Hey bro! I'm new here, just popped a sub. I'm getting into the mixing community as I got a Akai MPK261 as a X-mas present. I've got around 12 years of experience on Piano, and about 7 on trumpet. So I have a decent grasp on music and music theory. I don't know much about music making software so your videos have been super helpful. I keep youtubing how to fix problems and your video will pop up and fix the exact thing I was looking for. Thank you for the helpful videos and good content!

I'm not a FL user but imo the MPC was more a workflow that was ideal for drums and chops than doing melodies and stuff so I use it as a VST in Renoise so I could track my melodies and basslines and stuff like Im used to and use MPC beats to drums and not have to program it step by step so it can be done faster and some way more organic.

I understand how to record plugins and I also know how to program the drum pad buty issue is when I switch from plugin to drums the sound goes away. It would be so much easier if we can just record drums over the top of the plugins without the plugins being automatically muted. Like that should be much more simple and it's the only thing preventing me from playing drums over the music and vice versa. Also I don't have access to the top left menu so Im not able to open the drums in the piano roll instead. Can anyone please give me some tips so I can just record drums over the plugins and vice versa. I can make anything my mind can conjure up but I just want to record it in a simple way. I'm honestly getting really frustrated over this and I really just want to make a song.

I really really appreciate this vid, Ave!! But... I'm having a real serious issue using 16 LEVELS. I'm an old school Akai S950 and MPC 2000XL user. I've never had any probs with 16 LEVELS...until Beats? lol When I click 16 LEVELS on software, it corresponds perfectly with the 'Pad Keys' on my Macbook QWERTY keyboard, but not on my AKAI MPK225 MIDI keyboard. 🤔 On the MPK, it plays the regular program the way it's laid out over the 16 pads. I'm attempting to play 16 LEVELS of a pad on MPK. Pullin' my dreads out yo. LMAO!!! 🙃😂

@@AveMcree Hmm... Maybe I wasn't so clear in my explanation. I have no issue with my MPK225 being setup to be recognized by the software. That's perfect. When I click on the 16 LEVELS in the software and set the 'TUNING' parameter, the pads are still playing the sample program as assigned. Not the tuning of the sample i specified, spread out over the pads. It's flat out not doing it. lol (even after following your instructions). I don't know. I guess if I want to 16 LEVELS i'll just have to bang it out on QWERTY for that purpose. Makes no sense.. but.. What else am I gonna do? lol SO STRANGE AND FRUSTRATING.
      Thanks again

Thanks for your videos. My issue with MPC Beats is running a sampled loop and then trying to add drums. If the sample isn't perfectly cropped I get overlapping sample sounds in poly OR the drums wont play correctly (they cut off when the sample triggers and vice versa) because the whole arrangement is in mono. Can I set my sample (or sample track) to mono and my drums to poly within the same sequence? Again thanks for all you do.

being mpc one newbie, i just started to make some kits/ programs ... let`s say i have chopped a dialog from a movie and later, after i created new samples for every pad ... made a new program with the slices, i want to apply the same EQ Kill effect to the entire program... AND save it with the program, that is no possible right? I would have to do it before or with the Mixer, but with the mixer it will not get saved with that program. Or am i wrong here?
Another option is to apply that effect to each pad, but this is time consuming... one effect for the whole program would be nice to have :-)
