    Thank you for the demonstration. I'm retired (many years ago) but I think that with that profile of insert, the shavings should be curling off in a long line..or even breaking off in short lengths. The feed rate is too slow for that to happen.

    Hi
    Just watched your video on that particular insert.
    Great
    Have just placed order on eBay for 10.

    I love how well you take care of your equipment! That is an incredible cutter! I can only imagine how well it would work with cooling fluid. Thanks for showing how well it works. However I don't think I'd have the balls to use my lathe that hard. Best Wishes & Blessings. Keith Noneya

    Excellent demonstration. Looks to be a nice finish, in roughing out. As bobprice9924 mentioned, stringer/ ribbons or "Razor Wire" - not if I can make chips (9s), shinny coming off and instantly turning blue. Sorry, I have to say this....if you ever get a big bird nest of razor wire under the chuck and suddenly thrown into your face, you will understand (lesson learned over 20 yrs ago). Sort rant...manual machinist, worked both job shop and manufacturing, when I have spare time - home machining also.
    For roughing I like the cnmp 432 insert. I've taken as much as .300 roughing cut in easier machining metal, i.e. 12L14, Stressproof and 4140. Worst job I have ever had, 4 shafts - 2 bearing journals - total tolerance was .0002 - no file, no sand paper - "Turned". Got 'em done, clocked out, went to the 7-11, one 6 pack - 3 packs of smoke, gone in less than 20 min, clocked back in and the boss was laughing. Keep up the good show and tell.

    I prefer a faster feed with a shallower depth of cut. Same mmr with safer small chips.

  • @Dwarfgrinder
    @Dwarfgrinder Před 13 dny +2

    Wrong feedrate for insert. It shouldnt be making ribbons at all.

    I thread a lot of rough out of round pipe at work.
    I've found this insert works good in a MTENN, neutral, holder.
    Mostly carbon steel, but the inserts hold up well and are much cheaper than dedicated threading inserts.

    Melhor performance = Velocidade de corte, Profundidade de corte e Avanço "Adequados" para a pastilha e material a ser trabalhado. O ideal é que os cavacos sejam todos quebrados. 👍

    Ese inserto es uno de los mejores rompe virutas. Deverias buscar la velocidad y el abance adecuado para que no salgan esas horribles virutas continuas. Sigue practicando que ya aprenderás con el tiempo

    I'm a hobby machinist. I use ccmt09t304 inserts. I like to get things done quickly on the lathe at work so I usually start with a .250 depth of cut. I get blue chips. I hate the ribbons. I was told by an old machinist that the chips should never be blue, but I don't care.

    • @CoolIdeasDIY-qv1nz

    • @graemewhite5029
      @graemewhite5029 Před 20 dny +4

      The chips being blue shows the tool is working, it takes the heat generated from cutting and "transfers" it into the chip, away from the workpiece and the tool. Although in this case, I would adjust the feed rate to get the "chip-breaker" function working and avoid the long swarf.
      The guys on the Asian machining channels always annoy me with their lack of knowledge of tool geometry, producing long, bird nesting swarf, a danger to themselves with their loose clothing and the other many folk "operating" the one machine ?

    • @wtchr6883
      @wtchr6883 Před 17 dny

      Blue is the goal in steel cutting with carbide. Using high speed steel the old machinist was right.

    Baixa as rotações até saírem amareladas.
    Atenção ao ap=0,25 é relativamente baixo mas depende se usas um quebra aparas de acabamento um médio ou um de desbaste.
    Para esse ap talvez um de acabamento (PF)

  • @NickHawryliw

    At first glance it looks impressive, but the tool is only taking a couple of thou per revolution and the chip breaker is completely ineffective!. Using hand ground tools with massive chip breakers and a similar lathe, I used to remove 220 thou depth of cut, 22 thou per rev, on a 33inch diameter at 74 RPM on steel! I still have some of the tools I used to use. Carbide tips were brazed on by hand and the swarf used to curve over the tip, underscoring below the tip, wearing away the shank. It was awesome to watch!

    Inserti con R0,4 non vanno bene per sgrossare, R troppo piccolo. Avanzamento troppo basso, non rompe il truciolo, e forse (non so che materiale hai lavorato) velocità di taglio troppo alta.
