I have a Honda 87 XR 250R and it is the same setup, changed my oil a week after I bought it. I put the same oil and oil filter in it, but I coated the filter in oil, which seemed to help, the old oil was really bad! Coating the filter, seemed to better the engine and picking up more conposites. I changed the oil a month later, just to be on the safe side, and it was black again, I did a third oil change 6 months down the line and the oil came out cleaner, so I figure I'm on the right track.

Good video. Just picked up exact bike. Drained the oil today after getting it hot. No manual yet so I'm using this as a guide. Gotta get a filter tomorrow and some more oil. The old oil was black and sludgy with a lot of grey as often I see in these used bikes. I'll change it again soon to finish cleaning it out. Bike has some torque. Lots more then my xr200.
But it needs card cleaning. The carb looks a bit complicated. Wish me luck.....

They are great bikes. Maintenance is key to anything, so anyone that has one, just have patience, it is an older bike, and people usually ride the hell out of them. Overall I can't conplain, it keeps up with a 2003 Honda CR 250 2 stroke.
