    I have a Carrera subway, after 2500 miles I started getting error code 21 would switch off and on and it would be fine then it started getting more regular. Bit the bullet and very carefully took the 3 screws/bolts off there is no water resistant seal on casing, the part with the 4 sensors is sealed but there's a void where the cable comes in and the 4 wires go onto the board I cleaned the void carefully with WD-40 contact cleaner then filled the void with gorilla silicone put a small beed of silicone around the edges, and is working fine now. I think all the dirt and grease in the void when damp was causing a short. Done it all on the bike without having to remove any wires or plugs

    I noticed somebody posted a comment a couple of days ago about an E42 code fault - it appears that comment has disappeared, but I can tall you that this is a fault with the motor cable. That is the cable connecting the hub motor to the battery. Best thing to do first off is to check for any loose connections. There are microconnectors that plug into one another at the battery end which can come loose, but the most likely culprit is a loose connection where the motor and battery leads plug into one another under the HESC neoprene cover on the chainstay. HOPE THAT HELPS!

    I have the crossfire and have the same error, now and again, but it seems to clear up when I keep the bike indoors over night, so I think it may be a cold/damp problem, which is not good since I can not really store the bike in the kitchen all the time, but it don't seem to like the shed. thanks for the link

      No problem. I'd always advise keeping the battery and display unit indoors at all times. Always keep the plastic protector slid over the contacts when you remove the display unit.

    Hello again buddy,
    I cannot believe it!!!....it's been almost 4 week's since my bike broke down.
    I went out to Halford's to collect the replacement part today...and low and behold...they ordered the wrong part!!!
    Now I have to wait another week.
    I would not be so ticked off...but after several attempt's to contact them by phone not once did i get an answer.
    When i got home...I decided to have another fiddle around and that's when i realised that the tab/bracket has been installed incorrectly!!!...how it lasted so long I don't know.
    Good Grief...give me strength.

    I recently looked at a friend's ebike that has the same (looking) suntour parts shown in the thumbnail here but not the same bike. The crank, controls, display, etc are all the same. Anyways, this bike is getting the e21 code because the torque sensor on the crank got caught on something that ripped the wire out and broke off some plastic tabs. I took it apart and resoldered everthing on the sensor, and the error code went away. I want to replace the entire sensor but it seems the only ones i can find that will ship to me are the grey colored ones. One guy has the matching black one used but won't ship to me. So far, the only difference i've found in all these sensors is 4 wire vs 6 wire plug. I need a 4 wire and I see them available online. Are these gray colored ones real OEM parts made by suntour or soem garbage knockoff? My other question is, are all the "4 wire" plug torque sensors the same and should work with all these suntour HESC systems as long as the plug matches?

      The hub motor anti rotation washer on my 3 year old Crossfire broke in two 2 years ago but I wedged it back in and it worked until recently. I ordered another from halfords and it has taken just less than a month to arrive, which is not bad because their suppliers were out of stock. The point I make though is that I called in after a couple of weeks and saw a different mechanic from the very helpful one I dealt with at first. He told me that they might not be able to get the part at all but I think changed his tune when told that this was a relatively expensive halfords own make bike (not e bike) and it was unacceptable to be told that they could not supply spare parts for a 3 year old bike which was unusable without the part. Be very firm and insist halfords obtain the part. My rotation washer does not appear to be available elsewhere, being 20mm diameter and grooved round the circumference. Tell them you will take it further and complain to the Chief Exec in writing if they do not get the part for you.

    • @IceReef
      @IceReef  Před 4 lety

      WeZ Did Halfords tell you what the specs of the new model would be?
      I’d only say it would be worthwhile if they include a bigger capacity battery and somehow increase the range as it isn’t great in everyday conditions.

    • @IceReef
      @IceReef  Před 4 lety

      WeZ In answer your your initial question, the best way to protect the sensor would ideally be to have metal lugs instead of plastic, but that would be a custom build with a bit of aluminium plate or something similar. The new sensor I just got from Halfords does have a new plastic dirt guard at the bottom which is much better than the original design

They have replaced the controller, TS, and took apart the TS and ECU and found them to be full of a residue from a 'maintenance spray', they think it is the Muc off spray 94 (a bit like GT85) and advised not to use that near the bottom of the bike, just water. Going to test it today. Also to leave the battery abd controller in place covered with a rag when washing as that is a better water seal. @@freeenergy2456 Hello, sadly since then I had a number of other errors, but Halfords can get them, in fact my local store has a number in stock now! So the full story it went back as above and they took three days as they kept getting error codes, the changed the LCD head unit as well as the sensor, and the staff there were great (Durham branch) but four days after getting it back it actually went again this time with error 42! This time when I took it back they just offered me a full refund straight away and I upgraded to a Raliegh ebike with a mid drive motor. A shame really as the Crossfire was a decent bike. Keep pestering them and take it higher.

    Thanks 😊

      Hi Hatim - you can generally get them from Halfords if you call their service department. Alternatively, I would prefer looking at Ebay as there are often one or two of the same style of battery available much cheaper

      Hi - I think you will need to but the torque sensor unit. Ebay is your best option - try this listing here - www.ebay.co.uk/itm/133601950985

      Don't buy it! I've had nothing but problems with this bike since new. I've spent more money on keeping this bike running than my motorbike.

      @IceReef  Před 4 lety

      @@tangerine0072000 I would say that it is only worth getting if you can find a second hand version for a good price - be looking at around 400 if you can find anything.
      Otherwise, as stated above, the system is trying to be too clever for it's own good, and is plagued by a few glitches and build quality problems.

      You can try speaking to Suntour Europe via their website, but otherwise it will only be available from Halfords

    I did a mistake buying Carrera Crossfire E and don't recommend buying Carrera ebike or buying from Halford either. Their service is so bad and charge you more than half of the bike price when you need to replace the battery. just today they asked for £499 for battery without considering their bad ugly services fees. Their price is way higher than comparative brands and their services is just 💩. Today decided not to enter any of their stores for ever. Considering I was a great supporter and bought 3 Carrera bikes to my sons in addition to my Crossfire E
