The state of mmos is heartbreaking
That's facts
so bad
I would never buy a game from China, which is the most evil regime to exist in the history of man kind. China has killed more people than Hitler and Stalin combined, and they are still killing.
the state of gaming in general is heart breaking tbh
@@a2daj83 what do you mean? There are so many good games to play.
I dont understand how people still believe Eastern Devs when they claim their game wont be P2W like obviously its gonna be monetized like crazy
Outside of ffxiv debatably, all mmorpgs have some kind of P2W . It's basically the standard at this point.
Asian MMOs can look good, but gameplay wise they are trash not worth investing time in.
Monetized like crazy ≠ P2W.... I thought that'd be an obvious thing, but I guess not....
@@ATLsF1N3ST91 as practice shows, it is the same
@@ATLsF1N3ST91 are there any Eastern MOMs that don't have really annoying p2w elements? other than FF?
Games without any prebuilt towns or NPCs really concern me. Players are a great way to enhance a game world, but it just doens't work when they have to build the entire world.
That's interesting many complain repetitive towns with ai generation.
Fallout 76 vibes 😖
It’s really difficult to coordinate large groups of people
Star Wars Galaxies did a great job with player cities/housing. Then WoW came out and rather than stay the course they completely 180*d their game and pissed off the remaining players who didn't leave for WoW. RIP
@@maofria1452fallout 76 has NPCs lol
How is Dune Awakening, a game with 1000s of people on a server "maybe not an MMO", but a bunch of looter shooters with no mention of player count, no footage of multiplayer gameplay, and barely any multiplayer features are presented as MMOs without a second thought?
He is excited by Throne and liberty, what do you expect?
There has been a lot of changes to Tarisland from the last global beta, they’ve made the best in slot gear come from dungeons/raids which can’t be traded or sold. Crafting gear can be sold or bought with gold but not BiS anymore. Basically stepping stone gear which is not a huge deal tbh. Inscriptions stones can only be earned in game and cannot be bought with gold anymore either.
It is possible he has mentioned some of these in other videos, I don't know, but there are several smaller games that have come out or are coming out soon, some of which I will list here. I make no promises that any of them are good, or will last, but if you're dying to play a new MMO, there are options. These are all classified as an MMO or what I would consider to be some type of MMO sub-genre by the developers. If you don't think they should be, take that up with someone else.
Reign of Guilds, branding itself as a classic MMORPG, just hit early access April 4th.
Sky: Children of the Light, a very casual cute puzzle-focused MMO from the creators of Journey, is coming to PC on April 10th.
Age of Water (*cough* Water World *cough*) comes to early access April 18th. It also has a demo of sorts called Age Of Water: First Voyage.
One of the OG Runescape creators is releasing a point and click MMORPG called Brighter Shores in Q3 of this year.
Untamed Isles, Lost Isle, Earth From Another Sun, and WorldShards are all "coming soon" on Steam.
Book of Travels, which the developers call a TMORPG ("Tiny"-MORPG), if following their initial release window, should be out by now.
Wayfinder, another title out in early access, should also be releasing soon if following their initial release window.
Brighter Shores also coming on 2024, hopefully!
Hyped about Dune Awakening & Pax Dei. Once Human may be cool too.
Yeah I'm interested in the same games.
Soulframe, Dune: Awakening are games im really hyped about it. I have my doubts about Throne and Liberty, but might jump in regardless.
Thanks for the video! I think "The First Descendant" should also make the list since "Once Human" and "Project LLL" are included.
Congrats on 1mil, brother. Great video, as always!
Cheers.
I love the art style of Corepunk. Also looking forward to Dune. Plan to play the beta of T&L.
Surely no one takes MMOs that are also designed for mobile seriously
I would never buy a game from China, which is the most evil regime to exist in the history of man kind. China has killed more people than Hitler and Stalin combined, and they are still killing.
instantly skipped the second I heard that lol
Sadly there are people that do 😢
Shiiiiit it’s got to be a very good MMO to be taken seriously on mobile, OS RuneScape, Adventure Quest 3D, Rucoy Online, that’s about it for me, a few other average ones, then the rest are regurgitated crap basically copy and pasting other games.
