A brilliant idea, love it. Can't wait to see the entries and the competition 🫶👌🎖️🤜🤛
Definitely gonna have to get another one of these now 😊💙
This is a very clever challenge. I’ll give it a try.
Cool challenge idea, and a great decision to have it done out of the pack. Eliminates any speed open by simply learning the lock. Unfortunately not available down under, but I'm excited to see all the times that come out of it.
I bought mine today. $12. Looking forward to it. 😎
Cool challenge.
Love it! In for it! Ordered.
Sweeet that's what I've been waiting for yesss❤
I'm in! I love the challenges that are starting to come out of the community. This is gonna be fun, and I'm sure humbling.
I had a thought a while back, someone should make an achievement list like video games have, so many points for X challenges. Hell, even titles earned lol.
I recorded my entry this evening and will upload soon. Took me a long time but did manage it, second pick was fast
that's awesome. cant wait to see it!
Good job on that video! I recorded your time and added it to the leader board! Thank you for competing and keep up the great work!
@@sandman_locksportI couldn’t believe how long it look to pick the first time. The 2nd pic was more like it at about it 26 seconds. Shame that doesn’t count lol
@@sandman_locksportthanks. Because I’m only 10 maybe you could count my second time 😊😂
Neat challenge. Something most skill levels should be able to participate in, should they choose.
Can't find this particular lock near me. Amazon only has the vanilla Brinks Commercial. No Pro Max version with a yellow label.😢 I guess I'll have to sit this one out.
I got 2 @ walmart, but I can't open them , I'm on a orange level , there must be some kind of trick , moe
@@shadowshadow2485 hmmm, have you tried discussing it on reddit or on Discord? Maybe there are some people there who can walk you through opening it.
I am ready to try. Give me a few days and will see how I do.
Damn, after several searches......
"Unfortunately, this seller won't send this item to Devon, United Kingdom. Here is what you can do:
- Update your delivery address and try again.
- Find similar items from another seller."
Oh well, if I find one new in the UK I'll give it a go. Not that fussed anyway, great competition though 👍 💜
Sounds fun. Challenge excepted.
@sandman I will pick one up tomorrow and attempt
I bet $50 I won't win lol (joking of course), but I like the thought of the engagement for the community! Thank you for the challenge and look forward to more in the future!..
Also this lock is $16 at my little monopoly town wal mart lol
Wish I could grab one of those padlocks in the UK.
I have that lock in my collection… guess I need to try to find another one.
Done going to get after it now!
Hey Sandman, I’m not sure if I tagged you correctly but I posted a video a few days ago. It was my first CZcams video but I think I’m going to do more. Thanks for the challenge it was fun,
I feel like this is April's fools joke! If not my apologies. Great idea and challenge. First challenge iv seen like this.
I published it the day after just so people wouldn’t think that it is. You understand it till you try.
Ok. So who's buying five of these so they can practice with four of them, leave one in the package, and hope for a win with a net zero loss?👀
Me 🤷🏻♂️🤫😂
🤣😂🤣@@sandman_locksport
😂 and I thought I was being clever 😂
Want to learn how to pick a specific model of lock?!? (eg Yale Y1 or A1100)....?
Buy at least ten of them > Become proficient at opening 7/10 at random > Figure out why you can't pick the others > Then figure out what the difference in pick profile/tensioner or similar you had to use to get an open.
Correct me if I'm wrong @Tipene but isn't that similar to why you design most your profiles, to get a certain lock open?
@@TequilaDave That's great advice and is basically exactly what I did when I first got into locksport. I believe anyone can benefit by taking that approach.
Very cool idea! When is the deadline?
May 1
Are we posting videos on yt or to the Facebook group?
CZcams please. 🙏
Bet
I'm innnn!!❤
Holy heck that was WAY harder than I thought it was going to be, I know what the deal is now but won't spoil it for anyone, My vid will be up in a few days time once I've come to terms with my shame 🤣
video posted and I tagged you. looking forward to seeing how everyone does! I'm sure someone will beat me, but it was a lot of fun.
I’m down 🤙🏽
I just bought this one last night, popped it in less than 60 seconds 🤣😂🤣😂 I wish I saw this video before I opened it🤣😂😂😂
Video or it didn’t happen
@@sandman_locksport I can't, I already opened it😂🤣😂🤣
@@otrwarrior buy another 🤷🏻♂️
I assume not, but is a lishi tool allowed?
Unfortunately no, but maybe in the future
I’m in!!!
Alright, guess I’m headed to Wal-mart.
Yes!
This is the lockpicking lawyer and what I have for you today is me winning $50.
Well, I couldn't get it out of the package. Now I know why. Best of luck to everyone else!
It’s ok! I’ll have another challenge next month!
I have a feeling I might know where this is going, considering Brink's infamous stoopid mass bitting and your oddly specific 'use a hook however you like'. 😁
I'm tempted.. but I never cared to get competitive.
Just add'l info: Amazon (US) doesn't seem to carry this lock; Walmart does but wants $15 for it, online anyway.
No tricks. It’s just a lot harder than people will think. That’s the secret. It’s a 5 minute lock on average. But people will find out the hard way lol. 😂
@@sandman_locksport Yah, it didn't work. So no vid.
