I agree fully about what said about strand lengths. I used not know how many strands to plait with based on diameter and that would cause either gaps in your plaiting, or the plaiting will not be even on all 4 sides of the thon. Now I have that sense of knowing the length of strands and diameter for the core so the plaiting will be at an angle and look clean and downward.

Seems like caliber whips was struck by lightning and brought back to life. Lol
easy way to make a whip get a string or paracorde get a stick make not close to one of the ends of the string so it can unravel over time and stop there then tie the string onto the stick congratulations u have made the world's simplest whip
Great video, as I was watching your routine in the beginning, I was thinking the dogs in the neighborhood must love you, lol! My dog runs for cover anytime she sees a whip in my hand, crackin' it scares the crap outta her. Anyways, maybe I missed it, but as you are plaiting the 2nd belly, do you simply kinda hold the ends of the 1st belly together and plait over it like that? Or do you integrate the 1st belly's ends into the 2nd, as you do while plaiting the overlay in part 2 of your video? Hope my question is clear, and love the channel, picked up quite a few tips on the whip-making process, appreciate it!

When do you drop the strands on the second belly? I'm a little confused, but great vid!
You drop the strands when the plaiting gets a little crowded, or you run of or cord to the point you can't plait that strand anymore.
Hi I've been working on a 4.5 feet whip. I did everything but now I'm short and at the end the first belly came out fine so now is where I need to know where I came up short on my cord and how can I fix it.
You can melt more cord on the end, or when you make your next whip, cut out longer stands.

It helps the strands to lay down flat.

@@caliberwhips9595 i need a 9 foot whip, and i also need a very short whip that one could whip their own back with. The short whip has to good enough to split the skin which may be difficult for you to make since you usually make longer whips. If you can imaging someone swinging the whip over their own shoulder, to split their own back, that's what i mean. Probably about 2-3' but I'm not sure. You'll have to put leather or a metal plate on your back and test it to see if it will work good enough to split the skin, because that's the purpose of the short one is self inflicted whip scars. Prolly sounds crazy and weird but the customer is always right.
