    What a great example of a video showing the 180 degree difference in attitude and behaviour the public can expect when in the presence of Police. One cop was refreshingly honest and forthright in approach, appeared to be genuinely interested in chatting and attempted to form a social bond, while he remained professional throughout and I am sure he was constantly threat assessing and gathering intel. The other was just an a$$hole.
    The reason why so many of his colleagues are like Cop #2 is the fundamental problem that needs investigation by anyone concerned about Police interactions with the public. I would suggest that any senior Police supervisors that are watching this video, (as I am sure they do) should consider this as a classic example of the disconnect between the Police and public. I believe Cop #2 behaved as he did simply because he could. There are no repercussions for that sort of behaviour and approach to the public, just as there is no effective training in how to be civil and interested in encountering people of all walks of life while acting as a Police Constable. There is only the hope that the Police recruit has those abilities. This is despite the almost-constant reassurance that senior Police supervisors assure us is the case and reminders that Police always remain wise and circumspect. This civility and interest in people is something that the Police appear to have abandoned in their recruiting strategies in the last 30 years in favour of perceived abilities to intimidate, threaten, force-project and carry the Police banner.
    The fact that he was wearing lethal weapons probably fed into this clown's poor personality traits and cops like this are subconsciously fed on a diet of Hollywood's ideas of how armed cops should behave, to the point where we end up with people like this. I would suggest Cop #2 should have been failed in his force's psychological assessment of his ability to carry such weapons.
    The UK is generally only a few years behind the US in terms of particular social behaviours. What happens with US Police over there is generally a guide to what may happen here in time. I hope that we never see a country where UK Police are routinely armed and allow guns to be carried by poor Police Constables such as Cop #2.

    • @jannenreuben7398
      @jannenreuben7398 Před 2 lety +3

      British police have been hugely influenced by American cop shows since the 1960s. Prior to that that era British police were extremely low key and deliberately so. You're bang on the money about the intimidation thing which I think is partially down to a big US influence. In my view another reason for it is the poor quality of modern recruits which the Police have tried to compensate for with scary looking paramilitary style uniforms and weaponry.

SAS guys would have said zilch. I know one they are deceptive. They often look pretty harmless, not huge but never mess with them, they deserve their reputation.

    I do think as a society a lot of people are extremely ignorant or unaware of what Police do.
    They are the core and lead public service which as a job role fulfil roles in all areas of Public and emergency services such as Social care (missing people, vulnerable people, children in care, troubled families, homelessness and drugs use and addiction), medical sector (attending ongoing cpr incidents, often arriving before ambulances, mental health crisis, drug overdoses and all suicides as well as Dementia), fire and rescue (first on scene to almost all severe car accidents, house/vehicle fires, persons trapped and in water as well as many others). Then they also deal with crime and attend the horrific incidents involved with that, murders, rapes, child abuse. Then also get bogged down and become a government punching bag with newly legislated crimes impossible to police as well as protests and then have to manage and secure public opinion and perception due to the pure level of scrutiny the job comes under by very nature of the role, oh and also investigate complex crime in the meantime and in between going to incidents

    You do realise good cop, bad cop had you chatting for a reason and kept you facing in a particular direction don’t you? They’d swap characters for the next group. All your photos were taken and they now know where you live. I don’t mean “West Yorkshire “. I mean, they know your house and, more than likely, all your relatives. The S.A.S. are like Santa. They know when you are sleeping, they know when you’re awake. They know when you’ve been bad or good, so be good for you’ll get slotted in your sleep. Just saying.