Never. not even once.
I think the world is waiting to see what the new evolution of MMO looks like. Cause so many of them are still stuck in trying to be WoW and no one wants that anymore
Honestly, this is the denial phase because live service games are the new MMOs, we just refuse to believe it. Warframe, Destiny, The Division, even Fortnite. they all scratch that itch just enough while still being casual enough.
It's far easier to imitate than to innovate. Ironically, WoW itself was really just a fulfillment of much of the promises of the original Everquest (whereas the truly innovative game was actually Star Wars: Galaxies).
The problem with MMORPGs is much the same as the issue that has infected Hollywood: investment is dominated by stodgy types who don't want to take risks. And, not really understanding the market (for films or MMORPGs), they invest in what they see as the 'safe bet,' even if, in playing it safe, they are actually directly damaging their chances of hitting it big by spawning a new IP.
Somehow, the creative world needs to claw away from this model. I'm just not sure how they're going to do this.
@@princessofthecape2078 the issue is stupid people who think every new game needs to "break the mold" which never ends well. people are a cautious sort and stick to the things they understand and are fearful of anything thats too new and unknown. MMOs need to iterate and change slowly. its proven time and time again, anything thats too out of the ordinary will fail and people fall back into the typical WoW mold at the end of the day.
I wish people would stop thinking MMOs are a sprint, instead of a marathon where the path deviates slowly over time.
exactly. WoW cant be copied tbh. Do something new, or go home.
I feel like this with the gaming industry in general. A lot of games are derivative and just take ideas from existing games with a twist here and there. I know it is unrealistic to expect innovation all the time, but the general idea of an MMO really hasn't changed much. Some Devs started to tackle more non-combat based MMO's but still feel like traditional MMO's with the combat taken out. I guess live service games are kind of what MMO's evolved to. I think the idea of MMO's are no longer novel like they used to.
I'm loving the white beard hairs! exuding wisdom, gratz on 1M!
Pax Dei is developed by Finnish company. So if they've stated that Early Access around spring, then month & half to go until turns to summer. Here's to hoping 🤞
Just heard about something interesting yesterday. EverCraft . It's basically an EverQuest inspired MMO with Minecraft style visuals. As an old-school MMO player, the idea of a return to the classic form of MMOs like EQ, DAoC, etc, is very appealing.
Thanks for letting me know about this, seems promising
Didn't they already try this about 10 years ago? I think it was EverQuest but voxel Minecraft mechanics but it got cancelled before it released.
@@Gnomesmusher Possibly. I'm not sure. As far as I'm aware EverCraft is a brand new project in very early alpha.
DAoC Could of upgraded the engine bought it back alive was good game.
@@knowitall82 I just remembered that the game I was talking about was called EverQuest Next. It had a emphasis on player building and the world was voxel based and supposedly everything was destructible. But it got cancelled. I played a very early Alpha version where you could only build stufff.
I am convinced there will never be another quality and traditional MMO that is not P2W.
Great video! What about Blade and Soul Neo?
Soulframe is currently doing testing right now. You can get into the Preludes right now if you luck out.
The First Descendant is supposed to be coming out in the next few months but it's more of a lobby based MMO in the vein of Destiny 2. They delayed by 6 months to implement feedback but who knows how it will turn out.
Based on the developer/publisher, it will likely contain some form of P2W.
Looking forward to this one, i played the beta.
What's crazy is that they're releasing it around the same time as Destiny 2: The Final Shape, the biggest expansion in Destiny history and the conclusion of its decade-long story. Not a great time to release a direct competitor 😅
@@Asian_Import I don't think it's an issue because the most dedicated dropped the expansion money already and they have too much invested to leave. I can see it pulling the people waiting on the fence or who feel burnt by Bungie. There are also people who just can't afford Bungie's bizarre pricing structure.
Their using a phone but can't communicate, sums up modern society.
Dune awakening sounds really intriguing
hope its like planetside
Nothing made by Funcom is intriguing anymore
Throne and liberty is fire!! Got into the e beat and it’s fun af! The combat is crisp and the massive PvP really fun and wild
I know it's Nexon but... Mabinogi Eternal is a thing. Despite all the p2w stuff in Mabinogi, that game holds a special place in my soul. Pretty excited to see it's UE5 remake project come to life.
