    Past Recall is such a blessing and curse for us ISTJs. I can just as easily slip into a good memory as a bad one and I'll feel the emotions of both very keenly. Some days I relive highlights like playing in a band or succeeding at work, other days I relive every awkward and embarrassing moment that was ever caused by my social ineptitude.

      I know, I have a music archive in my skull that's a little too acute. A song that I hated as a kid will randomly start playing in my head and then I have to force it out. I try to keep good music active so I can avoid the wrong ear worms.

    As someone who has been keeping up with MBTI for quite a while I just wanted to say I really appreciate this video. Thanks so much for treating ISTJs like we're not just robots or rigid personalities that never want to change. We do have our bad spots sometimes but most of the posts I've encountered over the years painted us as less than human kinda, that all there is to us is being super critical emotionless robots lol.

    Pretty much everything you said was spot-on. I especially appreciate your acknowledgement of our tertiary function, as I hate the stereotype that we're robotic or unemotional.
    As far as my opinions on INTJs and INFPs, I've had my fair share of disagreements with both types, but overall, I think we do pretty well as friends. However.... Not gonna lie, some things about both types I have no almost no patience for are:
    -When the INFP is overly-sappy.
    -When the INTJ tries to talk about something super-deep, like philosophy. I have literally gotten a headache from trying to exercise my bottom, bottom function on their "Everything is connected," blah blah blah stuff.
    Still, great video, and I do hope more people will make some ISTJ content on CZcams, because I'm starting to think we're the most neglected type...

The way we have naturally learned to take care of and understand each other is pretty impressive, to be honest, we approach each other in completely different ways that cater to each other's personality type. I find us so polar opposite in some ways but yet so complementary to each other.

    I'm curious if any of y'all have worked with an ISTJ and what your experience was? I'm an ISTJ and I've always considered myself sort of hard to work with. I expect people to stay on task, know what the tasks are, and be productive. I get sort of angry at people who waste time on their phone or just do sloppy work.... with that said, I don't want to take charge and give anyone direction... I expect them to do it on their own. Even when I'm "in charge" if someone asks me what to do, I'll tell them the end result and expect them to know how to go about it. (I know hard to work with... or I'll just dumb it down and only make them do part of their task and I'll pick up their slack)
    OH also... organization!! Nothing is more annoying than digging through a pile of garbage looking for some random part or tool!! Or tripping over garbage while you're trying to walk, that's definitely no cool.
    Anyway, I mostly agree with your statements, however, I don't think you emphasized enough how awesome we are!!

      INFP: I find ISTJs fairly pleasant to work with, especially since we have the same cognitive functions. Biggest likelihood for conflict lies in me potentially thinking the ISTJ isn't looking at all the possibilities and the ISTJ thinking I'm too disorganized and impractical.

      You just described me perfectly! I feel as though I pull my weight and beyond. I know what needs to be done and how to do it and when others don't I get a bit frustrated and impatient. Although I am trying to improve in this area. I know not everyone thinks like me so I'm trying to take their abilities into more consideration. I need to hold back, in regards to completing the task at hand as quickly and efficiently as I can, and give others time to sort out their strategies for themselves, so I won't have to bare all the weight myself.
      What you said about taking charge resonates with me, too. I don't especially want to lead, but I will if I have to (sometimes, I enjoy it - the feeling of being needed and taking control). And when I do people might see me as commanding and bossy, but not rude and unworthy.
      Yes, I like to keep my space nice and tidy, lol. It may get cluttered from time to time, but not for long.

    You're weird, you know that?!- An ISTJ @ me, an INFP... I love ISTJS, spending one on one time with them feels super valuable. They're awesome, realistic and goofy. As much as my ISTP friend thinks I'm weird it's still easy to tell that she likes me. It always amazes me that she can be a fun, observant, honest person despite sticking to ALL of her routines and not struggling with holding up all of her responsibilities... Whereas I shut down and come off as weird if I'm overwhelmed lolol.

