- Welcome to another episode of Trailmakers! Today I am trying to break the sound barrier using only party balloons! I did it with the much more powerful inflatable balloons, but these ones are not only weaker but much more difficult to build around. Will it work?

About Trailmakers:
In the toughest motoring expedition in the universe, you and your friends will build your own vehicles to cross a dangerous wasteland. Explore, crash horribly, use your wits to build a better rig, and get as far as you can with whatever spare parts you find on your way.
Welcome to the Ultimate Expedition!
Journey over grueling mountains, hazardous swamps, and bone-dry deserts on a distant world far from civilization - it is just you, your fellow adventurers and the amazing, jet-powered hover-buggy you built yourself. Explore, crash your vehicle, build a better one, and get as far as you can with whatever spare parts you find along your way.
Trailmakers is about building very awesome vehicles and machines, but you don’t need an engineering degree to get started. The intuitive builder will get you going in no time. Everything you build is made from physical building blocks. Each block has unique features like shape, weight and functionality. They can be broken off, refitted and used to build something new. Individually the blocks are fairly simple, but combined the possibilities are endless.
Expedition Mode is the challenging campaign mode of Trailmakers. You are competing in an off-world rally expedition with only a few building blocks to get you started. You must build, tinker with and rebuild your machine to progress. Journey through a big world, overcome deep gorges, angry wildlife and dangerous weather to progress and find new parts that will juice up your machine. The world in Expedition Mode will test your survival skills and ingenuity.
Sandbox Mode is where you want to head for an unrestricted, sandbox, vehicle-building experience. Here you can build anything you can dream of, and play around with it in the world of Trailmakers. It is a great place to test out crazy machines, and experiment with the physics engine. With tons of different blocks, hinges, thrusters and interactive vehicle parts - the skybox is the limit.
Trailmakers is even more fun if you play it with other people. Build cool vehicles and compete in mini-game modes with your friends or other Trailmakers online. Build a helicopter, send it to your friend, and shoot them out of the sky. Put two seats on a tank, and let your friend control the turret. As we get further in Early Access development Expedition Mode will also be adapted to multiplayer.

KAN spends a hole video on breaking the sound barrier by falling and Scrapman does without even trying.
You just skipped to the end??
come on man!!
Whole*
Bro I said the exact same thing to myself 😂

And it took so long for kAN to reach the sky ceiling each time xD
Just so you all know, the reason he was able to break the sound barrier by falling in the seat at the end is because when the blocks that were in front of the seat got destroyed, that removed all air drag and resistance from in front of the seat. trailmakers just works like that. it's also the way that the zero drag glitch works in trailmakers, if you put detachable blocks in front of points of drag and have the detach when the creation spawns in, all drag is removed from those areas.
I want to try that on a drag racer
Wondered how zero drag glitches worked, no wonder when one spawns a whole lot of sparks appear. It's so simple to be a glitch too, actually the ufo hover glitch is also simple now that I thought of it lol
Ah, so basically the drag values are only calculated once at creation/reset, and if a block is destroyed or removed during play the drag will not be newly calculated for the now exposed part. Am i understanding the zero drag glitch correctly?
@@TheVerendus correct
and bcause the new update with crash pyichs
Kan: I can break the sound barrier by falling
Scrapman: Hold my suspension mug
Did it with 17 Scrap!!! U were right! Single row, brackets and rounded inverted corners (+ 1 pipe in each layer) for connections, and a spinning top made of 4x1 wedges 👍 16 went really close too
Wai what? O-o like cross of bloons?
I guessed 48 and it happeend. BTW i calculated in my head
Scrapman, I have been watching you since I made this channel. I love your videos so much, and they brighten up my day. I love your scrapmechanic role play series, instruments of destruction videos, and the trailblazers campaign. I have and will continue to be a fan of 8 years. You are incredibly close to 1 million subscribers, and I cannot wait for the day when you reach that legendary milestone.

