Was Forza Motorsport 5 Really That Bad?

- I remember being so excited for the game to launch, following the huge success of Forza Motorsport 4, I felt everyone was excited for this game… unfortunately, the game was not as good as we were hoping, or was it? Well today that’s what I’m going to look at and hopefully find out if Forza Motorsport 5 was actually that bad.

I am still here wondering why Microsoft never made Forza Motorsport 4 backwards compatible on Xbox One and Xbox Series X/S
Because they're don't want it or at least just add it like forza horizon 1 just by owning the disc you can play without being for sale in the store.... i remember they only had 3 licenses to bring fm4 back (dmc,Toyota,ponza) and they're already solved this licenses isuss in 2020 except for ponaz because they're don't know who the owner to purchase the licenses from him...but yeah they're too lazy to bring it back and purchase all the remaining licenses.
I'd say expired licenses is the most probable cause for no FM4.
@@JorgeAraujo97 at the launch of xone they could do it though, but we don't want to play old gen games on next gen... that's exactly what we do on current gen 🤣 horizon 5 and motorsport 7 for example.

Well the huge lack of content was its major blemish. It was really polished though
I think it is very underrated. The career mode was huge. The content missing was the amount of cars and tracks but still plenty to enjoy!

FOF Absolutely! FM4 was truly amazing. I don’t know what it was about it, but the racing and just general driving of the cars felt soooooo good! I enjoyed driving a Mini Cooper as much as any super car, great tracks, menus, career etc etc.. Totally agree, I hope hard that the next game will live up to FM4’s and indeed FM’s brilliant legacy
I’m really wish they could allow for FM2, FM3, and FM4 to be backwards compatible, but I highly doubt it’ll happen due to licensing... we can only hope.
@@imEzno my hope is that forza motorsport (forza motorsport 8) takes the formula of number 4 and brings it back. We don't need hot wheels dlc or any funny nonsense. Just bring back the amazing progression number 4 had and if they could, bring back Jeremy Clarkson for 1 more go at the autovista. Actually no, bring James may lmao that'd be sick🤣🤣
New stuff just got released for FM8, and it's not looking good.

The only annoying thing about it was how so many of the cars were dlc
I just picked up an Xbox One X the other day which included this (and some other games). This is my first experience with Forza and I’ve been blown away at how fun and absolutely gorgeous it is, not to mention a bit overwhelmed at not only the car choices but all the upgrade and tuning options. I understand it has fewer options overall than F4, but for someone like me who never played any of their previous games, having spent the last decade on a 360, it’s been wonderful so far.
Any recommendations for others in the series? I’ve seen some videos on Horizon 4 and it looks like loads of fun.
Horizon 4 is trash
Horizon 2 and 3 are my favorites still going through Horizon 5 but really good so far and Motorsport 6 and 7 were a blast. You'll need physical copies for everything but Horizon 5 since the vehicle license on all the prior titles have expired. If you still got a 360 then definitely dig up Motorsport 2 - 4 and Horizon 1 is a good game but the only title that didn't have tuning only purchasing upgrades.
I mean Jeremy with all those voiceovers what’s better. I bought this game and Xbox one only because I wanted P1 in my TopGear that I used to do. So the game has special space in my heart. Having said that 6 and 7 are obviously better so Yes please revisit them 😃
But I will always love Motorsport 5 because playing it relaxes me and years ago when I first played it, it helped me get through a bad relationship ending
Forza 5 and 6 feel like the same game but improved with updates whereas Forza 7 is downgraded with updates.

