  • Today we take apart Samsungs New Galaxy Fold 3. Grab a teardown skin for your phone HERE: www.dbrand.com/teardown The Galaxy Fold 3 might be the worlds most advanced smartphone. Samsung has said that the Fold 3 has an IPX8 Water resistance certification. Meaning the Fold 3 can last for 30 minutes in water 1.5 meters deep. Thats pretty impressive for a phone with so many moving parts. How did Samsung make the Fold Waterproof though? There is only one way to find out, and thats with a teardown from JerryRigEverything.

I must admit it was interesting and I think I might go ahead and buy it. I can't remember how much it was at the store in the mall but I don't think it would come out to $1,800.00 after the exchange rate to the Thai Baht. If I remember correctly it will be under $1,000.00.

Yes they really did a great job, I work in the engineering field but nothing like this. People are so quick to say what could have been done better but usually that was considered but the big picture did not allow for it such as not having space, time, or too much cost. Mechanics are famous for this. Yeah we could have put that component in an easier location if you don't mind the extra weight, cost, and size. Nobody considers the cost to replace a starter at 100k+ miles when purchasing a new vehicle so for an OEM to spend extra to make it easier to change provides no perceived value to the customer therefore they aren't willing to pay extra for it.
By the same token yes we could make just about anything last forever but again too expensive etc.

Great review, I have a question regarding finger prints on the inner display's screen protector vs. the inner screen after you removed the inner protector. I had a Z Fold 2 and removed the inner display protector, which I was happy about, since it was very rubbery and did nothing to repel fingerprints, but I noticed the Z Fold 3's protector is thicker and better quality, and seems to repeal finger prints pretty well. I'd like to remove it for two reasons, pocket dust collects all around the edges of the protector, and my S-Pen always catches on the edge of the protector when I draw in from an edge. That being said, I'd be bummed if after removing the protector, I started getting fingerprints showing up on the inner display, when I didn't on the protector. What has been your experience, since you used it with and without the inner display protector now?