What? I haven't used the party balloon to build anything yet because I assumed they'll go straight upwards no matter in which direction they're installed. So I'm surprised to find out in this video that they'll just stay rigid on any installed direction.
The reason I didn't use it is that I don't want all my creations to look like the house from the movie Up. Now that it work like this, it starts to feel interesting. I can use it for lift like a lighter version of gimbal. Still have to cover them up to look good though, I hope they just change the design to look more like a serious part of a vehicle, similar to the boyancy blocks.
Speaking of which, the balloon has a very unique feature that it provide lift and boyancy both in air and water. When you build a amphibious vehicle, that cuts away a lot of weight. It'll be perfect for building a flying-submarine aircraft to travel in the high seas map.
it would be nice if they made the balloons more colorful so that it is a party balloon. we can put decals at least.
the balloons can be painted any color. Scrapman's theme is red, so by default, any pieces he spawns in are red with black as a secondary color, including balloons.
I bought trailmakers recently and it has been super fun in campaign mode and playing alongside your videos! I managed to get supersonic with only 21 balloons, which is super close to your initial prediction of 17. You probably won't see this, but I love your videos and I can't wait for Multiplayer Monday tomorrow!
how did you do it with only 21? did you use glitches?
@@wandrappel no glitches, but you need to save all the weight possible, and have them stacked instead of side by side. His first design was very close to my model.
the fact that kan spent so long trying to break the sound barrier with gravity and scrapman accidentaly does it is so funny
i think what happened was technically under the glitch category
@Glub_blub no, just happened to see another video at the time that talked about the glitch with some builds
So many CZcamsrs playing trail makers trying to break the sound barrier
I really hope the balloon pops with such intensive noise it wakes everybody up
if you use the chrome bumper pieces from the decorative section they have no aerodynamics i've discovered
also theres the 2 by 1 by 1 cone now
i love that scrapman used logic to make the balloon inflate in the beginning when there is a setting to have it start out fully inflated
That setting only works if there's a seat attached.
Lmao, Kan making a full video on breaking the soundbarrier with gravity only, scrapman accidentally does it😂
it was very simple to calculate how many you would need. previous balloon could lift 70 , this one can lift 17.5. the ratio between those two numbers is 4. multiply 4 by 12(number of balloons you had in the previous video) and you get 48
This Is why never stop a ScrapMan video before the finale add 😁
I did not expect scrapman to go the sound barrier in i think 5 blocks with gravity only, wow
Probably glitched airodynamics by breaking the front off
@@rltt379 yes he created a no drag glitch by accident
“What the heck is a kilometer”Very American, great job editor!
Try going supersonic with suspention tention
Edit: Love the editor btw
Here’s an idea! “How many ways can one single vehicle break the sound barrier?”
Have a vehicle that uses a propulsion method to break the sound barrier, then sheds those pieces and breaks the sound barrier again with a different propulsion method, then sheds those pieces and does it again, getting smaller and smaller, and finally ending with just your seat and a few aero blocks to break the sound barrier with gravity.
Vehicle would start off massive, but if you choose the order of propulsion methods right, I think you could do at least a few in a row.
Him-"Take your guesses of how many balloons we need"
me-"over 1 atleast!"
also me-*manages to guess right*
I love your vids scrapman, have been watching them for many years now, i have a multiplayer video idea: BattleBots 2.0 because the destruction physics are way different now, hope your doing well
Love how five years ago he was just simply trying to break the sound barrier with a huge creation now it’s trying to use party balloons
right on time love your videos scrapman
Great vids keep up the amazing work! (:
You‘re trying to attempt sth? Wow, i didn‘t expect such low confidence😂😂
0:02
Well using the four side girder blocks and having four balloons per layer would probably get you more lift per weight ratio.
18:21 I appreciate you beeing self conscious about your choices ... within reason. Personaly I think it can be helpfull but too much is never good.
