  • We wanted to experience Cabin Life in the Snow. So we head to the Off Grid Pallet Wood Cabin in Winter, which had a recent snow storm with blizzard and ice rain that came in from Siberia. We get the woodstove going, make some tea and light the candles for some hygge!
    We open up some subscriber mail sent from you guys, thank you so much to those who sent us stuff.
    This Off Grid Tiny Home was built using recycled Pallet Wood. It has been a great wilderness project which I have been doing with my Dad. It's only small, and can sleep one person. It has a woodstove, raised bed, folding table, book case, sink and wash area, front porch and small log store. It may not look like a Log Cabin, but for us it was the building part that meant the most. We used a mixture of hand tools and power tools, but our main aim was to try and save money and build the cabin for free. Thanks for joining us on this winter snow day!
    The Woodstove we use is the Gstove Heat View. They are offering my subscribers 15% off their stoves and accessories on their website: www.gstove.com/ The code is "taoutdoors"

      TA Outdoors Can't wait brother. I'm starting a "second hand camping" series in collab with some other folks, we mail eachother used second hand items, and film an over nite using the items, I'd be honored if you might consider sending anything second hand that you don't use for my upcoming video. Much love and can't wait for the next one, tell pops I said hi!

    Yes, My dog heard the whistle! I thought I was the only frugal person, straightening & reusing nail's. In the early America's, hardened steel was not easy to come by! Many times, when a family needed to move, they would burn down the house to collect the nails, take them with them to the new location & rebuild a cabin or homestead! LOVED SEEING THE STRAIGHTENING OF THE NAILS! Got a subscriber in me! I miss my Dad & wish He & I could build a cabin together! DO ENJOY!!!!!!!

    There is so much I admire about your channel. Your spirit of adventure and building off grid touches the same spirit I’ve had my entire life. Unfortunately, I never pursued that spirit, but it appears I may have to during these perilous days. You and your dad have such humorous banter, I love it. I double over laughing when you mock the traditional British politeness and traditions only because you are a proud and industrious citizen. I first admired the British when the Beatles took over the world. Over the years, I’ve spent hours reading historical accounts of many British figures, both great and others notorious. When Hollywood releases movies based on historical events or people, I do my own research to better educate myself. One movie, Master, Commander, the Far Side of the World had me reading everything I could find about the days Great Britain ruled the seas. I may be late following your page, but it has been great. Thank you and your father for sharing your lives.

    I am a newer subscriber and I am LOVING these videos. Better than anything on TV. In today's world, it's hard to find something that's not full of political rhetoric and agendas. You and your Dad have taken things back to the basics and it is awesome. We have a beer where I live called Three Floyds, wondering if you've ever sampled it, I'd like to send you some if you haven't. They come in bottles so they're probably not the best to backpack with, but they're great. Keep up the great work! Always looking forward to new videos!

    the sword is blunt toward the hilt because that's where you catch the opponents blade, by the hilt to parry to avoid as much as possible damaging the blade. being a cavalry sabre designed to stab and slash from horseback you generally don't need a full length blade as the height of the horse means all the kill action happens toward the point where the extra weight of the blade and momentum of the horse would make it a fearsome weapon. historically they would charge point first almost like a lance or spear to skewer the enemy. slashing, or more often just bludgeoning with the blade was reserved for after the initial charge, usually when the enemy were put to rout or had a broken formation. swordsmanship has always revolved around the point of the blade as the superior way to death death opposed to the edge, certainly in European swordsmanship. Asia has always favoured slashing swords over stabbing. the japanese katana for example or the scimitar.

    The sword looks like an 1897 Pattern Infantry Officers Sword, used by British Officers in the Boer Wars and first few years of World War One (maybe even all the way through WW1 by some)... the reason it is fatter at the bottom is two fold, firstly to give strength to the entire length of the blade, and secondly because that is the part of the blade you would parry with... the killing part is the sharp part, the indentation where you ran your thumb is the fuller, it stopped the sword from getting stuck in the enemies body from suction, allowing blood to flow and thus make it easy to pull the weapon from the enemies body... it doesn't look like a cavalry sword or sabre because it is so long, does not have a curved blade, it doesn't have a cavalry style hilt and the blade starts so far up the sword and not at the hilt like cavalry swords do.
    P.S another great vid, sadly I didn't manage to get out in the snow myself as i was spring cleaning the house and putting in a new bathroom :( keep the vids coming lads, always enjoyable.

      It's a myth that the fuller is for stopping suction and blood to run free the fuller was used to reduce the weight of the blade

    • @kennithobrien8104
      @kennithobrien8104 Před 6 lety

      Sorry, but that is not what a fuller is for. A fuller is for lightening the weight of the blade, but keeping it's strength up. Think of an i-beam, as a side view... H same principle.

      Their cabin has a $500.00 G stove mini wood burning stove. Do you have any idea how warm that little thing gets? In a large tent in Zero degree weather it can heat a tent.....Yes a freakin tent to 92 degrees to the point that the tent is uncomfortably warm. I wouldn't worry about some of those gaps at all. The heating bill is free man! Lol
