All of our men are voluntary, whereas most of the other countries force men and women to serve. That is the difference between the some of the countries. If you have to be forced into it they might not do their best especially if they don't want to be there. The US Motto is to protect and to serve and I am so proud of them for it.

The reason why we have 11 main aircraft carriers because it dictated by law and there is usually one Carrier in dry dock. Being refited so there will always be 10 carriers ready. The same goes for the amphibious carriers. US doctrine states the US needs to able to fight 2 wars at once.

We may not have the largest numbers of active military personnel and we may be currently low in our recruitment numbers but we have about 18 million veterans. I’m one of those veterans having served in the Marine Corps infantry- all of my veteran comrades would willingly and gladly put the uniform back on in defense of our nation. Our training is some of if not the best in the world and age doesn’t diminish what’s been ingrained.

The military of the United States defends a set of values. Freedom. Democracy. Right to Property. Right to Exist and Right to Pursuit of Happiness and Prosperity. As such, having a say in the world corresponds to defending those values. It may not have been consistent all the time throughout history, but nobody's perfect. The more critically important thing is, because the America military defends a set of values, She can call on allies and with the exception of dictatorial regimes in Russia, China, Iran, and North Korea, along with inconsequential ones like Eriteria, Yemen, North Korea, Myanmar, Cuba, Venezuela, Afghanistan, Burkina Faso etc., most countries do share similar values. And therein lies the true strength of the US military.

They have 2 million tons displacement, we have 4.6 million tons. They have ZERO sailors, we have 100% Maritime Professionals. N.K. has more tin cans that can submerge under the surface, but they have ZERO real Submarines. We have 68 Nuclear Submarines that can traverse the globe for 30 years. Russia has ZERO real soldiers, China has ZERO real soldiers, those two actually have more "clowns in costumes", India has probably half their fighting force are real soldiers and out of all of them, the only ones with any combat experience in the last 80 years are the Russians but they're only capable of fighting a war from 100 years ago with a force consisting of drug addicts, murderers, alcoholics and human trafficked conscripts.....so WE HAVE THE LARGEST MILITARY WITH THE MOST PROFESSIONAL SOLDIERS.

Just a side note , I was drafted in 69 out of college . Wound up in the paratroopers and Special Forces and National Guard all the way , call us what you want but it will be long distance. When making our last jump to qualify AirBorne I was standing on the apron waiting for the aircraft to land and pick us up all 847 in total. Three huge C- 141 jets appeared on final with long black trails of exhaust on approach to land. I ask the jump master where they came from , because most of our jumps were from C- 130 . He sad they came over from California as a training flight turn- around . That was a 2,500 mile training flight from California to Georgia . A training Flight , impressed me. My two boys and my daughter also served in the Army and are combat veterans. When my children went to war I had no fear because I knew the U.S.Army put the odds in their favor.

Largest in terms of active and reserve people in service, most likely not. If the definition is active and reserve, the US probably comes in 4th, 5th, or 6th. I'd guess that China, India, and maybe North Korea is ahead of us, and Russia may be close, but I haven't looked at any numbers, or considered how many people Russia has lost in the current conflict, so they may be less than us by around half a million now. However, there are upwards of 20 million veterans and considering there are more guns in the US than there are people, you one could argue that there are over 200 million citizens in the US that are essentially armed militia. It's just that many of those people haven't ever served in the armed forces, but many of them are very well trained in their own right.

Here's the scary part. Defense spending is only about three percent of our GDP. Now understand this fact, you and the rest of the western world sleep at peace at night because of our defense spending. Because of the protection provided by our military , Western European nations since the end of WW ll have prospered and allowed European nations to have the luxury of only having to pay for a small defense force. As for our support of NATO, we spend way MORE than all NATO members combined and it's not even close. To those Europeans who shake their heads and scoff at our defense spending, you should be thankful because without the U.S. and the umbrella of safety we provide, NATO countries would have to double, if not triple their defense budgets.

They are all serviceable... Most of the fighters are from 60 to 90% combat ready. The F35's were around 50% but they started production before they built out the maintenance facilities. Once they have finished that readiness will get to the 80% like the rest.
This isn't Russia, we don't count broken down garbage. If it's in service, it's combat ready or it's in maintenance scheduled to be combat ready once upgrades are complete.
As in, we just spent a few hundred billion to redo, retest, refit our entire nuclear deterance.
We have 450 F35's and currently 65% or ready for combat, but all of them will need to be retrofitted with the Block 3 upgrades. That will be 40 billion or so, and all 187 F22's are being upgraded to super Raptors while awaiting replacement with the new NGAD air superiority 6 gen fighters.and FA-XX Navy attack fighters each with autonomous drone wingman
And of course the B-21 Raiders are already 6th generation fighter bombers with air to air missels already added onto the super stealth planes.

Nothing was made of maybe the true best part- the covert stuff. From knowledge to weapons, none of the tech that we are allowed to be made aware of, is actually new, it's all decades old. The scary super secret stuff (and for good reason) is waaay under wraps. F-22's, Stealth Fighters/Bombers etc., were all virtually ready for retirement by the time the public is even aware of them. True story: I went up to the Abbotsford International Airshow in BC Canada back in the early 90's, to see the F-117 Nighthawk. Even then, when it had been widely known about for years, it was roped off with M-16 carrying guards patrolling it. (don't know what branch. Marines?) Had one of them come quickly up to me to tell me I wasn't allowed to take pictures from the back angle of the plane. I was more than willing to comply, but a higher ranking guy came up and quietly told him "No, it's ok now." So even a lot of the troops are unaware of disbursement of secrets. USA

Sorry, friend across the pond.....Rule America, rule across the waves! I do have to point out that some of this original video that you are commenting on is, for a family friendly term; utter claptrap.

The U.S. may not have the biggest military in the world, but it definitely has the most powerful. I’d rather be the most powerful.

Yes. I also saw the Mi-8 Hind. The Russian transport helicopter right before the Apache attack helicopter.

China is bigger in numbers, but that's about it. Same with India. Still no match for the quality/tech of the U.S. Also, as you may know, the U.S. military is all volunteer, as the others are "forced", or conscripts. You lose a LOT with 2 yr conscripts, who do not want to be there! The "average" for the U.S., in terms of service, range from 4 yrs to 12 years, with quite a lot going the full 20 yrs (like me/retired USAF).

Yes America spends a lot on the military. Combine that with you gents across the pond, all of NATO and allies in the far east, including the thunder from down under.

By law we have to maintain 11 aircraft carriers. What's the interesting to watch with Russia going after Ukraine they do not have well coordination between the ground troops and their Air Force . Are ground troops get in trouble all they have to do is Radio the Air Force and the warthogs and other jets are on their way. I don't see that with Russia they're disconnected. North Korea can have a bunch of little freaking subs and that's exactly what they are little sub with no technology. Are Ohio class submarines all carry nuclear weapons
When it comes to nuclear weapons we need to keep them out of the hands of Iran North Korea and China these three countries do not know the meaning of restraint. I don't think they comprehend the chain reaction that will happen if they send a nuclear weapon towards the United States we will all die. I don't like Russia for many reasons but at least they're not stupid enough to use nuclear weapons

The video you are reacting to was made by a person who does NOT have much actual knowledge about the US or other military's around the world. Just surface data.

There is a great video by an actual Royal Marine Commando with experiance in these exercises reacting to this: czcams.com/video/-QLuIKdMe5Y/video.html

Yeah. The narration on the video you're watching is some of the absolute worst I've ever heard. It's a pretty trash video. Plenty other good ones about the US military.
