Game Preservation is not just about preserving games you like.
Bizarre to see the video celebrating that some games are delisted - like Jump Force - especially considering how vocal GVG has been in the past about game preservation. The loss of any art, of any media, is never a cause for celebration.

Not to mention that by celebrating a games delisting he’s essentially stabbing those who worked on it in the back. Not all games are perfect but behind most of them are teams that really do care but are more often than not bound by the will of the publishers.

I enjoyed the video but I was thrown off by the comments saying you are glad that x game was delisted or who cares that x game got delisted.
For me it felt a bit mean spirited especially for the purposes of this video. I'm not saying you should have to pretend to like some of these games but to basically say the game's value as a piece of art is so bad no one should ever play it again felt counterintuitive to the purpose of preservation. In my eyes all of these games deserve to still be available even if they seem bad or unwanted because there is still value in their existence. Whether that is as a teaching tool, to commemorate the hard work that was put into them, or to just satisfy the curiosity of someone who might want to play them one day.
Again the video was good I just wanted to share my personal thoughts on those comments that make up a tiny portion of this video.

6:22 - As someone that actually owns this gane digitally on both PC and Switch, and HAS played it a few times on the latter... You can go screw yourself for saying that you're glad it's been delisted.
Had you actually TRIED the game out beforehand, you'd be surprised at how fun this game can be on the console, especially in short bursts. It really did lead true to being "Splatoon Meets Tony Hawk" and it ended up being surprisingly better than expected for being something a Crayola themed scooter game.
So again, screw you for being glad that a title that's not this bad at all is unplayable now. It really something that goes against the name of a channel called GOOD VIBES Gaming.😤
1:11 - Also, THIS right here? This is misleading as heck righr here since a lot of these games like Jump Force for insteance, which also screw you for that to add that game isn't even that bad at all either, nor too bad looking on the Switch, but games like that still ARE purchasable physically on Switch to this day. You just have to know where to look for the lot of them.

The snippy tone throughout this video is really rubbing me the wrong way. Sure, I might have never played some of the games featured here, but now I'll never be able to. There were actually a few games in here that I planned to look into eventually, in spite of any apparent lack of quality or hype around them. Beyond morbid curiosity or games that are "so bad they're good," even 6/10 games can make a lasting impression for one reason or another. A game doesn't have to leave ripples in the larger gaming zeitgeist to justify its existence. Bad Vibes Baming.
By the way, saying these comments are "just a joke" isn't really the get out of jail free card you think it is. That's mostly because this video is humorless and you aren't very charismatic.

You should never say "I'm glad this game is gone" especially when you say you've never played or heard of it. ALSO I've felt this way for awhile now...In my opinion the downfall of videogames are games that require an online connection/live service games, because Servers aren't forever...a lot of games are continuing to disappear because the companies that made them are moving on to other projects or for other reasons. OR I don't have money to pay for console subscription services to use online play, so to be completely locked out of playing a game OR ever some free demos from the PS store require a plus account because it's an online only game. The only forgiving for a game to be unlisted especially for an online/live service game is that a studio sadly get's shut down, or licensing issues...

However, while this script was largely well-made, this video is distinctly not a very good vibe with some of the more personal comments about liking that certain games got delisted. Even bad games deserve a spot out there, and you can still have a lot of fun with them. That Popeye game from this video is legitimately one of my favorite Switch games because it's so broken and ridiculous that with a big group of friends it absolutely kills. 4:05 As an additional fact, the DX versions of the games are treated as "new" games, so any progress that you have will not carry over if you owned the original game then played the DX version. Same goes for the other platforms that also had the original Mysterious trilogy of games on, which were PS4 and PC.
5:56 What's funnier is that the game then released on PS4 a year after the Switch version was delisted, then the PS4 version got delisted too more than a year after.
13:10 A neat thing I heard about the game was that a separate version for PC was released that allows for private servers. Kinda like Spellbreak.
18:11 The weird thing is that the game is a re-imagining of Nintendo's Popeye arcade game.

I genuinely respect them for looking at their work, saying "hey, this doesn't meet my standard and it definitely won't meet yours, let me go back and fix this so that the players and I feel it's a satisfying title." and then going right back to work on a better version of the game.

