  • What a privilege it was to be invited! We can not say enough about how much fun this branding was for us. Having the opportunity to be a part of such a wonderful family oriented gathering was truly a gift. In this video, we try to highlight the families, the work, and what a great time everyone had getting the job done. Huge thanks to Koty Dowell, the Ranch Manager, for not only inviting us but organizing the whole deal. Thanks to The Santa Fe Ranch Owners, Patsy Blount, Mike and Cynthia Thibault, for allowing us to come help . Also, a shout out to all the families we had the chance to meet and work with over the two days.

    Worked on the Johnson ranch in montana.
    1200 pair every spring and then off to summer pastures.
    The separation corrals for moms and calves was right behind my house.
    Noisey !!!.
    The cowboys would cook and eat the sweetbreads at spaying time.
    I was involved in Everything from feeding, calving, preg test, sorting,planting , cattlepot driver and head mechanic.

    One of my favourite times of the year, I think it’s a tie between branding and spring calving/doctoring, the best part of doctoring is I can use a green colt.

    Why don't you guys move your your horses on from the rope halter? Not hating just generally cuarase

    • @310RanchLife
      @310RanchLife  Před 4 lety

      sure it's a good question! For us, trying to get the horse to be soft as possible, using as little as necessary is our goal. We start our horses in the rope halters and just continue to use them. With that said, it's just a tool, like the snaffle, bosal, or whatever the preference, it's more about the release and having light hands with whatever you use. We are not against other tools people use, you can be light with all of them or heavy handed with all of them, it's just our preference to stick with the halters to get those results.
