    Amongst the sea of C4 vids, I appreciate yours the most; clear, concise, good lighting and camera angles, well explained and demonstrated but without the ramblings and off topic rants of many others. Looking forward to seeing more!

    I’m glad to see the internals of this engine looking good. I was a little worried about the condition of this car given all the rust and nastiness I’ve seen.

    Welcome back Chris! It looks really good up in that engine. Those numbers are weights of the pistons when they made sure they were all the same weight, they would have done the rods the same way.

    Great to see another video on your restoration of your Calloway VETTE. I was just in Phoenix 2 weeks ago to teach my 1911 custom build school. Had some great mid week temps but the mid 90s and up are bummers. I hope to be able to stop by next year when I am back to meet you and see how your project is coming along. Sure enjoy your videos!

    Does the 90 Corvette have the Flood Clear Feature? Press the brake pedal and gas pedal all the way down then hit the start button. Your engine cranks without adding fuel so it clears it if its flooded. Then release the gas pedal and it starts right up. I do this in the spring before first start up to lubricate the engine.

    Those turbos are tiny. Old, extremely inefficient. Bet swapping to a modern ball bearing chra and updated turbine/volute and youd gain a lot of power/efficiency. Can definitely appreciate the numbers matching restoration aspect of your project, but wow. Even an out of the box set of modern aluminum heads, a modern hydraulic roller, beehive springs, lighter pistons with ring pack half as thick. So easy to get to 500 wheel horsepower and not hurt drivability. Just insert 15-20 grand in parts. 😅

    The amount of rust would scare me on this car I have a 94 Illinois car that sat outside most it's life hardly any rust underneath compared to this car pull that motor that's gonna be a 20 thousand dollar job

  • @randallorr3730
    @randallorr3730 Před 2 lety

    You are correct. The numbers you see is the weight of the piston and road assemblies in Grams. I am somewhat assuming that it is the weight of the assemblies not just the piston. Typically the weight of the piston by itself is lighter than that. Callaway left no stones unturned when he did these engines. Obviously balance is big when your running a lot of Rs.

      @@thomaswilson8634actually, it's pretty common, start a project a d the car ends up sitting in a garage for 15 years. Kids get born, married, jobs change, economy crashes, life has a way of doing that. That's why you see so many "barn finds" on you tube. It happens. Doubt it was meant as an insult.

    Balanced and blueprinted motor. 610.5 may be the weight of the piston. I would imagine that “balanced” would mean that all 8 would weigh the same. Just my guess.
