy, both plant and animal.

    Thank you. Your commentary is very interesting and beautifully conveys necessary information.. The background musak becomes an ugly distraction from your valuable content because it is unnecessary AND far too loud at first. Less is more.
