I've met Beatrice Rana briefly when I was in a master class she gave. She roasted the hell out of me lol. I was still in awe of being in the presence of a truly world class pianist.

Ms Rana is a phenomenal, and strangely underpromoted, artist. I heard her play this suite in recital; it was a magical, unforgettable experience.

10:41 I don't think I've ever heard this section played with such gentle, resplendent subtlety! This is now up there with the Laplante and Bavouzet recordings as my favorite interpretations of Une barque sur l'océan. I could listen to Rana's mind-meltingly gorgeous playing of this section all day 😍😍

Very well professionally executed performance. Great control , touch , colors. There are many beautiful moments in her playing.
Yet, I'd often catch myself thinking that some of Ms. Rana's phrasing, rubato and dynamics choices were absolutely foreign to the pieces. They were so exaggeratedly presented that it felt like I am not listening an "impressionism" but rather an "expressionism".
In my modest opinion there's no better performance of this cycle than Richter's live recording of his recital in Prague in 1965.

It is not only technical in Beatrice, there is a warmth there, a desire that you feel human and close to musical art, I do not know with which other artists the concept of Beatrice Rana would be identifiable, perhaps with Rostropovich? At least he's my favorite pianist right now.

Horrible version...Is she suddenly losing her mind like Pogorelich? How can she compare her psychedelic "readings" to Lortie 's or Laplante or to the Great Richter...? And she had this level of talent! Truly this appears to me as a messy à la 'Yuja Wang show-off session" avec la robe... with the infantile disastrous eccentric "attempt" to do "otherwise"... Erreur d'achat que je regretterai longtemps.

I'm not wild about it either but I wouldn't call it horrible. Ravel is all about melody (he said so himself) and in this interpretation the melody is often lost. It also makes it sound like Stravinsky.