Funny thing about that song. 99 Luftballons (original name) never stated anywhere in the lyrics that the baloons were red
Wow, I bet exactly 40, it was so close, by the way, congratulations on two achievements in one video
Nice editing!
Well done Scrapman, i actually didnt believe it would be possible.
😂😂😂I guessed It right at the beginning 😂😂😂
48 balloons, the bigger ballons looked like 4 times bigger so i thought quadruple it and you're good.
Loved the Nena reference there, but guessing maybe around 50-60
99 Luftballons!
Its insane what you can do in a single game. Love the vids upure the best youtuber ever
The first concept would’ve worked if he made it to where no aerodynamics would be added. Also he could do with 46 if he optimized weight and a little aerodynamics (replace the two support wedges for a grid block underneath the cone)
4:44 Speed of sound in MPH is basically 777, I learned it from Redout2.
The interstelleresque music when he did it had me rolling.
Yo, I think it could be interesting to see you try to build cool things in Robocraft 2, I don't know if you're familiar with the first one, but there is so many new things, where there are powered and passive joints of many different varieties, and logical circuit components now!
It is very fun to play with, and is relatively similar to what you currently play and would love to see you try :D
Well at least once i had correct assumption that it will be 4x times as the big ball... but you were scaring me whole time with the 40.
Hello again Scrapman, just keeping a promise here, but remember what you said about Mario?
“It’s Morbin time”
We don’t forget
nice work editor 👍
hehe Scrapman I salute you for taking the balloon experimentation even further!
Hey scrapman it would be so fun to see another hovercraft battle with the new update i love your videos and keep it going
Hey Scrapman can you make remotely controlled sticky bombs that you can stick on the enemy's in the airborne map?
Another thing that might be an interesting test would be using the mini gun recoil for a sonic boom.
I think kosmo already did that
When are you going to do volcanoids again? If you are going to play again here are some tips:
1:you can rob buildings by breaking a broken wooden door
2:you can place turrets on the roof of your drillship which means total coverage on both sides to conserve drillship fuel or electricity
3:the cogs (the robots you fight) have flying variants now
I think he already beat the game
@@jianalexander1359 i know, maybe he could play with kan, kosmo, or even yuezi
Yay new video
hey ScrapMan, can you build "de Havilland vampire"?, it's a pretty unique design
Now that's a MM challenge vert drag race to the skybox with baloons
This is the best party, although my ears are ringing .
great video!
If you use all four sides of the centerpieces, then you can probably delete the top half just by making it more compact. That saves a tiny bit of weight and maybe it might be able to take a layer of balloons off
Ohh you may have found a hidden function of the party balloon! I think when it breaks it absorbs some of the impact and protects the rest of the vehicle
I wish trailmakers would just add more blocks that made some of the building so much easier. I have that issue with certain aerodynamic blocks we have currently
Hi love your vids
I want live
A + shaped design (When viewed from the top) might work better or would at least be more compact for the same amount of balloons.
Wow, I caught this video almost right away
broke the sound barrier going up... broke it again coming back down.
I guessed 44 balloons based on the comparison you made at the beginning between the two balloons. I did 11*4 since the small balloon was approximately 4 times less powerful
Also the balloons sideways is the approach I would have used, it just seemed more efficient
17:24 -- **At 36 ballons?** -- I counted 20 on one side, that would be 40 (adding 4 more on each side is 48) -- confirmed at 22:10.
I figured it would it take 48 balloons....
70kg / 20 kg = 3.5 (so about 4 party balloons per 1 inflatable).
The original took 12 ballons, so needing a 4:1 ratio would be 48 balloons.
I GUESSED IT MY BRAIN MAN ITS SO HUMONGUS
What you should’ve done is use those light weights blocks and the put the balloons around each block if that makes sense
I was so close I chose 50 and there was 48. I love your videos keep up the good work
The freaking balloon weight edit killing me
I love the sonic boom thing
I'm surprised Scrapman forgot his experiments on using only aerodynamic blocks for wings. If you have enough speed, they can work like wings (albeit much more slowly).