I used to be upset about the lack of content but now I’ve played Forza Motorsport 7 I appreciate the atmosphere and attention to detail that Fm7 simply didn’t have. Fm5 is still not my favorite because i love Fm4,3,2 and 6 way more but still i think this game didn’t get the love it needed
Exactly, there is something unique in this game, the atmosphere, the gameplay is great too, the music, and this gorgeous intro 🤩

Forza 5 is my favourite Forza Motorsport game, it's fvcking awesome, and having the Top Gear guys in there narrating, and the Top Gear Challenges, racing against "The Stig's Digital Cousin", playing it for the first time was incredible. Forza 5 and Horizon 2 are probably the best racing games in the Xbox One/PS4 era. I don't know why people say this game "Sucks". Nothing about Forza 5 sucks. Y'all are off your fvcking rockers. -
Forza Motorsport 4 is still one of the best in the franchise, though I really do think that 6 came close to dethroning it. I really oughta take a look back at both.

I think the gameplay was fine and it looked great, but it lacked the range of elements that made FM4 great. Car soccer, any number of laps in freeplay, choosing the individual AI cars and difficulty would've all added to the depth. Plus the menus were confusing and there were nearly as many DLC cars as base game. FM4 has unique features not yet replicated, but FM5 is objectively inferior to FM6: no unique selling points.
It was fun, just limited. I like after each race it would have the fastest times not only in the race but friends as well as world.
EDIT: Yeah they cut costs big time with the OST.
i recently started played forza 7 again n i have to say i'm really enjoying it. definitely not the best racing game but far from the worst.....online people are still cocks if collisions are turned on and you can get very liberal with the track limits

The answer to the question of this video is, yes. Forza Motorsport 4 was the peak for the Forza franchise and they should either bring back a remastered version or make sure the newest one lives up to that standard.
Edit: No Fujimi Kaido since FM4 has also been painful. That and Bernese Alps getting cut really gave me a bone to pick with Turn 10.

I didn't start playing on anything Forza until FH4 so I can't really judge.
However, watching your video illustrated one irritation about FM5. The shaky UI when you're going fast!

I only wish for most Forza Motorsport and Horizon games to come back relisted after somebody decides to work out licensing issues, just so I can get all the DLCs.

First Forza game I played and I don't remember much of it besides the amazing sound of a Dodge Viper ripping through the tunnel on the Prague map. I don't like the Motorsport games anymore because the cars feel super heavy unlike in Horizon games. So I just play the Horizon games now.

Drivertars were in the first Forza Motorsport but then the feature didnt apear in the 2nd game.... and i suppose 3rd and 4th game :D

As for Forza as a game. The Top Gear events were truly eye-roll worthy. I always wanted to see what Forza could do as a serious racing simulation.
Well FOUR was their final Swan Song on the familiar 360 hardware. While FIVE was a rushed launch title for brand new hardware.

I still think 5 had a charm of it's own. The installment that was truly clunky and devoid of any personality was 7, the reboot too.
This game was meant to be played with all the simulation parameters turned on.
I think with the existence of horizon it makes more sense to go more Sim for Forza 8.
There are no bad Forza games. It isn't as good as 6 but still solid.

