  • Is India on track to play catch-up with China? Over the past years, the country's economy has grown at a rapid pace - overtaking the UK, France, Italy and Brazil in size. Now - as hundreds of millions of Indians begin voting in elections, some economists are speculating about the country's potential to rival even China in the not-too-distant future. DW Business speaks with Alicia Garcia Herrero, Chief Economist for Asia Pacific at Natixis.

They want to increase tension between China and India to exploit.
      The “divide and conquer” strategy
They use it on middle east , Europe and now Asia.
This strategy is mostly attributed to the Anglo-Saxon(Uk U$ CAN AUS) diplomacy, they simply applied it most effectively through history.
"This strategy, and all other strategies that try to weaken others so we could overcome them, rule over them, is the strategy of our inherently egocentric, self-serving nature, that thrives on succeeding at the expense of others."

America's provocative path is raising concerns among countries in Asia
The US Foreign Policy to keep Asia poor and divided as stated in a top-secret U.S. Foreign Policy document written 76 years ago is still in force.
      February 24, 1948, Declassified U.S. Foreign Policy:
Furthermore, we have about 50% of the world’s wealth but only 6.3% of its population. This disparity is particularly great as between ourselves and the peoples of Asia. In this situation, we cannot fail to be the object of envy and resentment. Our real task in the coming period is to devise a pattern of relationships which will permit us to maintain this position of disparity without positive detriment to our national security. ... that Japan and the Philippines will be found to be the corner-stones of such a Pacific security system and that if we can contrive to retain effective control over these areas there can be no serious threat to our security from the East within our time.
Taiwan was added to the Pacific security system after Chiang's army retreated to the island of Taiwan in 1949. South Korea was added after the Korean War in 1953. The attempt with Vietnam, Laos, and Cambodia was abandoned in 1975.

      - huge inequality
      - acces to payment systems
      for the poorest
      - brutal deadly sexism
      - brutal deadly patriarchy
      - very strong caste culture
      - democratic divisiveness
      - religious divisiveness
      - India stays at the mercy of
      transnational corporations
Indians studying or becoming successful abroad are rather eager to stay where they are instead of going back to India
China went for a comprehensive strategy tackling all these issues at the same time
China's authoritarian modus operandi turns out to be very adaptive and flexible instead of rigid
In the last five years pollution went drastically down as did corruption (you can't have one without the other). And the process is still ungoing....
China is not in a surviving mode.

India social demographic, religious differences, cast systems , different political ideology, poor infrastructure etc ..are many of problems India need to fix. And India PM should concentrate on developing India then tilting towsrds US orbit. Increasing military budget to counter China is not the solution. Its a grave mistake for India politicians to believe US warmongering ideologies. With all this issues affecting India now. India cannot and will not be like China in next 20 years.