    I’m an ENFP and my sis is a stark ISTJ. It’s very funny to see the differences between us, like we can’t shopping together because we get into fights. We’ll go to like, a clothes store, and she’ll say “Okay, what do you want, and how long do you need to get it?” And I’ll be like I have no idea (internally), and I’ll say whatever she wants to hear so she won’t bother me, because why the heck is a schedule or a list important for the leisurely activity of clothes shopping?? Sigh. Anyway, so I’ll be looking around for like half an hour or whatever the appointed time, and I won’t have found what I set out to look for but I’ll find other things on the way, and then I might want to look at all the other things too, because it’s so fun to explore and touch everything. And then Ariela will get mad cuz I didn’t fit in the set time, and then I get annoyed because it feels like we can’t have fun unless it’s on a schedule, and then she’ll say that I’m being disobedient, and then I’ll say I just want to shop and I don’t understand. Anyway. We don’t shop together anymore. Ariela, my sis, complains that I spend money without thinking, and that I never plan for anything or do chores on time. I complain that she’s so preoccupied with scheduling she forgets about her family and about just having fun with us. I used to feel like she only cared about time and mone. Not people. Oh! When we were kids I would always run off in the park and try to hug strangers, or jump into the lake, or climb a tree. Dad would always send Ariela after me and she’d tell me to just sit and be quiet until dad told us to do something. My Dad’s an INTJ and my mom is an ESFP, which is really ironic. That’s probably how we got our genes you know? Sometimes, because my dad is an N type I can really understand him a lot better than my sis. He and I like to talk about philosophy and metaphors, and he helps me understand the idea behind rules and their importance. That helps a lot, cuz I won’t do something if I think it’s not meaningful. Ariela would just get frustrated at me if I don’t do something cuz I don’t understand the meaning, she’d be like the meaning doesn’t matter, you have to do the thing! But it does matter, cuz otherwise I can’t do it. Oh, and my mom is very free-spirited and peppy like me. Sometimes, she’s a little too dumb to understand like metaphors and imaginary concepts. We’ll be watching a show and like I’ll have to explain to her what metaphorical significance a certain action or object has. But we have a lot of fun together! I guess my family’s pretty weird.
    Yeah :)
    Yeah, they are.

    I'm an ENFJ girl and my 2 best friends at school are ISTJ boys. We're all pretty nerdy, but I'm more of an artistic nerdy and they're MAJOR science/maths/computer programming nerds. The one of them has a wonderfully sharp sense of humour, but sometimes his humour is a bit dark for me. They're both very matter-of-fact and don't tend to hold back on their opinions of things. It does just seem to be because they don't think about whether or not they're being a bit bossy. They both love my creative work (I'm a portrait artist and I also write songs), but sometimes they'll look at a portrait and say "It's just as good as the last one you did. I don't know why you're more excited about this one." which is weird because if they watch me drawing they're really impressed. The one friend I was talking about before loves showing me meme videos because I laugh at more things than he does, and he likes the way I laugh lol

      Wish people would stop putting these systems together. Since the systems were developed separately there is no basis for concluding, for example, that an ISTJ is the same as as ISTj. If people want to discuss Socionics, they should use the three-letter terms and just do Socionics. What's going on now just causes a whole lot of confusion. Makers of videos should be working to reduce confusion.

    • @carnationsensation
      @carnationsensation Před 6 lety +2

      Rho Heta is right! The types are not the same in Socionics. For example, the Socionics INFJ = the Myers Briggs INFP (And the Socionics INFP = the Myers Briggs INFJ). So when you're talking about INFJ in socionics you're actually talking about INFP in Myers Briggs (and vice versa) and not everyone understands that. The reason for this switch of letters is because Myers Briggs bases whether a type is a J or P on - not their very first cognitive function - but on the very first 'extroverted' cognitive function; whereas Socionics places a J or P at the end based on the type's very first cognitive function regardless of whether that first function is extroverted or introverted!! So half the types in Socionics are the same letters as they are in Myers Briggs and half of them are not the same letters as in Myers Briggs ....(I don't know a lot about socionics, but that's the one thing I know. Someone PLEASE correct me if I'm wrong or mistaken!! I'm pretty sure though!!)