Just bought this game in Dec 2021 off a private seller on Wallapop. Got the Xbox Series X last month from a scalper. I used to play on Xbox in 2005 (and a bunch of consoles before that), then PS3 in 2007 but skipped the PS4 and Xbox One generation completely (became a father of 2, no time for gaming, but kids grow up :-) ). I picked XSX over PS5 because of the Forza saga. So I have tons of catching up to do. I've just started with Forza Horizon 3, Motorsport 6 and 7, Horizon 4, now onto Forza Motorsport 5. When all this is completed, I'll crack on with FH5. My reason for buying FM5 today is the Top Gear nostalgia, my absolutely favourite car show ever. Also, it's fun to see the evolution of games from basic to more complex. I don't mind the lack of tracks and cars. It's got Spa, Nurburgring, Laguna Seca, Silverstone, Bathurst and a few more, pretty cool. 200 cars is probably 150 more than what I need. Oh, and it only cost me a fiver :-), but yeah, probably not worth 60 euros/quid/dollars.
While yes having a game that prioritizes the fun aspect is great that is exactly why the Horizon series was created, it's a chill game that places you on a world where you can do basically anything.
But heres why the next Forza Motorsport game won't be anything like FH6,5 or 4. Because GT Sport is just an Overall better experience, GT Sport is a game that actually wants you to do better and improve and thats why it has such a heavy focus on competitive multiplayer. Every time i've beaten a motorsport game i had NO REASON to return to it, because in the multiplayer modes everyone didn't know how to drive and just crashed into everything/everyone and building and racing random cars against bots became very repetitive after a week.
Motorsport 8 will have a heavy focus on accurate driving physics (but not to the extent of Assetto Corsa and Assetto Competizione or even Iracing and project cars). Like it or not GT Sport is just technically superior in almost Every aspect and thats why we'll see something like it in FM8 (Because god knows FM7 was a disgrace).
In fact, Gran Turismo 5 from 2011 is a better experience than Forza Motorsport 7 because Polyphony Digital was always attentive to extreme details in simulation and immersion, as much as i loved playing Motorsport 4 it pains me to say that the guys at Polyphony always did it better and greater than T10. (I mean just as an example Gran turismo 2 in 1999 on the playstation 1 had 650cars and 27 tracks including RALLY TRACKS while Motorsport 7 18 fucking years later has 850 cars and 33 tracks [Gt5 has like 1050 cars and 60 tracks]).
So yeah forza was fun at times but always a bit behind don't you think?
I hope Motorsport 8 will be everything i expect but if you're hoping for a "Modern age Forza Motorsport 4" It's just not going to happen, they are aiming to take back the players they lost to GT Sport.
I think I really like forza 4 and 6 way more better then 5 and 7 but I never got to play 7 but I did play for as 5 to see how its feel to simulation and it did really feel good to me I actually went online on that game its still like 6 how people crash into each other

Motorsport has lost its theme and tone. Its disingenuously pursuing the themes of gritty trackside garage cup racing. But its not that kind of game. 5 was the last time the Forza ethos really shined in the Motorsport franchise. 6 began the falloff and 7s main menu sums that game up. 4 years later and I still have no fond memories associated to that air ratchet background sound and comparatively dingy garage menu space.

Personally I think this is the best Forza motorsport game by very far like ppl complain about not enough cars but the thing is nobody gonna get all the cats anyway and I just luv the mechanics and the graphics r legit better than any current Forza game even tho it was from 2013 so I think they did an amazing job with it I also like the way they did the championships in it I liked it better than in motorsport 7 where there's just 20 different championships in each section that have nothing to do with each other

@@VintageMatthews It's not entirely open world. You can't really throw yourself at the scenery and get where you want without running into a stupid fence. Horizon 3 is vastly better, and Horizon 4 never stood a chance.
Horizon 3s car list is abysmal though. FH4 has a much better car list.

Actually, no it wasn't. What was bad was T10's DLC policy for the game. FM6 is considered better but it was the start of much of the bad stuff we saw in FM7.
Forza series started off as a good racing game no need for gimmicky garbage of F Horizons. As a matter of fact F Horizons would be a game I would want if it was a simulation game.
The only Forza game where drifting was actually challenging. Motorsport 6, 7 and especially the whole Horizon series are just too easy on that aspect.
I'm playing through this rn. It's pretty boring but not that bad. I just finished Horizon 1, so that probably doesn't help

To be honest I don't think FM5 is bad as a racing game on its own but compared to FM4 and even FM6 this game had some questionable DLCs (at least before the patch), very floaty car handling with the lack of proper feeling of weight around corners, and its slipperly as hell physics that kinda made me dislike FM5. Hopefully that Forza Motorsport (2021) will be as great as FM6 in terms of car handling and FM7 in terms of cars and tracks.

It's not as good as 4, but it's still good.
It was a fun good game and split screen with friends was a blast but they got rid of tracks I liked and I sim race now which puts any Forza game to shame.
