    Last winter I discovered I couldn't start my Cub Cadet snow blower (I had drained the gas from it at the end of the previous season but didn't run the mower until the gas was gone). I gave your approach a try and it worked like a charm! Thanks for the great idea!

    Excellent repair of a nice looking snow blower. Great advice on removing the emulsion tube. I had not seen that technique before so that gives me another option. Great job. Thanks for the videos.

    Poulan 271 8HP Snow Blower, thanks DW6, that is what I experienced yesterday and knew where the problem was, with the "main fuel jet"/ emulsion tube. The video helped me to remove & clean the jet without any removal of all the tin shrouds. Even though I received my automotive mechanic's license in 1973, followed by heavy duty and millwright tickets, You Tube clips like this beats spending hours going through manuals. Best tip, tipping the machine & removing one wheel.
    I have also installed a throttle cable, to control the engine speed under load. It's not perfect, but it gives control if the governor doesn't react quick enough or at all sometimes.

    That’s pretty slick taking the tire off to get to the carb. I have a craftsman snow I bought in 1994. Still runs like a top. Never had the carb off. I don’t have to use it every year and I always run the gas out, if I do use it. Glad I found you CZcams page to watch your videos.

    One thing seldom mentioned in these no start condition videos, is corrosion on the flywheel and magneto, usually caused when a piece of equipment is stored in an unheated garage or shed. cold temps and metal usually means condensation which causes rust. Remove the cover surrounding the pull start and look at the flywheel and the mating surface on the magneto if you see rust sand those two surfaces, sand them with sandpaper until the rust which prevents spark is removed and they the surfaces are shiny. You should now have spark at the sparkplug.

    I have to thank you for this video. I have the same blower I bought last summer. Only used once the winter before. The tank hadn't been drained properly so the darn thing wouldn't start. AFter watching you, I followed your instructions and got it running, thankfully because we just had a foot of snow. I did one thing wrong when inserting the emulsion tube tho. I put it in with the larger end first. Darn this runs tho, but I'll reinstall it with the narrow end first. Thanks again.

    my troy-bilt blower would only run well when partially choked, and that was from when i first bought it. i finally pulled the emulsion tube and found a small piece of plastic on the outside of the tube. put it back together and it has run great ever since. so this fix is definitely worth trying if your engine surges (hunts) too

    Video helped understand that some troubleshooting can be done but wasn’t clear how you tilt the blower? Did you have to drain the gas? Is there any caution to use when tilting? Other than that you made it seem it like an easy job 👍🏼. I have exact same blower. Won’t start and saw no spark on spark plug. Could you give any tip.

    I like the fix. Did you mention when inverting a snow blower you run the risk of gas leaking out? Big safety issue. And oil coming out the muffler and or fluid locking the cylinder? If they don't understand that they could hurt themselves when pull starting or damage the starter and possibly damage the connecting rod.

    unusual to see emulsion tube clogged but not the main jet.

    • @KensSmallEngineRepair
      @KensSmallEngineRepair Před 2 lety +2

      I’ve seen where people remove the main jet and clean it not realizing there is a removable emulsion tube to clean as well. Most times you have to push the emulsion tube out from the Venturi while the jet usually just falls out when unscrewed,

    • @artemdevo3161
      @artemdevo3161 Před 2 lety +3

      I don't think i've ever seen a clogged emulsion tube, since the main jet blocks all of the crap from getting to the emulsion tube in the first place

    hi , my cub cadet was running rough, once i finished the last path it slowly sputtered and backfired. Now it won't start? I have been told seafoam might help? what is your thoughts knowing you haven't seen the machine , it is only 3 years old and i have changed the oil yearly new gas each season. Thanks for any thoughts

    With a Sears snow blower brand new 26'2nd time using used stabilizer fresh gas wouldnt start, it is ridicilous that a 800$ machine should not be doing this brand new ,👍 thank you for your how to, saved me many hours of ripping the carb and all that down . After spraying starter fluid in the spark plug hole, it still would not work could only be that pin is clogged, is it just a bad design , mainly the ethanol they added in to the gas. No other machine i have does this.

    The long part that goes back into the carb falls out so quick I didn't see which end goes in first on re-assembly and you didn't show that. FAIL on your end.
