  • In this video, I go over a 2 week period to see if the propane torch (flame weeder) actually works. I had some nasty weeds in my driveway and front steps to the house.
So far I'm pretty surprised with the results. Check it out!

I've used this technique on ivy and it was the only thing that worked. Thanks, for the video.

Hey no worries I find it works better if you turn up the heat a little bit and just cook em. Cheers.

Do you know roughly how many average patios or driveways could you treat with one of these cylinders?

Does it damage the patio blocks or rocks??

I didn't notice anything with the pavers and patio blocks I've used it on

Is this an effective way to kill the weed seeds as well?

    • @GilbertGardens

it works decent enough. I still use this to kill weeds. Its not a be all end all solution though about twice a summer. it works better if you catch them early.

I'd be very wary of burning near a garage like that with potential combustibles or petrol fumes from equipment.

Also you can do it with boiling water. takes a bit longer

Wrong technicue. When you burn the weeds completely, the roots start straight away to form new buds and leaves.
If you only shortly sear the weeds to “burst” the cells, the root keeps sending reserves up to the wittering leaves depleting the energy reserves.
So if you don’t want the weeds to return, don’t burn them away.

ive heard this before. ive got pretty good success just cooking them but i will give this a shot thanks.

The weeds will return eventually even if you use a nuclear bomb.