Slight correction, Akatsuki no Kiseki isn’t specifically a spin-off of the Cold Steel sub-series. The Trails series in general is complex though so I can see how you’d make that assumption. The Trails of Cold Steel games are just a story arc in the Trails/Kiseki series. I’d even go as far as saying that the Trails/Kiseki series doesn’t really belong in the wider Legend of Heroes series (unless they somehow connect it later which wouldn’t surprise me at this point).

For those unfamiliar, Overwatch 2 is quite literally just an update to the original Overwatch. Despite being marketed as a separate game, it uses the same app and updating the original Overwatch turns it into Overwatch 2. So not necessarily delisted, just rebranded (still unfortunate though)

one game that was delisted (at least momentarily) was The Pinball Arcade, a free-to-play collection of real-world tables from real-world manufacturers like Gottlieb, Stern, Williams & Bally, featuring tables like Black Knight 2000, Terminator 2: Judgement Day, High Speed, Xenon, Doctor Who, & AC/DC. The game is still up; but all of those tables are no longer available simply due to FarSight Studios's license with Williams & Bally Tables lapsing, and AC/DC being the result of a seperate, limited-contract that was quickly signed in favor of a Kickstarter Campeign. The game was released in early April 2018, but was pulled the same day only to reappear over a month later taking a 100 table library to only 40 (which would tell you just how massive of a purge that was) with the all other versions removing their Williams/Bally libraries later in June. AC/DC was pulled from both The Pinball Arcade & the off-shoot Stern Pinball Arcade a year later.
Tables like Funhouse, Attack From Mars, Theater of Magic, & Medival Madness are still playable, only on THE OTHER free-to-play collections like Pinball FX3, and tables like The Addams Family being available on the messier reboot built on a bed of broken promises, misunderstood monetization, & a rocky port: Pinball FX. Though given Zen Studios's Rocky ride under Embracer Group and Saber Interactive; who can say how long those will last.

What happened to both Minecraft Xbox One and Nintendo switch edition has pissed me off so much! Im still furious to this day why they would kill off the better running versions of them game in favor of the crappy Bedrock Edition! What angers me the most is they killed them off before they could receive Update Aquatic and the previous consoles before that being the Wii U and Xbox 360 did get update Aquatic! Wtf!! This move by them completely killed my interest in Minecraft! I loved the console editions on both of those platforms and it makes me so angry how they left the switch and xbox edition outdated without update Aquatic and the Wii U, PS3 and Xbox 360 all get it but then update Aquatic was those consoles final update and then you know the feature where tou can transfer your worlds feom the older console to the new console? Such as Xbox 360 to Xbox one and Wii U to Switch? They completely broke that! They broke it because the Wii U and Xbox 360 which are older consoles has newer versions of the game while the newer consoles have an outdated version of the game forever! This still makes my blood boil to this day! Completely killed off Minecraft for me. I despise modern Minecraft on Bedrock. Its playing a mobile game on a console!

Should games that were replaced with a different version of the same thing count? Outside of preservation, a DX version in most cases is close enough to the original experience. But with Minecraft: Story Mode, I don't see why that couldn't be reinstated someday. How hard could it be to make a deal with the new TellTale to have it come back? As for Fire Emblem: Shadow Dragon and the Blade of Light, there's a chance we could see it added to NES Online in Fall 2025. And as for Super Mario 3D All-Stars, I still say we could see it return as part of some kind of future Nintendo Selects line.

It’s time to finally get this off my chest; whenever people say that piracy is necessary for game preservation, all my life, I’ve understood it as preserving the ACCESSIBILITY to those games. While there are some cases where some games are genuinely preserved, that’s because even the original developers and/or publishers don’t have the game anymore. For everyone else, rereleases of old games are only possible because they preserve their games on their servers, or in Square Enix’s case, they fully commit to faithfully rebuilding the game from the ground up, like they did with Kingdom Hearts for example. Look at Nintendo. They had the English version of Mother 1 and the final version of Star Fox 2 sitting in their servers for decades before finally releasing them to the public in 2015 and 2017, respectively. And Star Fox 2 is very noteworthy because despite the game being cancelled, they still wanted to finish it due to already being so close to the finish line, so they put in the finishing touches and got it fully localized, and then just left it in their archives. And for the SNES Mini, someone convinced them that it was the perfect time to finally let it see the light of day.
So who knows? If all of the games listed here are still on the servers of their developers and/or publishers, we could potentially see rereleases someday. But don’t hold your breath for the REALLY bad ones. And the ones delisted for licensing reasons.
