When you've just gotten finished disassembling some part and you're trying to put it all back together how it originally was but you're also thinking about the other car you just saw drive in the shop and making sure you stop for groceries and getting that electric bill paid and a thousand other things that go with just being an adult with a paying job (not to mention kids) it's real easy to forget routine stuff. My dad was an electrician with 30+ years in the oil field, he had to live up to insanely strict safty standards and even when working at home rarely took shortcuts, but when we worked on projects together i still frequently pointed out things like "hey maybe cutting it that way is a bad idea" or "here, before you use the dremel you forgot your safety glasses". When you have a student, they're so much more aware of the BASIC things that you're too damned smart to remember. It's why teaching is the single best way to master a craft.

I worked with my crew of cousins for 6 years on a stone masonry business owner by my mother's first cousin, and it was almost constant hell. Between the arguments and actual fist fights on the job. Crew of 8 and all of us were cousins. They still do that stuff to this day. I'll never go back to working with family. Ironically most people can walk away from a disagreement with a stranger but not a family member. It's an argument to the end between family.

She told me she's not "allowed" to get tats so she tells me her daddy (cringe) told her she can't because she to pretty and perfect, to ruin her body like that. She was 29 at the time.

Ive worked on quite a few cars with my dad. Some of my best memories is him telling me i was right about something when he was wrong because he just looked at me like he was so proud i was taking in what he was teaching me. It was a good bonding moment.

It’s because you said wire instead of cable. There’s a wiring harness for the sensor that tells you if the hood is popped open and a cable for the hood release.
As a mechanic who has had similar mishaps, I always triple check my work. this type of thing really happens much less when an extra minute or 2 is spent on a job saving hours over time.
As a dad, I too had this happen to me with a door mechanism. The wife and kids told me three times before I closed the door and locked us out of the room for the night.

I used to have to replace hood switches at Toyota that came with a safety switch that would sound the vehicle alarm system. If anyone in the shop forgot to reinstall the hood latch cable, everyone would know about it. And get a good 😂 from everyone else in the shop. This is wholesome

As a mechanic who has had similar mishaps, I always triple check my work. this type of thing really happens much less when an extra minute or 2 is spent on a job saving hours over time.

I used to have to replace hood switches at Toyota that came with a safety switch that would sound the vehicle alarm system. If anyone in the shop forgot to reinstall the hood latch cable, everyone would know about it. And get a good 😂 from everyone else in the shop. This is wholesome
