- Mike has unlocked the flying dropkick in Dying Light 2 and nothing will be the same again. Witness, along with Jane and Andy, Mike's one-man quest to dropkick every zombie, bad human and zombie-adjacent monster in the zombified city of Villedor. Later, to amuse Jane and Andy, he crafts a modded electrified machete and admits it is nearly as good as dropkicks.

my favorite genre of let's plays is Andy and Jane watching Mike play in the most chaotic and suboptimal way possible while trying not to despair
I wish it was suboptimal play, Mike's basically griefing himself and i wouldn't have it any other way tbh, it's way too much fun seeing Andy and Jane despair while he spams drop kick in a 20+ zombie horde.

For the machete question, I remember when my history teacher covered the Rwandan genocide in high school, he was talking about how bad machetes were at keeping an edge, which just made it all the worse since it would get dull so quickly but still be used for executions...
I sometimes seek confirmation of growing up in the same era as OxBox (the nostalgia vibes are the best) and then Mike says the phrase "a zombie dosshouse" and I realise our parents are definitely from the same generation 😂

In the first game I accidentally started the dlc (on a harder difficulty) after I had all of my equipment taken during another mission. I dropkicked wave after wave until I got some replacement weapons.

machete durability: a store bought machete I had broke in the first week, while one I received when I moved to Venezuela in 200- something is still perfectly usable today.... So depends on the brand I guess?

Kazuchika Okada....Randy Orton....Hardcore Holly....Mike Channell. Some of the greatest dropkicks known to man.
So, in the first game the crafting recipe for a healing item was Gauze and Alchohol which makes some sort of sense. But in this game you just take honey and flowers and mash them together and it...magically turns into a healing bandage? I feel like Techland neglected a lot of the consistency of the internal logic in favor of smoothing out the rough edges of the gameplay. Another example, in the first game you needed Antizen to suppress the progression of the virus. While this had no practical effect on the game it DID work pretty well within the Narrative. In THIS game the GRE is basically defunct along with most of the government so its fair to say Antizen production is unfeasible so to get around that little plot issue they changed it so sunlight (uv light specifically) suppresses the virus which...okay that doesnt really make sense. It feels like they changed the lore to accommodate their new night time mechanic and left kind of a plot hole in the process.
Love their dying light videos and I just know the dying light 2 videos will be just as good if not better

To andy: animal blood is great at rusting steel, so cutting things with blood is a great way to loose the edge of a machete or loose the machete completly.
Also, bone is a REALLY bad thing to use a blade like a machete on. Huge risk of chipping the edge off it.

Per machetes: They're usually shit. They break a LOT. They're made to cut very thin grass and stalk-type plants. Now, if you swap it out with a kukri hatchet, you can use that a TON(A lot of them are made from old leaf springs these days, super hefty construction). Machete blades will break from cutting too much foliage. Kukris will happily chop people-bits off and can be ground on a rotary to sharpen them.

A standard store bought machete would not stand up for long against a human body. THey are designed for the most part to cut through thin and or dry vines, branches, and bushes. The big failure point though is the handle. A real sword has a hilt that is much more well constructed.

@@gsesquire3441 In my experience machetes tend to have really cheaply made handles, with at best, two plastic rivets holding it together. Meanwhile a proper sword not only has a full tang, but the actual grip is often glued together, and the pommel (especially if it's peened) helps a tremendous amount to keep everything tight and together.
@@gsesquire3441 True, but for finding one on the street you are far more likely to get one that is from Home Depot or Lowes or Harbor Freight than something actually resembling quality.

Based on the criteria "is a video game," I assume Dying Light 2's developer and/or publisher is owned by Microsoft. Based on the circumstance "is on PlayStation and Switch," I assume it's a recent acquisition and /future/ games will be exclusive to Microsoft.
But if it's owned by Microsoft (and - see ironclad logic above), it's on Game Pass from the moment it's released, right?
I've been living without Game Pass or Live Gold for like two weeks now, but I'm going to re-subscribe to Ultimate solely based on my /unshakable/ faith that Dying Light 2 will be available to me at no (additional) cost. "Games are owned by Microsoft" is based on outside experience, but "it's on Xbox" and "it's out" are facts I got solely from this VOD - based on the /ironclad/ "but for" test of causation, if I can't play Dying Light 2 for free (excluding Game Pass subscription) tonight, Oxbox is 100% liable for my $40 expense for 3 months of Ultimate, right?
I mean, "if I can't play it for free" is a laughable hypothetical based on the above, but I'm just saying.
I don't know if it just looks sluggish or what but I'm not wasting my money on this shit
