I am Romanian Orthodox and the Orthodox religion is the original Christianity from Jesus and his followers and it has not changed since the very beginning. The Catholics decided to make changes and then many other denominations were formed in the west but Orthodox stayed the same. God bless all Orthodox brothers and sisters

In my Church in Moscow in Chertanovo we also have a priest who is a native American. On the whole we have 3 priests, one is a Ukrainian, the second one is an Armenian and the 3d as I said is an American. And they are all Russian Orthodox priests.

Жить с мужчиной, который перетащил тебя на другой конец мира и при этом воспитывать в нонстопе 8 детей, когда муж принадлежит делам прихода и служит Господу это ещё та "конфетка" для любой женщины. Где не у каждого мужчины нервы выдержат...но без любящего сердца его жены и у Джозефа вряд ли бы получилось воплотить свое призвание. Как там в Притчах 12:4 Добродетельная жена- венец для мужа своего. Ведь редкий мужчина бросит всё и пойдет за своей женой на край света ради любви к ней, а жена отца Джозефа пошла, да ещё и не только пошла без сопротивления, но и с 8-ю детками, а для женщины это как умереть и заново родиться, очень больно и тяжело, как душевно, так и физически, потому что мы женщины менее склонны к риску, тем более в такой важной для нас сфере, как любовь и семья. Как говорят мудрые, мужчина, который не одержал победу в задуманном, тот проиграл, а женщина которая не проиграла и не потеряла хотя бы в малом, уже победила. Без сексизма, она действительно очень отважная и любящая женщина, наверное и сам Джозеф не до конца понимает, как сильно его любит жена.

Кстати. Мало кто заметил, но в видео была пересказана история военизирования России. Изначально стояла церковь, люди жили мирно и никому не угрожали. И только после нападений иностранцев, коих русская земля перенесла не мало со всех сторон, мы начали возводить защиту и учится воевать. Это ведь настолько крутое видео в плане истории становления и расширения Российской государственности и тех смыслов и идей, которые Россия пропагандирует - НЕ ЛЕЗЬТЕ К НАМ. Каждое расширение России обусловлено не стремением захватить соседние земли, а угрозой от этих соседних земель. Так было с Кавказом (от Турок и Англичан), Причерноморьем (от Турок и Англичан), Сибирью (от Монгольского ига), Западные земли (От немцев и поляков). Кто не помнит историю, тот и получает от неё по башке. И позвольте напомнить цитату Александра Невского, покровителя моего Пскова - Кто к нам с мечом придёт, тот от меча и погибнет.

Справедливости ради, Святослав (отец Владимира Святого) захватил Киев и пошёл дальше кошмарить наших западных партнеров от широты души и горизонта, фактически, правила его матушка - княгиня Ольга. Мотивы по которым Вещий Олег прибил щит на врата Царьграда тоже были не самые безобидные (примерно с этой же целью рядом с Бундестагом стоят Т-34). Это с принятием христианства мы немного подуспокоились, а так, у наших северных и западных соседей до сих пор должен глаз дёргаться при словах Псков, Новгород, Ладога и Смоленск.

Для меня меня первым американцем( известным в России), перешедшим в православие был Серафим Роуз.Как я понимаю, сейчас в нашей стране складывается небольшая православная диаспора из представителей англоязычного мира.Это очень здорово! К сожалению, катастрофы 20века(две мировые войны,гражданская,голод, репрессии и т.д.) на нашей территории : подорвали и демографию, и христианскую культуру.Вот, так возможно "с мира по нитке", что -то новое светлое от Бога и соберётся

Thank you for this video. Very interesting. Actually wish it was longer. One of the things that annoy me in the foreign films (US/British ones in particular) is that they put benches in Russian churches. Russian churches (even outside Russia) are all standing churches! People literally have to stand throughout the service, however long or short it is. Yes, it's hard, but that's the point. It's not meant to be easy. There are no benches, no pews, other than a few possible chairs at the back of the hall for people who can't stand or very old. But somehow every time the Russian church is shown in a US/UK movie/show, it's always filled with benches/pews. Honestly, this level of ignorance to the foreign culture is unfortunately too frequent to ignore.
Actually we talked about no benches but I had to cut it because the sound inside the church was so bad. Also it is longer. We just posted part 2.

