  • For anyone who cares about their impact on others and their relationships, don't overlook this. Receiving feedback well (especially if it's tough) takes a master-level of emotional intelligence skills and is a vital life skill for anyone, especially leaders. How do you react when the "feedback" becomes "do what I say", when feedback is more like receiving an order. An most importantly, that 'order' goes against your convictions. How do you react to that? My first impulse is to justify my choice and desicion, which has scientific background, but on the other hand the "feedback" is coming from a Manager whi expects me to do what she says. It is a difficult internal conflict. How should o e handle that? By following orders?

What does this practice look like when you are on the receiving end of feedback that is given harshly? How do you keep your "lizard brain" from going into the fight, flight, or freeze state so you can keep the conversation productive?

Do you at any point share your experience? Example - Coworker is upset because they didn’t receive your email. Now they are saying you are unreliable. You did send the email yesterday, and have the proof. At what point after listening to them, do you explain your perspective?
