    Michael Heiser you're my favorite Biblical Teacher. You're great man in my opinion. I got so sick of the secular " Bible Teachers" on the History Channel I stopped watching anything Biblical on that channel. You really helped me get away from false teachers & shows & to see The Holy Bible through the eyes of ancient Israelites. Thank you

    Imagine all the progress humans could of made if they didn’t waste so much time trying to prove an imaginary magical sky deity. Theists cannot even agree amongst themselves on the correct God among literal thousands. Can’t agree on the correct religion among hundreds or even any of the denominations, but they all hubristically believe they have the right one. Christianity alone has almost a thousand denominations and there are even 40+ current and different versions of the Bible. The Bible also condones slavery, genocide stoning unruly children, and treating women as inferior. It’s a terrible book.

      @@lycanthropegaming3432 Nice claim. Show these statistics then. I’m sure all the people slaughter during the Crusades and Inquisition would’ve beg to differ. How about all the natives murdered in South America? How about the preaching against condoms in Africa which lead to the death and suffering of millions from aids? How about the constant blurring of the liens of the separation of church and state in the America? Which God? Are you goin to say Islamic countries are better off with their God/religion? How about the people literally tortured and murdered for saying the sun revolves around the earth? Or others who disagree? Giordano Bruno was literally burned alive because he didn’t accept the same God as these “loving” Christians. How about Catholicisms open alliance with Nazi Germany and other fascist countries? How about anti-semitism being an official doctrine of the church until 1964, we’ll after the horrors of the Holocaust. How about mother Teresa who got billions of donations and yet barely helped people at all. She thought suffering would bring you closer to god. How about all the people killed who simply believe a different denomination of Christianity? This God you speak of, is the God of the Bible. The one who condones slavery, genocide, stoning of unruly children, and treating women as inferior. Is it just A god or do things get better believing in multiple gods? Just your god? Please provide this statistic that things are always better with a God?

    Two points should be made:
    Firstly, it is logically invalid to use the Bible to prove the Bible. Whatever may be written in a book it cannot be used to show the book is true, or else the Quran is true and the final word of God because it says so repeatedly.
    Secondly, what is offered here is merely opinion. In describing how God directed the lives of Bible authors in order that they may write what was required, he is not speaking factually or even truthfully, he is simply expressing his personal religious belief, which is the same as an opinion.
    Everyone has the right to their own beliefs but it is important to accept that faith and fact are not the same and belief is not knowledge. Saying "I believe X" is perfectly valid and no-one has the right to deny a person's beliefs but to say "I know X" is not, unless evidence exists to support the claim.

    • @beecee3161
      @beecee3161 Před rokem

      You do understand the Bible is not a book right?
      You ever ask yourself why do high level scholars not use such a simple logic argument that you proposed? 🤪

    • @Outspoken.Humanist
      @Outspoken.Humanist Před rokem +1

      @@beecee3161 The Bible is not a book? Really? Then what is it?
      I will accept a collection of unrelated documents compiled into a book but never intended for that purpose but even then we have evidence from manuscripts that what we read today was edited and changed to make it seem like a single work. And the point remains that it is illogical to prove the validity of a book (or a collection of documents), by quoting something from it.
      I'm pleased to see that you accept my argument to be simple logic. That being so, I'm not sure how you refute it. And I note that you haven't actually offered any refutation.
      I would also say that the argument is not mine but is so widespread it might be termed a truism.

    • @yungspaghetti1685
      @yungspaghetti1685 Před rokem +2

      Your comment is based on assumptions that aren't there. You say that it is illogical to prove the Bible using the Bible but this video is not about proving the Bible, so who are you arguing with ? Same for your second point. You are in a video made by a christian to a christian audience based on the mutual belief in a common material, this wasn't about proving the Bible so you are essentially making up a point that nobody made and arguing against it even though it's not the subject at all. Who are you arguing with ???

    • @Outspoken.Humanist
      @Outspoken.Humanist Před rokem

      @@yungspaghetti1685 I find it strange that you need me to explain. I am happy to do so but it will run on a little. Whether you read what follows depends on whether you really want to learn or if no information can change your mind about anything.
      The video is about the supposed divine origin of the Bible and it uses a quote from the Bible to substantiate its claim. Moreover, the speakers claims to know that the authors of the Bible were prepared by God through their lives to be ready to write it.
      The first thing to understand is that before the Bible may be used to support anything, be it history, its own divine origins or even the existence of God, it is necessary first to prove the Bible is either the inerrant word of God or, in this case, directly inspired by God because God prepared the authors.
      If that point is proven, then everything written therein is factual and may be taken as evidence. If, however, that point is not proven, then nothing written therein can be known to be factual and cannot therefore be used to support anything.
      Following on from that, it should be clear to everyone that it is not possible to prove the Bible is the word of God. It may be believed sincerely but it cannot be proven.
      Therefore, nothing in the Bible is valid evidence of its divine origin.
      The second point and the most relevant here, is that the speaker does not know anything about the various authors of the Bible. Nothing.
      He makes a statement that these authors were prepared by God throughout their lives to be ready to write what God inspired them to write but what he is offering is not fact, it is religious belief or opinion.
      To pretend to know something which one cannot know is to lie.
      To pretend that one's beliefs are facts, is to lie.
      Please understand, that does not necessarily mean your beliefs are false, only that they are beliefs and not facts.
      Or, to put it another way, if we absolutely knew God was real, belief would be unnecessary. It would be like asking someone of they 'believe' in their car.
      But, as I mentioned previously, if we follow the logic of the video and accept without question that the biblical authors were divinely inspired, it is impossible to argue against identical claims made by followers of other religions.
      If the assertion that the Bible's authors were divinely inspired is to be simply accepted, without evidence, then there is no reason not to accept that the Quran was dictated to Mohammed and is also the word of God,. Indeed, the more recent and therefore more likely to be true word of God. I presume that you do not believe that any more than I do.
      I hope that is clear and you now understand that I am not the one making assumptions.
      Have a good one.

    Wow cancer can really be tough on a person, pray for Mr. Heiser and what his body is going through, also pray for Mr. Heiser on his false teaching of Psalm 82 about the "gods/elohim" which he has tought they are non human a divine council of super angels. Heiser is totally unaware his teaching is false and really no need to try to attempt to answer who the "gods/elohim" are in Psalm 82.....Reason why is that Jesus has already answered the question in John 10 who the "gods/elohim" are in Psalm 82, Heiser's book the unseen realm is a false read. The "gods/elohim" of the divine council in Psalm 82 are Human, not a bunch of non human super angels like Heiser teaches.....Heiser misleads so many on this chapter and actually is attempt to over throw Jesus's answer.
    Jesus has Ownership to the answer of the "gods/elohim" of Psalm 82 in John 10, Jesus answers the question long before Heiser was even born.
