@@chrisjohns8041 It's objectively *not* worse. Sure, it's worse than breathing clean air... but NHS found 97% harm reduction compared to smoking. Even the most laser-focused studies I recall hearing about have found, at worst, that it's "only marginally less harmful"... but I can't recall seeing much in the way of peer-reviewed literature claiming *increased* harm compared to smoking?

Amazing how far things have come - well, for manufacturers like Bosch who put so much time and effort into improving designs and offering better efficiency, better space utilization, and better technology. A 700lb cast iron boat anchor might be what some people prefer, but if my boiler isn't paying rent, why would I want it hogging a whole room? Love that sleek new Greenstar, she's a beaut! 😂 #LoveBosch #LetsGoBosch

This is one of those installs that's worth every cent they paid. well laid out, future proof and code compliant. make trades good again!
not sure how code compliant it is to connect the cold feed in to the system through the drain point on the bottom of the dirt separator. or putting a relay box right next to a big magnet.

Could have spaced the switching relay off the wall with 1 5/8" strut and run the the copper pipe behind it. But , the rest is nice.

@@PipeDoctor the heat exchangers fail,you can’t get at the pressure relief valve to change them,hydraulic block cracks pissing water all over the pcb,they even put a little green rubber cover to put over it so it doesn’t melt,they don’t even have a low water cut off switch to stop it knackering the boiler if there’s no water in them.Viessmann,baxi an valiant are far superior mate

13:15 not a good idea to bang a press or push on style coupling with stop nubs on a pipe, then back forward. why? the nubs will gouge the pipe going down and it may tear/slice the o-ring when you drive it back the other way! for copper sweat work, that's not really an issue. 😁 just something to beware of.

I am from Germany and I like your Videos. However what I do not understand: In Germany we isolate every pipe we install with 100% insulation (which means a 1" pipe gets a 1" insulation around it). This is all for energy efficiency. Did you ever think about insulate the pipes?
@@PipeDoctor So thats different. We install ALL piping containing warm or hot fluid. And usually also piping for cold water to avoid condensation. (but this is not a legal requirement). Actually when renovating heating system it is a legal requirement to install all piping connecting to heating sources (heating and domestic water)

Nice install but replacing one piece of junk with another(with all due respect to US Boiler and Bosch, it isn't their fault entirely it's the notion of super compact 95% mod-con boilers, they are finicky)? Put in a Weil-Mclain GV90 with an indirect in and they won't need to replace it for 20 years. If the Bosch makes it a decade without huge repair bills I'd be surprised. NYC area isn't a great place to install high efficiency boilers, the heating season isn't that long so the gas savings are pretty small and the headache and cost when they malfunction(which they seemingly always do) totally eats any energy savings plus the cast iron boiler lasts 1.5-2x as long so figure what the boiler and install costs(which is higher for the high efficiency units) and it's a significant cost difference. Maybe if you're in Canada, far upstate, VT, NH, etc the math favors the high efficiency boiler but in NYC and it's surrounds heating season is 3 maybe 4 months and at that really only 2 months are very cold.

Why does the east coast still use boilers, seems so expensive compared to forced air NG systems, must be all those old buildings and houses. I can get 20 plus years out of a furnace and replacement is only $3k.
