the wire is broken inside from the vibrations > clean the silicon from the back and welding the wire and will be a good fix !!

I think you should think about doing some repairs for friends on the side. Good, honest mechanics are very hard to find. Good save here,

I used to do side work many years ago, I have done some recently, but I'm pretty selective on what the job is and who it's for. I wouldn't consider myself any kind of expert, I just do my own work because I don't have the spare change that I used to.

My 2019 Mt-07 has 24,000 miles on it. I bought it brand new and have slowly watched almost every gear disappear from my dash lol. I only have Neutral and 5th gear visible. Seems to be a common problem.

I've not had the problem reoccur since replacing this part. It's been a few years now. I don't recall the part being very expensive.

My 2019 Indian Chief Vintage has had a problem with the gear positioning switch from the day I bought it new, At first it was a recall item but now I have to spend money to get it continually serviced, Indian suggests having it serviced every 10,000 miles but it don't last that long, It works fine for about 2000 miles but then starts doing its old habits of not showing neutral and I have to put the kickstand up and hold the clutch in to start it and while riding it shows a gear that I am not in which is an annoyance, I love my Indian but I am not very happy with all this electrical computer crap they put on motorcycles these days, I guess it is just one of those things I will just have to live with.

maybe, maybe not.. more likely the solder points are failing inside, you can dig out the filling compound and resolder the failing points.. I'm about to take this journey..

Fully agree. Many of them have the wire coming loose from the contact in the soft silicone back. Just opened mine (2009 R1) and yep - wire came off 2nd gear contact.

@@evanr9945 yeah i had a few gears not showing up.. resodered it and was money for a long time.. but then I lost a different gear, and giggled the thing (naked bike), and it would be fixed for a bit.. then the jiggling took out a few other gears.. so now I can only see 1st and 3rd lol.. part of me wants to get back in there and fix them with a better soldering setup (used a 1$ solder iron from frys 20 years ago), but I am worried the wires themselves might be shorting.. and at this point my time is not worth it over paying 40$ for a new one.. but then if the new on insta fails.. ima be pissed.. so right now im just being lazy

@@whocarescameraj1809 I bought a spare (used) one last week and replaced last Monday, all works well now. Opened the old one to fix so I have a spare one in case the replacement quits at some point. If it's only soldering, I'm not worried, that's straightforward. Let's see in a couple of days when I had the time to fix it.