Just started watching your videos best mmorpg game tester 💯
Exactly! Once Human, the supernatural multiplayer open-world survival game, Close Beta Test 3 has begun! Thanks for the attention of Force Gaming! We wish to see your exploration in the Once Human world!
Got into the closed beta for PC on Throne & Liberty starts April 10th.
When is full release though?
Thanks for the heads up on the new MMOs. Sad to say none of them really look all that appealing.
The game I am rooting for the most this year is No Rest For The Wicked. You also gave me the heads up on that one.
Most stoked for Dune MMO.
I don't trust it
So many survival games out there already.
I’m also most stoked for dune but I will say it kinda looks exactly the same as Conan
@nickb5635 becausr it's made by funcom and most likely using 90% of the mechanics from conan. Old motto. If it ain't broke don't fix it.
@doomslayerforever2858 why? Funcom is reliable. They did fine with conan exiles.
The problem with games focused on community is that there are more hackers, trolls, griefers, elitists, and otherwise awful people than there are genuinely friendly, helpful, team-focused players in the world. So, games with community/group play in mind always deteriorate because of that imbalance.
Dune, Corepunk, and Ashes of Creation
With CorePunk I agree, than maybe LoL online 2025/6... and Project LLL could be my Duna ;) ... Throne of Liberty is maybe 100% pvp... so not sure rn. We'll see. :)
Tarisland question: Is the pvp standardized? Does everybody have the same gear or does gear matter
Force your recaps and overviews are the perfect length. Appreciate your vids, hope you're doing well!
Can't wait for PaxDei
what about the First Descendant? is that still happening?
For my tastes : Dune, Ashes of Creation, Pax Dei. It is obvious any 2024 release of those three would be a rather early release, half-baked, hopefully more developed than was Conan Exiles for example. Yes, I know Ashes of C. is not aiming for 2024 at all.
Dune devs have said on discord that they are denying early access in 2024 and early access at all.. what is quite likely is an open beta before the year ends though, the game is currently in closed NDA invite only beta testing..
Once human give me The Secret World vibes. And I loved it!
Thank you so much for this content. Listened while ice plunging, and you gave me a way to power through it a bit more.
ashes of creation does look good but depends on what the story lines are like and the questing and all that and combat and how dungeons and all that work and play out and how good and rewarding exploring is
I've got an Alpha 2 key for AoC, so I'm excited for that most. Unfortunately you can no longer get A2 keys, so if you don't have one already you're out of luck.
I really dig how Dune Awakening takes a lot of visual inspiration from the recent films.
That's literally the only reason they are making it. Funcom has cool original IPs. Like Anarchy online or dreamfall. But they choose to buy up ips instead. Like Conan or now.. Dune.
@@kayfrenly5460 i dunno if original is the right word to use when describing an IP with the word fall in it...
Greedfall
Cryofall

Counterfall
Moonrise Fall
Aefen Fall

@@martinmikkelsen-yd8sn Dreamfall came long, long before all the "fall" games you just mentioned. By around 20 years. Also, having fall at the end of the title of your game has nothing to do with the intellectual property contained within the game.
Funny thing actually, the borderlands games take much of their background lore from Anarchy Online. You can see all the similarities if you've played AO.
I like that they use visuals from the book and the movie
I fell in love with MMOs in my first MMO...EQ. It was amazing. That experience sparked major excitement for the next MMO and what MMOs of the future would be. I participated in the majority of MMO betas going back to DAOC, Horizons (RIP), Anarchy Online, Age of Conan, Vanguard, WoW, ESO and countless others. One thing I have learned in all the betas and then their releases has been that MMOs were not living up to the hype or even just a basic level of expectation. Most of the betas have been a disaster and in almost all cases were a predictive sign of the final product. I think the only MMO that really delivered was WoW. The beta was flawed but good (and fun) and the release was also flawed (but fun) and it improved from there. Most of the others were either unplayable or just awful. Now on top of all that we throw in the F2P/MTX/pay for convenience, loot box garbage and I no longer even get excited for MMOs and have no desire to even play the betas. I already know what they will be like and it's not good. Certainly nothing like I imagined MMOs would be like when I was absolutely amazed in EQ and early WoW. Sad.
isn't horizons just Istaria now?