В православных церквях обычно служба ведётся на церковнославянском языке. Если разрешили вести службу на английском, наверное отец Joseph из Америки очень хороший человек 😊

В России, в Москве точно, есть Православные храмы, где служба ведется на английском языке. Я не знаю, являются ли они частью РПЦ, возможно, нет, но таких людей НАДО принимать. Кому еще их принимать, как не русским Православным. И Протестантов тоже надо принимать, т.к. у нас один Христос, Его именем мы спасаемся.

Я даже слышала, что из-за этого россияне, владеющие английским или активно изучающие его, предпочитают посещать англоязычные службы. Я не понимаю, как молодые люди, которым и так непросто прийти к Богу, должны еще и учить церковнославянский, чтобы понимать богослужения? Зачем им такие сложности создавать? Я в России не живу, хожу в англоговорящую Православную церковь. У нас нет ни платы за свечки, ни платы за таинства, у нас только добровольные пожертвования и службы мне более понятны, чем в зарубежной РПЦ. Простите, если это выглядит, что я на Вас набрасываюсь, Вашей вины тут нет. Просто для нас с Вами удивительны разные вещи.
@@marias5088 , если вы ходите в православную церковь, то спросите у вашего священника почему литургия читается на церковнославянском в российских храмах. Рассуждения про оплату свечек и обрядов мне кажется и вовсе неуместным, если вы не в России. В России государство не поддерживает церковь. Мне не жаль денег на свечи, на обряды, и даже могу себе позволить заказывать молебны. В моих глазах это и есть пожертвования в пользу церкви. Там тоже люди служат, и любой труд должен быть оплачен.
Этот американец, который стал в России священником. Удивителен ещё и тем, что притягивает к себе из США американцев, которые благодаря ему возвращаются в церковь Христову. Смотрел как то другой видеоролик о нем. Он уже возле себя собрал множество англоязычных эмигрантов из западных стран и практически возле него формируется целая англоязычная община православных англичан, американцев и тд. Если все так и продолжится. Через несколько лет там реально целое поселение появится состоящее из граждан России, этнически англосакского происхождения 🙂

Don't mind the people writing bad comments to you, most of them are not from Russia but from Ukraine. Not simple Ukrainians but people who are paid for telling lies about Russia and everyone who is for Russia.
Bad comments do not have any affect on me. I respond to them only for the algorithm. Of course we have part 2 with Father Gleason still to come out and we want to do more if that is what the subscribers want.

@@expatamerican3234 логически предположил. Так как в этом видео вы не познакомили подписчиков с его семьёй, с его бытом, с его окружением. Лишь отчасти раскрыв его личность перед зрителями. Осталось много недосказанности. И естественно вы бы не поехали в гости к Джозефу, ради короткого интервью на пол часа беседы. Вам и самому интересна жизнь в России вашего соотечественника из США. Вам интересно узнать о том как он устроился, что его мотивировало на переезд в Россию, как живёт его семья, и тд. Соответственно логично предположить, что как минимум будет и второе видео и возможно даже третье если не сможете преподнести в полном обьеме эту встречу в двух видеороликах. Логично так же предположить и то, что через какое то время вы снова к нему приедете в гости на какой нибудь большой праздник и когда там соберутся бывшие граждане США. Так как Джозефа окружают ваши бывшие соотечественники и ко всему прочему христиане. Будучи сам христианином вы само собой разумеющееся будете очень рады общению с такими же переселенцами как и вы. Близкими вам этнически и культурно. Это вполне естественное человеческое желание, которое возникло бы у любого человека, который переехал в другую страну. Каждый будет рад встрече в другой стране с носителями своего языка.
Тем более в одном из своих видеороликов, вы высказывали свои желания о том, что хотели бы видеть в РФ, поселение состоящее из ваших бывших соотечественников. Это автоматически предполагает большой интерес с вашей стороны к Джозефу, возле которого вращается множество англоязычных людей 🙂

This is exciting. An American that moved to Russia became an Orthodox priest. I have never thought that there are such people in Russia. I had heard on TV that a lot of foreigners want to move in Russia because of our conservative traditions, true religions and because Russia is a country of a lot of nations still getting along but I never thought that this is true. In Russia, also in 2009, the course "Fundamentals of Orthodox Culture" was introduced in schools. However, the student and parents can also choose to study another religious culture, or a course of secular ethics. Also, in 2012, the institute of military priests was introduced into the army, temples and churches are being built in military units
What ages? I would prefer a study of all Christian denominations but any of this sounds good.