We want the same end goals and on the outside it might look like we are doing the same thing but we are not. She tends to be more traditional and calculated where I tend to think about the possibilities and potential. Also growing up with our personalities together was really easy but also annoying. She tended to take more leadership positions and share her opinions always with super facts and no emotional support towards it. It didn’t bother me when she did unless if I realllyyy wanted to be in the position if power for once. I agree with the closeness and being able to get inside someone. It never really happened and it’s nothing something we care to explore to much either

    INTJ who has typed as ISTJ before, Can agree with the socionic relationship of being look-alikes. When this mis-type happened I was in a stressful life situation that required quick and extreme development of self-discipline, so I basically functioned as ISTJ. I still use some ISTJ principles/qualities in order to be the most effective person I can be at work and to actually be able to execute the master plan, but only after writing it all out so that I don’t forget anything. It does suck to have to master-plan as an INTJ and then actually have to execute everything down to the grunt work as well, but that’s where using ISTJ powers helps.

    I'm an INFP my brother frustrates me with the things he says and I think he's an ISTJ but I am wondering what you and other people thought. So my brother can be very myopic in his tastes be it entertainment, food, fashion sense and his opinions. When he likes or discovers something he can zealously fixate on it and drag others with him on that journey of discovery but when comes to someone else liking something he can be somewhat rudely critical or closeminded about it.
    For example he makes backhanded comments about the type of shows and movies I like and constantly asking me how I could like something like that? don't you find it stupid? Can you explain to me why I like this? While he has no problem telling people why I should like something that he likes. I spend most of the day watching the stuff he likes for the majority of the day and he couldn't be bothered to try to something that I introduce to him for half an hour without interrupting it.
    He's also like this with food very closed minded and mocks me for being such a foodie. I've tried Russian, Ukrainian, Afghan, Greek, Italian, German, Korean, various Chinese regions, Japan, Filipino, Ethiopian, Mexican, Indian, Thai, etc the list is big.
    Most of the times he can't even pronounce the foods that i suggest and sometimes mocks the food itself. For example Japanese food he'll only try a small portion of the menu. I ask him if there is a Takoyaki on the menu and he's like wtf is that? Teriyaki? I can't understand you and you're weird foods or something as simple as Ramen or Pho.
    Lastly he's constantly asking me questions I can't or don't want to answer because they are abstract or more nuanced then a simple straight forward answer and the majority of the time its not about getting my opinions but to reinforce his own ideas and sometimes he's so block headed that he isn't listening to what I even have to say about it.. I also believe some answers need to be discovered on your own. It really really really frustrates me and I'm trying to hold back my anger by ignoring it but he never lets up.
    Anyways does he sound like an ISTJ because i'm trying to understand him better so I can deal with him better or do you think he's something else? What else?

    I'm an ISTJ. I had a gf back in the day and I think she was an INTJ coz of how thoughtful and analitical and calm and rational, reserved and understanding she was and also down to earth but we did have arguments because of how we conceived socializing, she was from another country and possibly we had different approachs on how to socialize which I'm not good at tbh, but still quite rigid about my beliefs of how it should be.
    But the thing I wanted to ask is: "what other types apat from ENFP could be end up dating?", I mean, I would rather date a non extroverted personality coz once in the relationship, when the novelty ends and the hormones get back down, they need to go outside and talk to people and socialize and I don't want to always be the one that stops her from doing what she loves coz I don't like socializing sadly. So what is your advice? What introverted type suit me? INTJ only?
    Thanks and regards.