@@itatsu1 Yeah I think that is correct but it was so long ago I don't recall how it all went down. I seem to recall the original vision of Horizons never came to be but then it did get a name change in a lesser state or something. I forget the details.
Was literally thinking about something similar before checking the comments. I used to be excited for almost any MMO release back in the day meanwhile now I'm skeptical even when disinterested... Always the same questions, which I even stopped thinking about at this point, being "is it ever even going to release?", "Is it a cash grab?", "Is the company behind it going to listen to feedback and improve the game or drive it into an early grave?" and "Is it going to be a sterile, lifeless bunch of systems put together to look like a game?".
Core Punk is the one im most excited for.
After enjoying V:Rising, i would love a MMO that is Moba / V:rising style
Age of Water is meant to be out on the 18th and now is pushed out to the 25th. And meant to come out this year.
You forgot Brighter Shores from Andrew Gower the Runescape developer.
Do we have any updates on light no fire?
I know it's not your style, but I believe Brighter Shores will hit their target of Q3 2024. The game they want to release is pretty small, so I imagine it's already basically ready.
The best gameplay that i've ever experienced in a mmorpg was Blade n Soul. Pvp was hard, exclusive combo skills (can use the next only if certain conditions are met), pve was hard too, a pve where you had to move a lot, it was like you were pvping the boss.
Blue Protocol in VR would look so nice...
I dont know how long this has been out, but been having some fun with AQ 3D off of Steam...it's kinda...low stress, but still a lot to do.
I find aurcus online pretty relaxing and the player base is growing at a healthy rate.
This is why i keep going back to Baldurs 3, GW2 etc.
Have yet to find a game like classic Secret World. You needed a Phd just to do the quests.
i am a very big fan of action combat but core punk is one of my must play list for an MMO i love the moba pacing of combat im a big dota 2 player so i am a little bias on that side but still i wanna play the game up to its endgame
You should consider giving Monsters & Memories some attention. Now, it probably isn't your speed but I feel strongly is worthy of recognition as a good MMO that is on the horizon.
Why'd you say the Throne and Liberty test starts on the 14th when the text you linked shows the 10th. I'm in the test and it's the 10th for us.
If throne or liberty new server is count as new release, does albion online europe server release count the same too?
I just got into the second alpha test for pax dei
You didn't mention Reign of Guilds. New early access. Its actually really good Sandbox style MMO.
Never did like the dune series but the game looks awesome. Definitely buying
Dune is my most hyped!
But I'll also play Once Human and Corepunk definitely!
Also, 29th April the new server of Albion Online launches so i'll be busy 🥰
Throne and liberty really seems strange. For a seemingly P2W title the fact you can sell items on the auction house for that P2W currency is pretty cool actually but its a shame that the currency is there in the first place. Hopefully the gear grind doesn't become borderline impossible after a certain amount of time spent.
No mention of 2024 releases such as: The First Descendants, Kindred Fates, Perfect New World, Fera:The Sundered Tribes?
Granado Espada New Era Private Server Pretty Fun MMO!
- Mind you is a old game on pc, but still very fun!
Tarisland just looks like a modern Allodds online.
Soulframe is more suposed to be a solo game with few multi player element like crimson desert, Dune Awakening got its number of player drasticly decreased
There is " The first descendant " that should come this summer which is an MMO like warframe. But made by Nexon so we know how it will turn out
How have you skipped over Brighter Shores!?