@@expatamerican3234 It was taught to us by a very secular woman, because at that time it was something of an experiment. It described the main points of the Bible, who Jesus is and other bases in order to explain to children what Christianity is. And then the introduction is precisely in Orthodoxy. Now such lessons are usually taught by priests, or teachers who understand this. So do not be afraid, your children will not be dragged into some kind of sect. But you can read this tutorial if you want.

Thanks for a surprising video! Serving an american orthodox priest in Russia has really amazed me. It would be less impressive bumping into him in Poland or The UK for instance on my take.

@@expatamerican3234 Because I used to live in those countries and there are number of Orthodox churches as well. I reckon The UK is an English speaking country, in Poland a part of population can speak also. It is far easier for an American to live there I guess in contrast to Russia where he was supposed to learn a quite complicated language and be into a different culture.

Человек который знает историю Ярославля, что и как было и есть.....при этом человек с большим сердцем с Богом в душе и мыслях..... Который в 2017 году изменил своё мировоззрение переехал в Россию из Америки, когда в умах многих россиян это манна небесная но это только вывеска жизни с области и экрана ТВ......
Тим Кирби хочет построить американскую деревню, поселение для тех кто хочет переехать в Россию, начать всё с начала на новом месте...... Те кто бежит от политики и навязывания гомосексуальности, трансгендеров, начиная с рождения и родители могут лишиться всего и вся за своё мнение, а Америка, Запад сошли с ума....

Hello, my dear friend! Rostov Velikiy is one of my favorite towns in Central Russia. Despite the town itself is rather poor, there is some feeling of ancient Russia in there. Especially in this Kremlin and around it. The Bell Tower of Rostov is very famous in the whole Russia and abroad for its really amazing chimes. Lake Nero also makes special acoustic scene for these chimes, so the sound of these bells are really something special. As I told you, my family was even living in Rostov for couple of month, so I know how is the life in this town from inside. As for St. Leonty of Rostov, he was the very first priest, who came to this ares to convert local pagans to Christianity, so that's why his grave was always so respected, and I hope, will be respected for all the times. Also, as I told you, there is one American family, which I know personally, and they are practicing Russian Orthodox Christianity in St. Leonty Church in Kommunarov Street. And they live just in the 19-th Century house right next to the Church. The family head's name is Brian, and he is originally from Chikago area. The whole family has moved from Chikago to Rostov, and they don't want to go back to the U.S. anymore. What is interesting about Fr. Joseph, there are people in my area (Khotkovo, City District of Sergiev Posad, Moscow Region), who know him well personally. It is very interesting for me to see this video.
Do the Gleason and Brian families know each other?
@@expatamerican3234 I don't know that, unfortunately. I only had talked to Brian couple of times, and didn't ask him about Fr. Joseph. The rector of St. Leonty Church is priest Fr. Kirill Averyanov. Brian and his family are singers in his Choir.

I have seen a few years ago a Reportage, of the Orthodox Priest Father Joseph Gleason, an American that moved to Russia with his wife and his 8 children.
It's a very nice family and they all integrated in the Russians People's Cultural and Moral Family's Values and seems to have find their haven on Earth to raise their Children in Faith of God and in Harmony in this desapeard way of life in Western Countries, where Nobody cares about others and where Money is their Only "God" that has Value for them.
Hope that more and more People will return to our Christian Values and Moral, because Christianity is a Faith in the Saint Trinity, but Also a Life's Philosophy which incorporated Real Moral Values, that are the Foundation of any Human being thow to be and how to interact positively with the other one, like if it's with him self, with love and tolerance and of course empathy.
From a Christian Orthodox, but not Russian, even if Of consider them as my closest brothers and sisters and Admire them for what they are and for whome they are, a Big Nation, with a Fantastic Rich History, Culture, Knowledge, a People of Immense Courage that deserves our Respect if not Love!
I am European, but I consider the American State, that exists only for 247 years and was in this short time for 244 years in War Mongerings and Wars of Agressions and Plundering of the Wealth of Other Countries that they submitted like real barbarians, with a total lack of any kind of Humanity and all is fake there, all is Narrative an Propaganda about the GreatneSS of the USA, just all just BY WAY OF DECEPTION!
