Alright so, one of the devs of Bring Your Own Class here, Gary is in fact wearing a hat and a tie, but I must admit that it does look like a small Doomguy from behind. Also Devil Marine does not get health nor armor from the usual pickups since those give him ammo, but he can in fact heal and protect himself by hitting enemies with his weapons. Also I really like this format in order to present each and every class from our mod.
Smol Doomguy riding piggyback on an Archvile was my first instinct, I have a strange mind. It's been fun trying to squeeze as much info as I can manage into a minute at a time.
would love to see one of the girls from Totally Spies as a Doom class, having one of them killing demons with gadgets they had from the show would be really awesome and could actually adapt well into a boomer shooter loadout like the Exploding Lipstick or the Buzzsaw Wristwatch. tons of potential with their arsenal and skills i'd make it myself as its own mod but i can't code for shit

Devil marine is honestly one of the most fun standardized characters. That 12 gauge is the most fun rifle ive ever used, the hellfire launcher providing a regen boost is very good for combos, the chaingun is ludicrously powerful for cheap sustain damage, the super shotty burst is hella useful for rooms with seperate clusters of enemies, and the game forcing you to kill for health is something i appreciate after having played ultrakill recently.
Overall I like this approach to adapting the Shorts into an actual full video, reminds me how Kostamoinen's Yakuspy was reshot at different angles and actor placements between the full video and Shorts versions The separate Shorts do slot in surprisingly well, I can tell that the script was written with this edit in mind, The only thing I'd change for these comps is to replace the stock BYOC intro that plays at the beginning of each Short with something more relevant for the class in question. (Like gameplay footage or even a rotation of the class sprite)
the Katana in JPCP weapons set (FinalDoomer mod) can destroy enemy projectiles... and when fully boosted it can down Archviles in 3 hits... melee-only runs are finally possible now... Revenants go down in a single sword slash... what a joyful blissful life
Yes, shorts suck ass and I use an addon to actively remove them from CZcams as though they aren't there. Thank you for uploading this or I'd have never seen it.
This is the kind of fun crazy I would love to bring into Doom! Thank for sharing this and making this long series. I will undoubtedly try this sometime soon!
Is that the Quake 3 pain/hit confirm sound effect? I've always hated that sound effect.... Mod looks interesting though! Not gonna watch the shorts, so I'm glad youre doing compilations of them.
I have a question for this. The vanilla package is good so far, but I wanna play with more mods. Maps, enemies, etc. Any easy way to do that? Like is it possible to do so from ZDL? Or is it only through stuff like Doomseeker?
If you're talking about classic Samsara, it already came out years ago. But I'm sure that you're talking about Samsara Reincarnation. That mod is also already out but apparently an update for it should be coming soon. Samsara R and Bring Your Own Class are really different. One of the main differences is that Samsara contains only classes from old-school FPS, while BYOC has a mix of existing characters and OCs. But you'll only see that in at least one or two weeks since I feel like that Icarus will go through each class in order. And next are characters from videogames.
okay this mod is AWESOME but setting this up was a fucking pain, i had to install the newest GZDoom version. port my saves into it (not that bad) then they made it a Microsoft Edge document that i HAD to use Microsoft Edge to open (i hate Edge) still struggling to make this mod work since they said on the website you need GZDoom v1.11, got that and then going through the PDF i find you actually need Zandronum which i get is for Co Op and Online play but HOLY FUCK do i hate that Source port, just because it uses online doesn't mean its that great. yes its built off GZDoom but its a FAR older version and looks like shit.... still a fantastic mod though! Ash, Homer and Heavy are all characters i've wanted redone with this amount of love, yeah it sucks its only for Zandronum as of right now but there is one character i would LOVE to see a Doom class of, one of the girls from Totally Spies with weapons made off the gadgets from the first 6 seasons and the movie. THAT would be a really fun class

Its a hit sound you can toggle in the menu, you have more options for hitsounds (and killsounds)

so this mod is made for zandronum mainly, theres a gzdoom version and CC should work, but the gzdoom version wont be updated as frequently,
