    Thanks so much for the video! I cut 5 panels as you demonstrated and it worked great! Appreciate all of the tips. When you mentioned the dust, I cut mine outside in the garage.

    Thanks so much! Your method worked the first time I tried. In the past I have cracked and shattered plexiglass. I gave up until I came across your video. Thanks!

    I like how you trimmed the sheet, clever and doable method for all of us w/o a tablesaw.

    So glad to know others have the same bad luck I’ve had trying to cut these things! I have a Dremel and will give this a try.

    They're called: "Acrylic Prismatic Sheets/Lighting Panels." And it may be easier to cut with the "smooth side" up (bumpy side down). I'm liking your "tape the line" trick, though. Nice job! 👍

    I’m replacing Mom’s fixture in the kitchen and this is the first video that I have the tools for. Wish me luck, Home Depot only had a couple of these left and they were cracked on one end so i got them half price and I can’t mess up.

    An oscillating/multitool works great!

    The carbide cutters they make for this work very well with a straight edge. you draw it across the plastic as if you are drawing a line! with some pressure it scores it faster than using a saw . snaps clean!!

    Awesome. I saw the previous suggestion - using a table saw...and that seemed to complicated for me. But I have the Dremel. Not sure if I have the blades...maybe you can do a close-up showing the blade types? Thanks!!

    • @MacFizzer
      @MacFizzer  Před 4 lety

      Robert Henry Pike if I can remember, I think I used the thinnest blade. I was in hurry because I was moving but not finding a good way to cut them on you tube I thought my video would help someone. But I’m sure I used the blade with the finest teeth.

    It is called a lighting diffuser. There are several videos out there plus if you go to the manufacturer of your diffuser material...they will have installation instructions which includes cutting to fit.

      @MacFizzer  Před 4 lety +1

      I was moving at the time, and did not have time locate the manufacturer of the light diffuser material. Besides I think they are located out of state. And since Home Depot doesn’t cut it for you, I needed to find a quick and clean way of doing it.

  • @yamerojones
    @yamerojones Před 7 lety

    Yea they suggest using an utility knife, but the pressure required creates cracks in no time, dremel is definitely the way.

    lol...no offense but you have a line and you go off from it constantly. You should use some guide. This is how NOT to cut.