The editor needs a raise
KAn : imma spend a whole video on fakling at the speed of sound
ScrapMan : * accidentally did it*
I was about to type a comment referencing this to the song of my homeland made by NINA 99 red balloons but he beat me too it. 👏👏👏👏👏 good job being cultured scrap man
I know I'm a little late, but my guess is 44. The party balloons have about 1/4 the lift of the big balloons. I'm still convinced that the design with the big balloons could have worked with only 11 if it flew straight. I figured it would be easier to fly straight with the party balloons (i.e., it would take less extra weight to make that happen), but they would have a larger aerodynamic profile because they don't have a set of parallel faces with attachment points. These would balance out. Hence my guess is 11 * 4 = 44. 44 is also a multiple of 4, so many conceivable designs could end up with that number of balloons.
24:00 I usually get th the water with the suspension glitch but sonic ram sometimes works too.
When you're the DJ and you need to attend a party in space in a cost efficient manner. *Pulls out the Party Sonic Boom 10000*
THERE IS A SINGLE BLOCK SOLUTION, THE NEW SINGLE BLOCK CONE IS EXTREMELY AERODYNAMIC
Ayyyyyy that was the first guess in the sound barrier vids I got right
the what the heck is a kilometer cracked me up
Oh wow, i guessed right, It really was 48 ballons.
I have a potential solution to having to frantically jump into the creation as soon as it spawns. You could put a detachable block between the two paddles which is connected to a literal ton of weight blocks. (Get it, ton, weight, nevermind.)
Or a detachable block connected to an anchor block.
@@alienwarmachine6011 That's so much more compact, I'm stupid.
@@alienwarmachine6011 Actually, for that to work you would have to spawn the creation in the ground which might bug it out.
Nice
I GUESSTIMATED 48 AT THE START OH MY GOD
(did some calculations with the regular balloon blocks and the lift strength difference and it came out around 12*4, so 48 to hopefully land close to what it is)
I WOULD'VE NEVER EXPECTED TO BE SPOT ON
just want to say, the way you accidentally broke sound barrier is because you kind of no drag glitched it (there were blocks right in front of it, they removed the seat aero, but since the blocks got destroyed its like if you used no drag)
The math works. Took 12 big ballons last time, 1 big can lift roughly 70lbs. 1 red could barely lift a quarter of that. 4 would probably lift roughly 70. So you can assume 12x4 is 48.
Well dang, my random guess of 50 was way closer than I expected.
Break the soundbarrier with guns, every type is allowed
Bro yhe the editor is such a jokester 😂
Hey Scrapman, I don't suppose you still have the footage of you building your bi-plane do you? i'd love to see a "Build along" type video of it for people to follow. Thanks!
Oh it threw out I was wrong 😭 you can't be doing me like that scrapman
Could you do a cargo plane 2v2 kind of battle, like you did with the battleships once? Every person makes their own cargo plane, and the teams do one match with each one, and then the final round is whichever one the team prefers.
Lets all take a moment to realize that with this logic the house in the movie, Up, can go 100x the speed of sound 🤯
40 is my guess! Now, I'll continue watching. 😁Well I was close and for about a minute I thought I'd nailed it! 🤣✌️
The same happened with me! xD
Comparing the big balloons' power to the party balloons' power, I used math to calculate you need about 44 party balloons to break the sound barrier.
It seems I was pretty close!
😲 I truly guessed 48 at the start of the vid. When you said 40 I was like damn so close, then you said 48 and I was just like 😲
Doing lifting body's again would be cool

I don't have the game, not the hardware to even run it, but consider trailing edge aerodynamics. I've seen it been proven to have an effect in a trailmakers video, idk which one though.