It's been in development for the last 10 years by the creator of RuneScape, and is scheduled to release Q3 2024
I'm most excited for Corepunk, but I'm certainly skeptical. Other than that I'm really looking forward to Monsters & Memories which just recently announced their beta and release date, but we'll need to wait until early 2026 to try it out. Their progress has been incredible to watch. For a small team they're very passionate, committed, humble and hard working and have really earned trust by being very transparent with their development. I also fully agree with their philosophy of making a smaller niche game, building an audience and expanding upon it, rather than trying to build a massive game that caters to everyone. I think the Helldivers 2 studio said it best "A game for everyone is a game for noone."
lol some of these MMORPGs have been in your previous every new MMO you can play in *insert year here* for the last few years. I'm pretty sure most if not all of these MMORPGs, do not actually have publicly stated intentions to release this year. Some of them may still, but many of these will still stay in development well into 2025 and beyond.
so did you get into the Closed beta for Throne?
it's possible he was, those part of the cbt are under a nda
2025 gonna be crazy
You say this for 10 years now....
copium bro
crazy for what? Ancient MMOs that flop?
2025 Idc about mmos anymore. I'm playing GTA. Every other game will get dropped.
I will have you know 2025 will be absolutely insane but not because of gaming, there will be almost completely human looking animatronics or like robots, for various needs, finally some actual progress on hovering cars and some medical breakthroughs, and yes ofc games, but its all being held back by a year or two due to covid, woke agenda politics, and random wars around the globe. But it was originally predicted to start headway around 25 so hopefully that still happens to some extent.
and the gathering and crafting system and marketplace if it has one
i got invited to throne and liberty CBT, i will try it
Another banger, thanks Force.
when do you think light no fire will come out?
the dune game looks pretty great, wasnt really a fan of conan exiles but this looks more like a more finished polished version of what that type of game should be
he forgot to say that there is actualy boss mecanics in raids or so i think since they teach u mecanics in the start
Once Human looks pretty great, I love the inspiration and the style and the genre. The only thing that bugs me is it looks like this is 100% a rifle-shooting experience. Is that right? I personally don't like that style of combat when I'm forced into it as the only option. I still might check out the game, just sad it's like that.
I’m in on Dune man. I love Conan Exiles.
Don't forget Brighter Shores!
once human looks like the secret world
IMHO the last good Funcom game was Age of Conan, I liked the concept of The Secret World, but it didn't really pan out for me, especially PVP wise.
19:50 You gotta love when the AI thinks the best course of action is to jump in front of their cover to then slowly start aiming at you.
MMOs are coming out this year?
I am playing once human this game right now it’s very fun game to play
Very surprised Brighter Shores wasn't mentioned here, given the popularity of runescape and likelihood it will release this year
yes! i was expecting this as well, crazy he didn't mention it specially with no MTX mmo
Rather cover Tarisland a literal piece of shit mobile p2w lazy game with races that are gender and class locked
Same for new League of Legends MMO,... but yeah it's maybe 2025,6
throne and liberty gives me black desert online ptsd in the sense of enhancing your weapons
PaxDei is the one I'm most excited about. Seems more unique than the others. Also looks gorgeous. But honestly, I just wish old MMO's would remake them in UR5. EQ, City of Heroes, DaoC are all superb MMO's just suffering of old tech.
Dune looks like by far the best thing on this list.
Excited gw2 expac this year and waiting for gw3 in the future
Can't believe people still play pay to win these days 😂😂
"Once Human" is so fking incredible idea holy shet that should be game of the year
6:05 "You are thirsty"
Oh no, thats giving me survival game flashbacks. Makes me even less likely to play this game.
I think Dune will be worse with the survival mechanics and I do agree with you, but I'll try it and hope it doesn't suck because survival mechanics in a mmo are just tedious and annoying
Not every game is for everyone I’m sure they’ll be just fine without you playing it 😂
@@MoistYoghurt Well its a survival game at the base, the mmo aspects come into the later game, and server size. its not just a mmo with survival aspects.
@csahaas as I see it it's literally a mmo with survival mechanics because I feel a single player game with survival mechanics plays FAR better
@@MoistYoghurt the creative director of the game disagrees with you
Eastern MMO saying there's no P2W mechanics will be the end of the world when it happens.
Pax Dei seems like a 3d openworld version of Albion
looking forward to dune awakening
This summer is loaded with huge mmo releases I think it’s unlikely to see any of these over the summer cause throwing down with final shape dawntrail and war within all at the same time wont go well
So far Dune looks the best, however I enjoy old school style MMOs so I am looking forward to Pantheon and Monsters & Memories although they are both a few years out from now at the very least