I'm planning on a video of my own soon (not a challenge)l, as it turns out a *lot* of Brinks locks (and some Masterlocks) can be opened in about 2 seconds with the technique I had in mind. Not on this lock though. That key keyway got real tight with a standard Peterson the moment I got a little plug rotation. I'll try the lock later, since the video was a bust I just went back to playing Fallout 4, lol
@@LockSpaz good try! Secret is this, it has 3-4 spool pins, and it has counter milling in the cylinder housing, not the plug but the actual housing itself, thus, requiring float picking to pick it in a vice, or an experienced hand to pick it in hand. It’s a green belt level lock and nobody knows it! That’s the challenge.
Im only 10 years old but il try it😅
DUDE. I have one of these, and I CANNOT pick it open to save my life. I thought it was just a skill issue, now I know there's some kind of trick. I get it to false set all the time, but end up bouncing back and forth between two serrated pins that just don't want to set.
Yup, that’s what’s so funny about the challenge. It’s an advanced lock ranked at yellow 😂 but nobody knows until they try it. I opened a similar one on camera and people made fun of me for it, so now it’s everyone else’s turn to try. So far 2 have already given up lol. 😂
@@sandman_locksport Ngl, I got an open once, but I have no idea how exactly, so I don't consider it legit because I've never been able to repeat it.
Im in!
Are we allowed ti look at the key to get the bitting so we have the best chance in getting it as dast as possible?
You can look at the key
Challenge accepted
When is this video due by?
Before May 1
@@sandman_locksport I'm going to try
I'm game
Made a video and tagged you!
Good job! I added your time to the leader boards. thank you for competing! it will be a tough time to beat!
Video uploaded Sandman. Video 093. 😎
I saw it and commented. Good job. I’ll add your time to the leader board. Great work!
@Sandman Just uploaded my failed attempt.
I did get the open at around 1:40 but....
Stand by for redemption video cuz, I just can't let it go.
Ok!
Just posted my REDEMPTION video 😂
After some practice I was able to get the open in under 3 seconds. Is it possible to resubmit my time?🤔🤭😁😄😆😂😅🤣
Id love to see how quickly others can pop this with practice. Not really a competition but just for fun.
I see what you did, you’re asking if you could submit your second time on the same lock that has already been pulled out of the package? No, you cannot do that. That defeats the purpose of the challenge. But I appreciate you for competing.
For some reason my comment is not showing here. No, you cannot pick the lock twice or multiple times for the challenge, the purpose of the challenge is your first time out of the package. I apologize for the inconvenience, but I appreciate you for competing. The only way to make this challenge fair is everybody gets one time out of the package. That’s the challenge. That’s the whole purpose of the challenge., picking a lock blind. Not submitting your fastest time overall. Thank you again very much for competing!
@@sandman_locksport I was kidding. It was really just a joke.
@@Locksport101understood. You got me. 😊
I went out & two , my keys have very little bitting , & I can't single pick or rake either one & I'm working on orange level locks , I'm 70 yr.s old , but I be able to open a yellow lock. Darn. Moe
That’s the point of this particular challenge. It’s a learning lesson to never judge a cheap lock. You’re doing just fine. Keep working on them at your own pace.
Thank you for answering me back very very thoughtful , thank you for your encouragement , maybe they should move this lock to orange or green , bye moe
Your a black belt, how can a non black belt beat you. I never saw a lower belt student beat his instructor in Martial Arts.
I see your videos and your amazing, were suppose to beat you? Maybe if I win ill try beating Mike Tyson
He's a brown belt who's opening some black belt locks, but hasn't earned a black belt yet 😅
@@wolfganggrojcig2528 I catch you point. Bruce Lee always did say the only thing belts are for is to hold your paints up.,
You'd be surprised at how quick even lower level pickers can get "easier" locks open such as this. If you look at Sandman's opens, he quite often takes a slow but methodically accurate approach.
I'm not sure how he'd go with something like this, but quite often his method of picking leads to opens with a fine hand that may lag behind others time wise who use a less fine approach. For example, I like to go quickly. Yes it can result in quick opens for some things but it also can punish you at the highest level.
This challenge for out of the pack will probably bring some of the best pickers as well as some less experienced pickers into the mix, and I quite like that. It's not about learning the lock, but about executing your own flair and techniques perfectly in a concise manner.
@@alpama37 I like your philosophy on that, thanks for the tips!
If it eases your concerns: There's also the random factor of key bittings that can influence the outcome. Say, if he gets a cursed lock and everyone else gets easy ones, then there's a high chance he can lose. Belts don't count in those situations. I managed to run into very problematic cheap locks lately.
For example.: High cut spool in position #1. Low cut in the middle and then high cut spool in position #4. The keyway could be an S shape paracentric keyway. When #1 binds it basically blocks the picks from going into the keyway and if the tension tool is positioned too deep in the top of the keyway it can fly out while attempting to pick it. Tight tolerances can make the situation worse, cause it could force him to pick #1 multiple times. Making the whole picking process a real drag. In this situation, he could theoretically spend hours trying to get the tension right and going back and forth between hooks.
As you saw i managed to get one so will be doing a video hopefully this weekend. Have you had many entries yet?
So far 5
Count me in, do you have to post here or can we post the video in your Facebook group?
It has to be on CZcams. You can set it to unlisted if you prefer. Tag me in the title and message me here when it’s done.
Had a look around and no dice On getting one over here UK side. Would have had a go otherwise
Once I get my black belt, I’ll be putting more emphasis on euro profile cylinders
