- The Sky May Be AKA The Blessed Engine, created by Doug the Eagle a long time ago in a galaxy far far away, is probably the most bizarre, surreal and incomprehensible Doom wad file I have played so far. My brain is leaking.

I am legitimately disappointed that he didn't show off the way it changes the chaingun. It becomes the Instant Discharge Cannon, one of the dumbest and best FPS weapons I've ever encountered, in that every time you pull the trigger, it fires every single bullet you have on you _simultaneously._ This will utterly destroy almost anything you point it at. XD

The BFG only works on the DOS version. The damage of the projectile is around 2 billion (the 32 digit integer +1) which causes an integer overflow every time you shoot it. It's called "the blessing cannon" and either one-shots enemies or renders them invulnerable

The Sky May Be has always kind of fascinated me. It was an anomaly of it's time, being both terrible yet also extremely advanced upon release.
I have to wonder what kind of person Doug the Eagle is to have put so much effort into something that he must have realized was bad. Even people that make dank memes are still hoping to make some people laugh at how bad they are. But The Sky May Be isn't trying to make you laugh or cry or feel any specific emotion. It just exists for the sake of existing.
This maps subverts audience expectations and is ultimately about family, and thats what’s so powerful about it

This mod is infamous, and reasonably so. It is obtuse, painful, not fun, and strange. Yet, it is also impressive from a technical standpoint. It was made for the original Doom before level editors were really a thing (there was pretty much only DEU and DoomEd), so this was ahead of its time in a number of respects.

It's basically a Terry WAD that is actually playable to a degree and doesn't exist solely for sensory offensiveness.
It predates the Terry Trap by at least a decade. This is the original troll mod.

I tried it, it ain't actually that hard once you get acquainted with the mechanics, but one zone is borderline impossible without reloading, and I actually came to think that the level is pretty much endless, although I might be wrong and I still gotta try to finish it.Like...Cheatless.
News, so... Huuuh, that mod is absolute bullshit, ironically you feel that work has been put into it, but this, is pure insanity, I can understand why Icarus hates it, my brain is facing a meltdown right now.
One part of the game was just created in order to make you loose your time. You can pretty much spend days on some areas, only to find out they are dead ends, holy shock...

Also, the creator clearly understood how to work with the Doom engine and could have created some very good levels, but made....this. Then again, maybe he did make standard levels and this was some kind of weird catharsis for him, who knows.
