The sage advice of working smarter not harder is always a good lesson learned at any age! We have all been there my friend and the trusty advil helps our 60+ working years recover.
Cheers
I’m 45 yr old, very tall, big and strong. The first thing I bought before I started really getting into firewood was a pickeroon. I was splitting wood once or twice a year, up until his Spring. Before I started processing firewood as a business,…I purchased two log tongs and a log cant. They have made a huge difference for me. My back is never sore at the end of the day. I even use my tongs to pick up 4-6 inch rounds, lol. Sometimes it takes longer to work smarter. But at the end of the day, you feel so much better.
✌️😜 Always informative for greenhorns, & a good laugh to make one's "problems" seem insignificant for the moment 🤣🇨🇦 Thanks Brother 💒⚔️ God Bless us All 🇺🇸🙏✝️
Gordon, have you ever given any thought to making a video like a round table discussion with the guys? Talk about their careers, stories about working in the forest meeting each other for the first time, things like that. If you already have done this, please point me to the video. Just like to know more about you all. Thanks, Tom
Good morning Tom. We have a few times talked about it - but generally, they are pretty private fellas. Took me quite a while to get them on video. LOL. But thanks - they both have very interesting lives, no doubt. Maybe I'll be able to talk them into it one day. Cheers!
Learning more and more as I get older, wearing back brace while mowing and cutting snaller sections over multiple days. I want to continue for as long as I can so working smarter is mandatory. So it takes me longer, I am only on my own clock.
Strong constructive suggestion for you:
- Those big propane tanks would have their inner liquid fuel boil and explode in a forest fire.
- You MUST clear the brush and trees around them.
Marc from Montreal, Canada.
Good morning and thanks Marc. How far back should I clear them? Thanks
@@GPOutdoors I am not competent to answer your very good question. Perhaps a call to the local fire station would provide a number you can trust. They have access to engineers who can do the math.
@@pirateracer69The majority of our tanks are buried partially for that reason. It’s not mandatory, but it is recommended.
Watching you Baja the Kubota on the woods trail was enough to make my back hurt!😢
Back pain is awful and can completely change a person...
Take care of yourself, and hopefully, the paperwork fiasco doesn't cost you too much in the wallet!👍
Thanks Wayne - have a great weekend!
Boy did this video hit home! 🤣
Gord, I feel your pain. Keep up the great videos
Great video Gordon. I use my tractor for everything now. Some call me lazy but at the end of the day we all say that was smart
Morning James. Yup, me too. That tractor is a life saver and money saver too. Cheers!
you sir are definitly not lazy . you do more than most . good luck with the paper . god bless main thing we wish you good health .
Thanks kindly George. I appreciate your kind support - wish you and yours all the very best!
Bucking up wood in the Vast Canadian forest. The outdoor excersize by the lake, and smells of fresh hewen lumber with the sounds of the wind blowing through the trees is almost surreal.
I still split wood the old fashion way, the way my Father did and his Father did, but I certainly appreciate your way. 👍🤷♂️
U r not lazy in the least when cranking out fine y.t. videos.
I am pretty aware of the time ,effort and patience it requires to achieve the quality preservation that you offer.
It's appreciated.
( I was wondering about your back condition, just four days ago but I didn't want to jinx you by mentioning it)
Great video Gord, sorry to hear you had a Senior Moment with the papers on the floor. Hope you can remedy the problem getting the numbers back in order??? Great job on the lesson learned about using the tools you need to use since you have them on hand. It's hard to learn all these lessons at once but you'll do fine. The Easton 2024 model sure is a fine machine for a small work crew too, you really showed the Splitter off great today, especially the swinging motion on the conveyor belt. It turned out to be a great day for you. Carol sure did a great job trying to save all the water damages to your Boo Boo. Stay safe and have a great week. Fred.
Yep. Been down that road too Firewooding. My 24yr old brain tells my 66yr old body “you can do it “.
Then I have a day like yours. Lol
Good Evening GP 🙏😇👍Keep Moving Moving Moving🤣👍I'm so sorry about your basement flooding 😢Yes Use The Right Tools For Helping You 🙏😇 GP, You should talk about working using some medications that might change your alertness 🧐👍Be Well GP 🙏😇 Cheers 🍻
Morning Dave!
Tanks again Gord for your entertainment and your advices. Sorry for your papers 📄. Be blessed.🌸. From Mirabel Qc. 🌸✨🤚🏼
Oops! Sorry JP, I was commentating on another video. But yours was good also. ☺️🤭👍🇨🇦🙏
LOL! Thanks :)
The efficiency of modern splitters is impressive compared to using an axe.
Gord, nice work Splitting those Maple Rounds. Good Trailer full in no time. Same thing here with my Back, thru it out a Few months ago and was down for about 1week. To Hot and Humid out for doing any Cutting now, but hoping to get at it in the next Week or so. Keep the Advil on hand. I do all my Splitting by Hand with a Fiskers Axe and a new addition of a Fiskers Hookaroon. It's been a Hot and Humid Summer so far, just waiting for it to break. Stay Safe, take care of your Back and see you at the next Video. Ron from the Woodyard in Duanesburg NY.
Morning Ron - axe work is tough - wow. But yes crazy humidity - very happy to have that umbrella over the axis. Have a nice weekend and all the best to you Ron!
First of all, thank you so much. You are wholly responsible for me choosing an LX. I would love a video or close up pictures of how your rear cab lights were installed.
Good morning and happy if it helped. Do you mean the rear work lights on the outside of the top of the cab?
Just love it when I get down in my back. Not. I hate it. I know what you mean about putting things off. I'm guilty of that. And I know what you mean about working smarter not harder. There's always a around things
Good vid
👍great video
You call him The "Little Guy" ,
I call it my angel energy,
I believe that those that have passed on before us are watching out over us and sending their energy our way.
Their perspective is shared for our benefit.
Someone you cared a great deal about in this celestial existence is still communicating with you for your benefit.
As long as you acknowledge them they will be there for you.
Thank them on a regular basis through momentary prayer.
And you might start finding coins.
( Where you might not expect them )
Best wishes for a healthy successful existence. . . . Here. / Now
Howdy Gord
Yup… I really kick myself when I don’t listen to that smart guy talking to me and I think. Naaaaa I don’t need to do that.. It will be Just fine… hahaha
And yes I have a very intimate relationship with that bottle of Advil… Most of the time it is because I don’t listen to that voice… Gus you are not 25 anymore.. hahaha
Thanks for reminding all of us to listen to the voice..
Cheers my friend…
LOL! so true - cheers Gus!
Take care of that back GP. 😓
Gordon, have you had any chances of playing with the idle down feature yet?
I have this valve on my grease gun and works perfectly. I’ll have to buy one for compressor to inflate my tires. Excellent product.
The little GP on your shoulder needs a louder voice, we all ignore that voice and pay the price later, a few stretches before manual work helps - oh wait, I hear that voice and ignore it so we are all alike, my meds is a mixture of hops, malt, yeast and water. Cheers and have a great weekend healing up.
Will there be another video next week Friday
Back issues? More opportunity for you and your Mrs. to 'communicate'. Of course, things like that never happen around here.
LOL! No comment. :)))
Good one.
How young is Gordon?
I'm turning 60 this year - still young - LOL! I feel like my back is turning 80 though. :))
