Been watching since baba's keep up the good content I love puzzling and platformers so it's cool too see the combination again
Such a fun game. It's short and sweet, and not too challenging. I did look up where the last couple of gold cartridges were, and when I saw where they were, the solution to them hit me like a ton of bricks. It always cleverly hinted at where they were, and every single one used some mechanic that was used in a puzzle. That's just great. As for my high score in that challenge, I've gotten to 37. Anything higher than that is really a stretch.
I got to 38 BARELY. I threw my head and the hotbox hit like a millisecond before the countdown stopped.

Highscore of 47, matched that a few times. Was trying to grind to 50, but found that minigame is pretty rng demanding, even with showing you what's coming up next. Good patterns + good head throws and as little time going left/right as possible I found to be key in breaking 40+
Maybe the god run would allow for 50+...

Tyler really loves saying 'yeet'. It is indeed a word that rolls of the tongue.
I almost want to see someone combine this with Fez/Feztal. Maybe throw in some of Celeste's movement mechanics as well, like wall grabs and dashing. This game, plus Fez's 3d mechanics, plus Celeste's movement mechanics, and portals as an interesting twist, could make for a very, very good game. Though, personally, I'd remove the countdown when the head is separate, there's really no use for it other than a death mechanic, plus removing the timer could open up more possibilities for more complex puzzles, especially if a portal mechanic is involved in any way; the only real mechanic where the countdown is relevant is the '6' puzzle, but honestly someone could just count instead of forcing this mechanic. Personally, I'd even swap out the head removal mechanic for some kind of tether, it'd make puzzles more complex if you have multiple tethers that you have to interact with, for example having an activation sequence of 3-1-2-4 but a deactivation sequence of 2-3-1-4 would make for a more complex platforming puzzle, rather than just 'throw head and jump' with some checkpoint abuse thrown in; combine this with Celeste-like movement, Fez-like view manipulation, maybe some portal-like mechanics, and you start getting some very complex puzzles that you would expect from a larger non-indie studio.
I've always liked the idea of indie game mashups, each game on it's own has a simple set of base mechanics, but combined they can create a very complex game. I have the same thoughts about AAA games as well, combining mechanics is how we got games/series like Ratchet and Clank, a lightweight shooter that also has competent platforming, with some other genres mixed into it. Genre and mechanic mixing should honestly be used more often, for example Feztal is a very competent concept, the game just needs expanded on as the current state of it feels more like a tech demo. There's potential to be had when mechanic and genre mixing is considered, it's easier to conceptualize new ideas when the groundwork already exists; it's how you have singular games become the definition of a genre, Rogue and the roguelike genre for example.
Underrated comment right here.
I love how this game uses previously established concepts to teach new mechanics. For example, in one of the levels you use mechanics you are already familiar with to discover a new concept: throwing your head into a platform so it can fall back to you later. In a later level, you use this same concept to discover a new mechanic/interaction: stepping in a checkpoint resets the level, but not your character.

I really how the checkpoint is utilised in the puzzles themselves as more of a hindrance in some cases

As someone who likes platformer games, if they have an item collection system, I'm inclined to try and 100% the game since it feels so nice to have all the hidden items in a level

In a previous video I mentioned a puzzle game I played as a kid. Elechead is reminding me of another puzzle game I played as a kid: Cloning Clyde. It’s technically a puzzle platformer but it is more of a platformer than a puzzle game. Regardless, it’s a ton of fun to play because it’s so goofy. Might be worth checking out.

That minigame legitimately looks sick what on earth
The platforms that retract have gears and the pipe thing has lines which you find on a screw.
Lifts that retract have corkscrew bar; lifts that don't have solid bar.
I feel like the puzzles in this game are less difficult, but more fun than in other games that Tyler plays.

It is only chapter 5 and the platforming seems somewhat difficult. I hope later chapters in the full game doesn't require frame perfect inputs or long stretches without checkpoints.
You should play super auto pets. Since you liked Luck Be a Landlord I think you might like it. It’s a simple deck builder but you can get some really cool synergies out of it

Not yet watching this video, and it may be the next video. Tyler will be short at least one if not two of the extra objectives I know I saw at least two possible spots for those remotes while he was playing through. Not hating I just wished he slowed down sometimes and sped up at others.
