@Owens Autobody All of the worlds problems start in the household. I think the black community has their own problem, unrelated to said "white supremacists". You can't tell me that these "white supremacists", who are obviously a minority, can hold back millions of people without placing hard stops in the system. By hard stops I mean, "you can't do this if you are black".

A lot of us feel this way, but where are the groups that are out there? We need to stand up and tell them that we don’t have to be offended just because someone is racist. The system gives us the chances we need. It’s racist to assume that we are oppressed and offended. Im pissed. Im sick of the left thinking that I need a hand out cause I can’t help myself. These people have no chance of making a difference in the way they're going about it. Try this on for size:
Do You Want to Solve Problems or Protest About Them?
For 20 years, I’ve been practically spit on for following principles those same people promote on a daily basis. I wrote and produced a documentary to address such behavior, but in the last 18 months - I’ve seen savagery beyond anything that inspired it. The smorgasbord of sub-cultures has created another dimension of delusion in America - hardening minds, not broadening them.
Bari Weiss wrote: “But we’re all here because we share . . . a commitment to reason, curiosity, independence, decency, and a hunger for honest conversation. In our upside-down world, holding fast to these ideals can sometimes feel lonely. More than ever, we crave the company of people who share our core values.”

What people crave is the company of those who see themselves as they do. Without “commitment” and “holding fast” - it’s just wishful thinking, and it shows!
The doc was designed as a tool for honest debate. Now? It’s intended for a larger framework to clear the clutter that’s crippled this country. I’ve got an idea - and it’s got teeth. I need fiercely independent thinkers for my Clear the Clutter plan to be fully realized, but right now - one will do.
How do we make people realize they’ve been lied to? You have to knock down one small pillar that’s easier to reach. I’ve got the perfect pillar - on the biggest and most costly lie in modern history, no less.
Fighting the problems of today with conventional tactics is colossally counterproductive, dangerous, and even deadly. But almost everyone is operating on faith-based belief that their efforts will prevail (bolstered by the fact that they’ve achieved some fashion of success). At what cost?
“Dealing on the moment” is what America does “best.” Even those I agree with - don’t look at the totality of a problem (and exacerbate it by failing to do so). They isolate issues within their wheelhouse - without understanding the dimensions that derail their efforts outside of it.
As Barbara Tuchman put it in The March of Folly:
“Like many alternatives, however, it was psychologically impossible. Character is fate, as the Greeks believed. Germans were schooled in winning objectives by force, unschooled in adjustment. They could not bring themselves to forgo aggrandizement even at the risk of defeat.”
      America is “unschooled in adjustment.”
Someone on Twitter once replied, “The solution to this problem is more truth, not less.” “More” won’t make a dent in today’s trench warfare between armies of unreachables. Conventional methods are not working, but they would when combined with unconventional tools to address problems in a manner that could actually solve some.

@@Hoellewood_Solutions I feel something similar as a woman. I know there's sexism out there, I've experienced it in the workplace myself; but I don't think that forming large, formal groups, creating slogans, and protesting is going to fix anything or force people to change their minds. I think competent, talented, hard-working women need to support one another in the workplace and make it clear to their male coworkers and employers that it isn't appropriate to treat women as inferiors and pay us less for the same work men do simply because we're women. There are some places and some people who won't change their sexist ways, but I'm not a one-woman social justice army, and if I can't change those people, I'm not going to spend my life being victimized by them. We can always leave. I know it's risky, but I've done it. I'd rather rely on my own skills and strength of character to succeed than spend time and energy on people I can't change. In the end, as a woman, maybe I've been cheated a male-dominated world in some ways. That's the way it is. We're all held back by a variety of handicaps and obstacles in our lives. All I need is to be successful in my own eyes.

This is a pretty good conversation, but there's ONE gotcha in the middle. When the anchor says "I'm curious about your take on CRT. Why do you think it can be problematic to teach children about the role of race and racism in society?"
The thing is, CRT is NOT teaching children about the role of race and racism in society. That's a massive mischaracterization of CRT. CRT, which is a self-appointed (as in: unscientific) theory, is actually an unproven hypothesis that proposes the idea that modern inequities are a consequence of historical inequities and the forces that cause those modern inequities are a consequences primarily of invisible systemic forces. Further, it teaches us how we should solution against these invisible forces. This is NOT teaching race and racism. It is teaching ONE POSSIBLE (and rather dogmatic) explanation of modern inequities and fails to consider other possible explanations and, more importantly, alternative solutions.
CRT is a potentially valid course to teach at a college level, as long as it's properly contextualized (but it positions itself as "the one true way," so properly contextualizing it would actually make it pretty tough to teach), but where it's dangerous is when adults promulgate aspects of it's teachings to young children (without the need for specific CRT lesson plans) and instill in our children wedges between us that will be hard to remove.
CRT is not history. It's not justice. It's hate and revenge. It feeds on our divisions of the past as it sows our divisions for the future. No matter your skin color, if you want a better world for your children and your children's children, make sure you keep them as far away from CRT as possible.

While some of the problems in the black community are due to race discrimination in the pre-civil rights era, it doesn't explain everything. The percentage of black children raised in two-parent homes was much higher in the 1960s than it is today. Today a majority of black babies are born out of wedlock, and this absence of black fathers has led to poverty, which has itself led to crime. The Black Power advocates convinced blacks that the traditional family was racist and oppressive, and the radical feminists (and I emphasize the "radical" part) declared fathers to be disposable, a combination which proved deadly for black advancement even after most real forms of systemic racism were dismantled.

That was a year ago -- how do you feel now? Keep that question in mind 5 years from now and 10 years from now. Their approach has no chance of working. I know a better way.

I agree with accurate history being taught but teaching little kids that one child is more privileged because of the color of their skin and one is less privileged WILL continue to keep racism alive in this country. While it's inarguable that there's plenty of racism in our country's history, the overall story of America on race is one of overcoming that racism. As an elementary school kid, I was never ashamed of our country for having slavery and racial segregation; I was proud of our country for having ended those things, and that's the way that all Americans should view the history of race in our country.

I don’t completely disagree with some of what was said here, but McWhorter completely dodged the Critical Race Theory question by purposely conflating actual CRT with the made-up version of CRT that conservatives are fighting so hard against. CRT is NOT when a teacher tells their white students that they are oppressors, and it is NOT when a teacher separates students by skin color (come on.. this one is such a ridiculous “boogeyman” for an actual field of study).
Actual CRT is the study of historic and current policies, whether simply implied or literal governmental policy, and their effects on people’s lives. McWhorter even supports this notion later in the video when he admits that our country’s policies have negatively impacted black people to this day-which is such an obvious fact that I’m shocked every time I have to defend the idea.

I have been sharply anti-racist my entire life (many friends and past acquaintances have even remarked years later about how much they learned by my simple actions), but to what end does the woke left online mob really making things better...it isn't. I have been guilted and belittled by peers simply because I am a white 'cis' male but I am never accepted for having an honest opinion on the matter. And at the end of the day, I truely want everyone, from all walks of life, to live a prosperus and loving life.

Wow, how refreshing this was to listen to ,I feel ,even if it's short lived ,that I stepped into an alternate reality where society evolved organically rather than forcefully, into what it's supposed to be

I agree with you regarding wokeness. Sadly the people who promote this are doing it to settle scores. There are ways to deal with racism without introducing hate. And most of the people preaching about this are not really affected but use it for self promotion.