    Very interesting how you have a very positive relationships with ISTJs.
    I'm an INTJ and my mom is an ISTJ. I am quite comfortable debating with my mom so we tend to exchange ideas a lot. One thing I've noticed is that when I am trying to see potentials, she tend to shut me off when she the knows something to be right. When I am trying to make her consider better options, she tend to see it the first time but when I get wrong on the first time, she will double down on her argument and be extremely closed off from my Ni suggestions.
    Since we basically are reverse mirroring our Hero and Demon functions, I'm surprised you had only postitive interactions. But maybe that's only because we are very comfortable arguing with each other. Or maybe only I am since I can sort of see it as part of my growth, learning how to debate and connect with my mother; but taxing for her since I keep making her deal with the demon function? She have many times expressed dislike in our arguments so do you advice me to stop?
    I'm still young and only very recently learned to be more open with my mother in the past months as I was an anti-social kid who had trouble handling the Fi sensitivities.
    Do you think I should stop vocalizing my Ni with her? She seems very uncomfortable with it and with our mirrored Fe trickster and our Fi Child, we often feel hurt about our arguments though I seem to be able to deal with the Fi child during the argument better than she is. Idk how she deals with it outside the argument.
    I've been trying to connect woth my mother but something is going wrong with how i approach it and I'm confused as to how to fix it. Maybe I shouldn't be ising my hero function with her at all?

Hell, it even depends on what time I had to get up in the morning. After many, many hours of research and reflection, I have come to a conclusion. I refuse to be 100% labeled. This is probably the closest I’ll get to a video about my type. I get along with them fine although there are some Te/Fe clashes.

    I'm soo tired! when Alex said you doing typing, I thought: Transcriptions services? too se and te for those two. I'm taking a nap. Bye. PS I love these videos and your examples of real life encounters with different types.

    Can you make a video in more layman terms? It doesn't help hearing all the alphabet jargon. With that and the highpitched giggles it gets annoying trying to learn something.

      "Highpitched giggles".
      So true. I had to stop the video after a minute.

    Random, yes. Will you please type DearNaptural85 based on her latest video "Everything?" I've watched her for awhile and I have some ideas but I'd like to know what you think. I think her husband is an esfp or estp... Type her! Please.

      INFP: Visual typing takes me and Alex about an hour (combined) to complete, thus we generally don't take requests. Thanks for understanding.

    Alex, have you every consider yourself being an INFJ, not INTJ? DON'T GET MAD JUST ASKING!!!

      INFP: She has! Then realized she isn't. The reason I'm answering is that we decided a while ago that I'd answer comments and she'd reply to emails.

      Until now. I have a whole mini-series on my channel called "ISTJ Info Dumping." You can't get more authentic scoops on the ISTJ than from one.

    Sheldon Cooper

    • @joeysanchez5768
      @joeysanchez5768 Před 6 lety +3

      Very sure he’s an intp tho. Literally everything he says is sprayed with Ti and Si

    • @Olivetree80
      @Olivetree80 Před 6 lety +4

      I used to think so, but he's obsessed with external organization. TJ's also have strong unconscious Ti that motivates them to absorb a lot of knowledge. I also see no Fe in him, but it's debatable.

    • @rhoheta5243
      @rhoheta5243 Před 6 lety +2

      Sheldon seems much more INTJ. Very uninterested in traditions and conventions. Very precise in what he wants.

    • @joeysanchez5768
      @joeysanchez5768 Před 6 lety +4

      Rho Heta still sounds INTP to me, he seems to demonstrate way more Ne than Ni because of his weird and quirky attitude. Plus Si for him is tert, so upholding tradition is not a priority for him

    • @rhoheta5243
      @rhoheta5243 Před 6 lety +1

      Agree that he does seem INTP at times, but certainly not ISTJ. While ISTJs do go for law degrees, very few of them are interested in theoretical physics. But you don't see any weirdness or quirkyness in INTJs? I suppose you find Leonard an INTJ then? and Howard an ENTP?
